Why does My Car Hesitate , Bucks, Jerks while driving

A good possible reason is the quality of the Gasoline nowadays..some stations would have a build up of Water in the tanks and they get transferred to your tank..water from a leak after a winter storm or heavy rains will get into the gas station tanks..some have bad sealing or just old tanks..one thing you Never Do is Buy Gasoline when the Delivery Truck is there..as they dump the gasoline into the underground tanks..they disturb the debris and water in that tank as it is being sucked out and delivered into your tank..happens all the time..but add these 2 additives to your tank once in awhile and you can kind of erase that from your worries..
I have had several customers have a drive ability problem just after they had purchase gasoline..

0:28,ohhh yeah,learned this the hard way...got gas AFTER it rained...wasnt even hardly around the corner and my car started shutting down..water was in the gas😮😮,went immediately to honda and they confirmed it..went BACK to the gas station and he cut me a check for the repairs🤦🏾‍♀️.

That happens alot at stations that are on a pitch or hill..after a snow or rain storm..glad you caught it in time before any damage was done...

I was given a 2001 F150 step side truck before I received it the truck was put in the shop because it would jerk and not move forward now at about 57mph it will stall. Any Idea what is causing the problem? Also, the steering is so loose it's hard to keep it on the road any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

It stalls only when you are going 57 mph? And when it stalls did it restart right away?

With the steering you need to check all the steering and suspension parts for wear and tear..how are the tires?

I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra. 61k miles. Slight jerks when in idle. Jerks more pronounced when driving at low speeds, when accelerating again after taking foot off the pedal and also when the A/C is on. I have changed transmission fluid at 60k miles. Engine oil changes are also regular and on schedule. Tested ignition coils by removing connectors and seeing the engine response. All seem to work fine. Fuel injector test also done with the screwdriver. All seem to work fine too. Replaced spark plugs recently. All of these done but jerks still occur. No check engine lights. Any help?

Fuel injector test with a screwdriver? Never heard of that, impossible to even see the spray coming out..clean the throttle plate with carburetor cleaner and a rag. Check for a crack in the hose or tube or even the clamps on the hoses going from the air cleaner to the throttle body while its off.

2015 honda accord sport here...lately my car has been "bucking" when i go to drive..but stops after a bit...i stay on top of maintance so i went to my new mechanic and he said i may need transmission fluid(claims its not visible like the regular oil stick is)...i hope this is the issue..have had ac work done,convertor done,ALOT lol..🤔

My car jerks when accelerating or at low speed. It take time to auto shift to another gears. After 10 - 15 seconds, it runs normal. Honda civic sport 1.5 L. I haven't tried the chemicals above yet

My ford focus does the same thing when coming from a complete stop. But not all the time. It's got a new transmission, had fuel injectors n assembly, spark plugs, etc etc changed within the past 2 years. Another day, another Ford problem

If you are talking about 10-15 seconds after staring the car, then I would think possible manifold gasket issues. If it’s on the highway and takes 10-15 seconds, you may have a fuel delivery issue like a dirty fuel filter, clogged injectors, weakening fuel pump, etc.

I have a 1999 Lincoln Navigator 5.4L V8. I recently changed the oil and put completely new coolant in it. I had my spark plugs and ignition coils changed also. When I’m accelerating from a dead stop it jerks and takes time to climb in speed but if I’m going over about 55Mph, it drives fine. What could that be?

Oil change won't do that but the plugs and coil replacement sounds like they either didn't put something back right, knocked something off or broke something..look near the plugs and coils and everything that is connected to being removed to do the job..look at the hoses or clamps that attach the intake air cleaner ..its something they knocked off or disconnected and didn't put back on...

Oil change light is yellow and it tells you the oil change is due..when the oil light is red then its no oil or lack of oil and the engine will shut off. Now when the car stalls out all the lights will come on. But if you have a battery light and a check engine light on then there is a problem..remember the car runs on electricity from the battery and Alternator..if any of those go bad then it will stall, shut off or barely run and set on those lights.think of it like your cell phone, when the battery is low on the phone, certain things won't work like your camera flash or a certain app because it uses alot of electricity. So bottom line is to have the battery and check engine light scanned..Autozone does both for free and tell them to check the charging system too which is your Alternator...so 3 things you need to do, battery check,Alternator check and scan the check engine light for a trouble code. By they way did this just happen after a gasoline fill up? Or did you have this all the time? Or did this just start out of nowhere..that check engine light trouble code could be key...

It could be that the ac compressor is binding and trying to stall the engine..does the compressor make any noise when its on?

Had a mustang that wouldn't start..cranked like a low battery..installed a new battery..still cranked slow..ended up cutting the belt off and it started just fine..ended up the ac compressor was frozen..which in turn was attached by the belt to the crankshaft giving it a hard time to spin over

@@alyoungcuda it's been doing it for a couple years like if I turn the car on and use the air that's when it starts running a little funny and yes it does make a little noise it even sounds like sometimes the belt gets stuck when I make a turn and then it jerks a little bit feels like it's going to stall it still keeps going but it only doesn't want to run the AC I have a 2006 Ford Taurus

Taurus only has 1 belt..with the ac off it spins on the compressor free wheeling pulley..when you turn the ac on the ac clutch engages and now you are spinning the compressor and thats giving you the resistance..same as the mustang I just wrote about..you need a new ac compressor

Hey man I got a 05 mustang GT deluxe, seems that it will be jerking and bucking while I accelerate from a stop dosent do it on highways only acelerating gets very annoying, it does have a shift kit but Ik that’s not the issue

1st thing I would do is to try taking off from a stop and manually shifting it from low then up towards drive..see if it does it in low gear manually...

Only in low gears? Thats weird, check your engine speed and make sure there is nothing grabbing like the brakes.

If it didn't happen before the gas fill up, its the gas..you have a bad batch, install a bottle of the water remover and add a gas treatment too..burn it down low and repeat the 2 bottles and buy premium gasoline for the next fill..stay away from that gas station

My Lexus ES 330 shakes when i am taking off my foot from gas and press again. Gear is shifting smoothly but in any speed i am driving and taking off the gas and press again , car shakes little bit. I searched info in google and i couldn't find it. Also from the signal my car moving very slowly and not picking up fast. I changed all plugs and coils , but still slow pick up. If anybody may encounter these issues, i will appreciate if you share your experience. Thanks

Sounds like an intake hose leaking and sucking in air..the hose that connects your air filter to the throttle plate..and or your throttle plate needs to be cleaned..if you remove the intake hose you will see the throttle plate..clean that up, carburetor cleaner with a rag..open the plate wide and spray in there too...on the hose look for cracks..

A 2011 Dodge Charger RT And no the rpms are normally and it shifts smooth all the gears it’s only when I put it on reverse it has a slight jerk to it but when I put it on drive you can feel the jerk harder

In drive sounds like a transmission issue, did you ever change the filter and oil in the transmission? Don't be sold by a transmission Flush, change the filter and add new transmission oil.

Are you sure the engine is not pinging from lack of octane or a tune up? A bad knock sensor can cause the jerk, its trying not to blow up the engine, so it cuts the power down. As for cat codes it could be from anything from a tuneup to an air leak. You can also have water in the tank..

In park or neutral and you accelerate is it smooth? And do you have a check engine light on?...did you try the above chemicals and burn the gas all the way down as low as you can go and refill with high quality premium gas..?

Sounds like the hose from your air cleaner box to your throttle plate could be cracked or dried out and sucking in unwanted air..and while you are there spray clean your throttle plate..it should be clean air going thru and a dirty plate will cause that along with a dirty air filter..

Even thou you are looking at the rpm gauge..its just a range of when things happen..with the car in park and you rev it up and hold it between the 1 and 2 is it still jerking? The engine is misfiring or running rough in that range? If not then its something else..depending on the car it could be a sensor or a mechanical problem or in the distributor if it has one.

Checked your transmission fluid? Even thou it has no check engine light if you scan it you might have a drivetrain code stored in it..go have it scanned
