No need to switch an sd card over, the things just appear where they were on the old phone from a cloud backup no problem. Regarding removing features, I'm OK with it but the issue is that those changes are made before the market is ready for them. When removable batteries started, the new one didn't last most of the day, portable batteries were expensive and charging was slow so finding somewhere to charge was complicated because you needed more time. Now charging is faster, batteries are bigger and external batteries are cheap. When the headphone jack was removed, bt headsets were not good and the good ones were really expensive, the usb c adapters were also not that great and lose quality of the audio. Now bt headsets are better and cheaper, adapters work well too. I'm still mad about the micro ad cards because there are no improvements since it was removed besides cloud. I have a pair of wired shure in ear monitors and they can provide up to 37 decibels of isolation. Not all usb c devices accept audiotechnica from the usb c port. Usb c is fragmented when it comes to features and functionality and it even applies to audio as well. With the headphone jack, it literally just works because it's just plug and play and there is no fragmentation being involved. For example, there are certain usb c devices that charge only and transfer data only and does not support any form of audio even though usb c supports audio. When it comes to usb c, the features and functionality have to be within specs in terms of what they can do and what they can't do. With audio, there will always be analog being involved. For instance, you need to convert the digital 1s and 0s to an analog signal to be played back on speakers and headphones. Every phone, laptop, tablet etc. has a dac but needs to be converted to from digital to analog. Unfortunately, the built in dacs are mediocre. With bluetooth audio, you always have to rely on using non user replaceable batteries. I have some harman kardon bluetooth speakers and the battery has already degraded and they barely last that long and the battery is non user replaceable. With wired headphones and earbuds, there are user replaceable cables with balanced and unbalanced connectors and have the option use the built in microphones with the cables.

On batteries I am not following what you are saying. We shouldn't have removable batteries because charging is faster, and you act like they are mutually exclusive. We could have USBC fast charging and/or wireless charging and still be able to replace a battery when it goes bad without having to go to a repair center or (as the phone companies hope) just buy a new phone. My biggest issue with phones nowadays is how they do everything they can to prevent users from fixing them when a battery goes out or such.

I am tired of disposable tech. Wireless is landfill tech. Also if they remove sim cards can they replace it with removable storage?

I understand what you're saying about the battery, and there is a difference between "removable" and "serviceable". With that in mind, look at what Apple is doing (to comply with regulations, mind you). They are making batteries in thin metal sleeves, with Lego style connectors so they're easy to replace. I know, it's kind of off point, but it would of been nice to touch on this since that is technically a removable battery from a repair perspective. Of course, other companies have done this already, but Apple's just the most recent as they were lagging behind a bit. As far as the phone goes, I don't know. Personally I like the basic feel without a specially designed case or dock. That said, I do use a USB dock almost always around the house, just because I can.

First, only I will say for lose old to gain new, you have a trade off. One of the things for wireless buds/headphones is charging. If you forget to charge, then you are SOL. Also battery life for most are just a couple of hours. For the SD card, the idea is the amount of storage vs price. For base of 125 gb (that is too small and you are not getting 125, you are getting less) is so expensive for what you get. The SD feature lets you have more storage even if it is slow. I know tech is evolving but we are getting new issues with it and not enough solutions for them.

So there has been some phones with a headphone jack and ip68. It costs like 1 dollar for apple to upgrade the storage from 128 to 256 but they charge 100 for it. Higher storage should be standard. Personally I cant use a phone like an actual pc at all so it will remain just a phone for now. A 400 dollar device will do anything i need a phone to do.

The problem is when you buy a phone every year, there isn’t a lot different and that’s what people complain about. I’ve just upgraded from a 13 pro max to a 16 pro max and happy with the difference in what I’m getting, but wouldn’t if I was going from a 15 to a 16!
@l0wgrade377Ай бұрын
Have the 16 pro for about 3 weeks and it is a huge improvement for me. I don’t have the money to upgrade every year though so I upgraded from a few generations. Build quality much higher and lots of my pet peeves have been ironed out. Don’t see a reason to upgrade for a decent few generations

I don't understand why phone manufacturers needed to release a new model yearly. and most chineses manufacturers even release in 3 or 6 months . a very wasteful in materials, resources and the reason why everything keeps getting more expensive. In this year almost everyone already have a smartphone. and most of them is reliable for years to come now. what if there's a global law they just release a model in 3 or even after 4 years. so in that case in 3 yrs they can make more significant upgrade to the new model, lesser carbon footprint. and in that 3 or 4 yrs of selling the same model maybe they can drop the price in 2 yrs and so forth too? EU make this a global law.. please. and include graphic cards and cpu manufacturers too.

iPhone is just too expensive. In Canada, most older Android devices can be had at Carriers for massive discounts, some as low as $0, which includes last year's flagships. Something like an iPhone 13, still available at some carriers, cost around $500 over a 2-year contract. When my friend bought iPhone 8's for him and his wife, over 2 years he paid $3000 more than me and my wife, because of original cost and monthly iphone specific plans. He recently purchased two iPhone 15s and they will pay $1200 more than me over 2 years, which is a little better. Also in that time, my friend purchased over $10,000 in Apple laptops and tablets and then there was the repair costs for iPhone and laptops. iPhone and the Apple echosystem is just too expensive.

I think you really need to talk about the innovation vs price. If nothing much is changing, why are they so expensive? If they innovated more, then it's justifiable.

Like honestly I’m not spending $1200 for a phone every year anymore I feel like as I’m growing older 23 priorities man the 14promax is an absolutely good phone I just have to get the battery replaced and this thing will be set for another 4years tbh before I was upgrading phones from the 4s to 17plus before I realized I’m paying for almost the same phone I’d be happy with an IPod classic and a standalone phone tbh if only they brought back the original Motorola razr with 5g I’d be using that tbh and no not the new one the old one with actual tactile buttons no touch screen

if you can sell the same thing (or even less) for even more profit each year, and mark it as being improved, why wouldn't you? People are buying it. There's this sense of always being current or having the latest gadgets. It's just a cruddy thing to do. But that's not going to stop Apple.

Honestly can't say I care about the loss of the headphone jack. I hadn't used one for at least 2 years before they went away since I can't stand wires or being tethered to anything. Losing SD card slot expandability sucked though. Storage is cheap, but phone manufacturers pretend it's not, especially Apple.
@solonepeon58052 ай бұрын
I think Batteries should be removable ao you can install a bigger capacity battery instead of the low cap stock that companies like to give so your phone dies quickly. Plus if you can't remove it then that mean you need to send the phone completely to the company which will behind closed doors download your private data while they switch out the battery & we all know thats exactly why they moved to non removable batteries in the future.

They are getting worse ... from the point of view of repairability and durability. Like many services they're less meant to be a solution to your problem, but a way to hook you in and sell you a new one each 3 years. If shareholders are more important than the product and the customers, that's worse

Legitimately, the only reason I'm still rocking an iPhone 12 Pro Max is the SIM card. I prefer an iPhone most of the time, but I am one of those people with other phones, a Pixel 9 Pro Max, a Z Flip 6, and a OnePlus Open. I move my SIM card around based on what I need that day and what I'm doing, work/travel/whatever, and AT&T's website refuses to activate E-SIM on the OnePlus or Samsung even though they're both unlocked and work with my physical SIM just fine. If the iPhone had something using that SIM card space, I'd still be annoyed, but at least it would be justified. The fact that it is just a useless void in US phones is ridiculous.
