@@lurchorum Totally agree! He was far more interesting when he had "plot armor" for being smarter and better trained than everyone else, just from his personal efforts into improving himself. Also, I never liked the idea of Batman facing aliens like Darkseid. Sure, that was well handled when he made Darkseid promise to leave Supergirl alone or Batman would blow up Apokolips. But that's brains over brawn, and should be used VERY sparingly. Batman was at his best when he was just a great detective fighting crime in Gotham.

All characters have convenient protection that allows them to survive stupid scenarios. Like Superman is presumably made of normal elements, probably in similar composition to a human, and yet can somehow tank basically asteroids or solar temperatures, and draw physics-breaking amounts of energy from sunlight. This can also be construed as plot armor, as it is not remotely realistic, plus the many scenarios where he's fought through his Kryptonite weakness and managed to somehow do impossible feats. Or Flash being basically immune to the detrimental physical effects of extreme speed. Also convenient nonsense. Basically all superheroes that don't die ten minutes into a big fight survive because the writer wants them to live and wrote the plot to avoid their death. Batman it's just more glaring because he has no actual superpowers, but frankly that true of plenty of other characters like Iron Man or Hawkeye

Literally, Krypton's destruction was planned by Rao, Krypton's Skyfather/Sun God, and allowed Superman to survive it, in order to become a symbol of Hope. He planned it along with the Despair of the Endless. Not only that, Superman, along with the El Family, are the direct descendant of Rao. And to know how powerful Rao really is, after he abandoned Krypton, it's revealed in one of the comics that he fathered the ancestors of all the gods of every pantheon of Earth. In DC you ask how many cities an A list hero can lift, and S tier heroes how many planets they can tow or push. Even if you take strength out of the equation, DC has too many beings that can at least move faster then the speed of sound, and it scales so high. In a Justice league melee between Legion of Doom, Batman would normally get killed 10x before he could blink, especially since he's their strategist.

How it went is that in prehistoric time, there's a group called the Bird Tribe, and within that group, Barbatos influence some of them to betray the rest of the tribe to come and worship him. They are called the Tribe of Judas, named after the one who betrayed Jesus. As for why they picked Owls, it's because Owls are birds, and they fly in the night/darkness, like bats, and their previous connection to the Bird Tribe. Fun Fact: one of Hawkman's previous incarnation was part of the Bird Tribe, and the leader that was influenced by Barbatos that betrayed the Bird Tribe is Hath-Set, Hawkman's arch enemy.

It is cannon in DC that Batman is super-genius, and that is super-power on itself. Now, if we go by MY head cannon: Batman is an embodiment of the humanity as collective. If some human can do something/humanity can feasibly achieve something as a collective, Batman can do it. This explains any and all of his feats, for the most part. Being overpowered/have power creep has also very specific meaning. (Hint: These two are entirely different terms and must not be used interchangeably). It is your fault that you cannot understand them. Having a cannon explanation of why he does not lose, which is logically consistent (because duh, a multiversal being affecting all time and space can mess things up, just like how Reverse Flash messes Barry’s life up in every moment of time) is NOT plot armour. That is like saying that a general has “plot armour” because he has army at his command protecting him. Also, you seem to lack critical thinking. WHY Barbados twists Batman’s fate? Have you not noticed that Batman does NOT benefit positively from it? That he can never overcome his trauma, or never stay happy? This “being conduit of a celestial” is more often Monkey’s paw than not. Barbados let’s Batman live, only to make him experience more pain and torture throughout his life. More loss. More anger. Same like with many words like “overpowered” or “power creep” - these terms are being tossed around so thoughtlessly that they lost any and all meaning they once, if ever, had. Batman can never get a happy ending, or ever stop all crime in Gotham, or ever recover from his childhood trauma…. Why? He's not really an avatar for Barbatos. Barbatos wanted a way into the main Multiverse from the Dark Multiverse. Batman and Barbatos both use bat symbols. They encountered each other when Batman went back to the dawn of time from the Omega Sanction, and Barbatos viewed Batman as a potential gateway into the Multiverse. So he manipulator all of history to ensure that Batman eventually comes to be, and had his cult (Court of Owls) manipulate more events behind the scenes in order to prepare Batman for the ritual without his knowledge. Batman is more of a ritual sacrifice than anything.

Exactly. It is NOT plot armour. It is a divine monkey’s paw. Pros: Batman can never lose definitely. Cons: Batman can never win permanently (stop all crime in Gotham). He can never be happy. Batman himself and DC universe cross-overs undermines the idea of Batman. You CANNOT have Batman present to be “human” and exist within the same universe as Demi-gods like Superman etc, AND somehow hold up. Also, it makes sense, in hindsight. Some Greek-level Divine Irony, meaning that Batman is “punished by miserable life”. He will never accomplish his goals, he will never be happy, not permanently. He is destined to never overcome his trauma. All he will be is a broken man that is forced to watch his family die around him, unable to do anything. Why? Because a Bat-god wants to break Batman and turn him into another one of his “Darkest Knights”.
