There is an argument to be on a two-year update cycle if you are savy with re-selling. I could sell my iPhone 14 Pro Max used right now and get about 900 euros because the battery life has not yet dropped below 80% and it is still reasonably new. This means the 16 Pro would cost me like 300 bucks.

99% of people can’t tell the difference. I can remember a hilarious blind test a KZbinr did years ago when the old 720p lcd was still in Apple service. They pitted it against a 120hz Android flagship. Most people chose the Apple mounted 720p display. It comes down to quality, and the fact that it was like a 6inch display. People are essentially full of sh@t, when they talk about how much better this display is compared to that while purely reading a spec sheet. It was a while ago so I can’t remember the channel, shame.

The thing is i don't really care for hertz. I'll tell you as well why. I have a samsung galaxy s21 and it's great love it. But I don't use the 60 hertz feature because my phone is always in power saving mode. Now would I see a difference absolutely but I don't use a feature I paid for. I wish apple would just bloody lower the price for 60 hertz. Like make it 100 or 200 dollars lower for 60 hertz clearly I don't care for the feature so don't charge me for it. 16 is most likely not for 15 users. Its for the 14 and below series, those with iPhone 10s and and 12s essentially who haven't upgraded. The iPhone 15 was the one that felt like a good upgrade even if you had a 14 back then. Same old same old where if your 2 or more generations behind, the iPhone 16 is the right upgrade.

I’ll be honest.. I ordered the Apple Watch 10 GPS/Cellular in Jet, Gloss black in 46MM. I’m a person who is big on design. Yes, I bought the Ultra in 2022 because of a different design, and they were $699 I believe. Yes, it looks just about the same as the older, regular watches only bigger. But this is not only bigger, but thinner. The glass is more rounded in a way that you can view it on an angle more better. I also ordered the AirPods 4 with ANC. I had the Gen 2 version of AirPods that came out and I purchased in 2019 I believe. I liked the feel of them just because they were a familiar design and feel without the wires. Thought about going AirPods Pro in 2022, but they were shipping so far out and at the same time, Beats Fit Pro came out which were the AirPods Pro 2, just with the beats name and logo, beats designed and no wireless charging case. But it had ANC and I absolutely love that feature. And… They weee $50 bucks cheaper than the AirPods Pro2. Now that I’m going back to the Apple AirPods, I’m just curious how I’m gonna love them since they got a redesign a few years back. Pretty much paid no attention when it came to the phone for reasons talked about in this video and again, same design that dates back the 12 series. Overall.. The Special Event was meh to me, and I’m probably sure there are others that feel the same way too. But again for me, the Series 10 and the AirPods 4 with ANC was the highlight for me. Happy shopping everyone.✌🏼

The features on the iPhone 16 Pro that I am most looking forward to at launch are: 4 hours more battery life, improved wide-angle camera, expanded and non-destructive photographic styles, slightly larger screen with 1 nit minimum brightness, and WiFi 7. They may not be earth-shattering, but they are definitely nice-to-have features that savvy users will notice and appreciate. Stack together 3 or 4 years of cumulative updates - which is what most people experience as most people do not and should not upgrade their phone every year - and upgrading to the iPhone 16 will be pretty sweet for most people. It remains to be seen whether the Camera Control will be useful, or something that nobody uses and Apple eventually abandons like Force Touch or the Touch Bar. As for Apple Intelligence - that also remains to be seen - but if Siri finally stops being worthless and gains even a fraction of the capility of ChatGPT, then I would consider that a major upgrade over previous iPhones.

Apple needs to stop constantly cranking out phones just after the last one its getting stupid.

Just picked up the 16 today. Not the pro. While I agree mostly with Matt on all this, my service I got this through gave me $525 for an XR as a trade in so I’m getting this for $400. Jumping from something like the XR and 12 with a good trade value like I got would make it worth it, to me for the upgrade to the 16. I like it. The case isn’t bad with the missing edge but this is literally day one with it so we shall see how it goes.

If it ain’t broke I suppose. They’ve settled on a design and there’s not a whole lot they can do to it. And, to be fair, an iPhone 12 vs a 15 is pretty different. At first glance they look the same but they don’t really have a whole lot in common. Front, back, and sides are all different. The only thing in common is a screen taking up most of the front, flat sides, and camera bump in the top left of a glass back. But they got rid of the notch for the island, expanded the display/shrunk the bezels, rounded the sides, changed the materials they’re made from and made the camera bump about twice the size. But holding them both they feel VERY different.

The main reason I’m switching from the 13 pro max, is cause I’m usually outside and take pictures, OUTSIDE, so the higher megapixel camera will actually see some differences. I’m also taking a lot of video, cause I do power sports (ATV riding) and want a good video phone that can capture the cool places I go. Personally, if they want to have a high-end material for a phone, don’t do titanium, do either stainless steel with a CBN coating on top for literally top notch durability, or HARDENED STEEL for the ring around the body, and regular aluminum for the insides (good luck getting it apart lol).

As someone who used to upgrade every year…when they said during WWDC that Apple Intelligence would make it to my 15 Pro Max eventually, a switch in my head turned off and I told myself there’s no reason to upgrade this year. After watching a 2-minute recap of the 16 Pros, my decision was solidified. I don’t care about some fancy new camera button. Just gonna use my AppleCare and get a new battery in a few months. My phone is practically identical to the 16 Pro Max.

I have the iPhone 13 mini but I am unlikely to upgrade it until I absolutely have to, when it is no longer supported. Apple said they were not going to make such a small phone ever again. Having a small phone is really the most important thing to me and I haven’t seen any features yet which could sway me otherwise. All a load of gimmicks just to get the consumers to part with their money. I have preordered the iWatch 10 though, it’s my first one since Google have taken over Fitbit 😁

I will not buy an $800 device that does not have Pro Motion and $400 devices have this feature in Android devices.. I couldn’t care less about anything else about it except the apple intelligence. Gen Ai is cool, but until it’s fully integrated and (supposedly) private, the real world applications are limited. If they deliver what they promised, this will be a next generation of how we interact with our devices. And how they are doing it is extremely cool from a technology perspective. It has access to all your lists and journals and data. Then with that context, smaller tasks are handled by a standalone model running on the phone itself, for larger tasks, it has the ability to compute it remotely. This is the first time I’ve heard of a hybrid ai model. This is the beginning of something really cool that will make our devices far more useful and gives users a massive advantage in productivity. This is coming from someone still using a 12 mini because I don’t typically value any of the new features. Not to be a hater, but to me, your take is as silly as saying the iPhone is just an iPod touch that can make phone calls

From somebody looking from the outside in. I don't think they are doing enough. I just bought a 2 year old samsung galaxy z flip 4 used. A used iPhone 11 is slightly less money but way older. I honestly see apple as a scam at this point. If your going to buy a new iphone you might as well try to get a used iPhone 15 pro, if it's reasonably priced compared to the 16 and 16 pro.

The real issue is companies are starting to sell us software. No reason all iPhone from 2-3 years ago can’t have this feature as well.

So I have the iPhone 14 Plus and was wondering if it’s even worth the upgrade? Since the AI features aren’t available right away then I think I can wait and just get the 17. I just want to hear others opinions.

I will do the same like the last 3 times. Buy the last generation for a good price. Did it when the iPhone 12 came out and bought the 11 pro. Did it when the iPhone 14 came out and bought the 13 pro. And now I just ordered the 15 pro. Seriously, for me this is the way to go. In comparison the features you get on top from one generation to another are so minor that I am not ready to pay release prices for iPhones anymore. So I am set for the next 2 years and I bet the 15 pro will serve me more than good. Let's see what iphone 17 will be like. Because that will probably be the phone I buy when the iPhone 18 is coming out.

I only have an iphone SE (second gen) so the 16 pro (which I preordered today) is a huge step up for me and i think that's the thing if you have a 15 pro it's probably not worth an update but in my case I think it's wort an update.

I'm just going to say that the AirPods have been behind it feels like with some of their features. Adaptive audio of have been on earbuds for a little bit of time for example the Sony Link Buds S. They're great earbuds pair with everything and also have adaptive noise cancellation / you can set it up where it changes whenever you are talking to somebody. So AirPods are not the best choice anymore I feel like.

Austin man, you gotta sometimes just stop being overly optimistic with the promise of the future. Some of the software stuff in the Apple Intelligence are still playing catch-up with Google's and Samsung's. With the hearing aid stuff, it's very hard to be approved by the FDA.

I feel like Apple isn’t meant to be upgraded every year it’s meant for everyone with a phone 3-4 generations behind to upgrade. I have a first gen iPad still running, 4 year old air pods still going and 13 pro max that I just replaced the battery.

most people do not care about phones anymore only upgrade if it breaks or gets super old... im still on 12 pro don't really see anything these new ones do that i need.

I honestly believe most phones have basically plateaued, at most each new phone gets that tiny more cpu power and ram maybe a slight storage increase and naturally a better camera but is that worth the upgrade every year? I got a new s24 this year and that is because my phone contract was up for renewal and by habit I will upgrade as a result and 3 years have passed. My phone has a better camera and runs that tiny bit faster but my old s21 can still run perfectly fine and if it wasn't for the camera I probably would have stuck with it. I think back to say 2010 to 2015 there was HUGE advances between each model of phone, the 2010 phone in 2015 was absolutely gutless by then but in 1 years time the 2020 phone would still be more than fine now. Sure the battery would be worse for wear and maybe some games might run a bit worse but it is still more than fine. Unless you care so much about the A.I stuff I wouldn't say upgrading constantly is "worth" it.

Here’s an issue I see with the new “” button “” Any regular mom / pop genuinely has no clue how to use a camera on there phone, the camera might have a smudge or finger on the lense, adding another feature they won’t use just seems well useless. 9/10 people I see shooting photos on newer iPhones have no idea “ portrait mode “ auto blues backgrounds.
