I am over the moon at the fact that my country Somalia is heading a step in the right direction on achieving stability, and economic growth, and eliminating the terrorists that created 30 years of painful distraction in the country's political stability, poverty on people's lives and never-ending mistrust amongst tribes We enter a new great chapter to have a vision of making our country Somalia great again. I hope Somalis understand the importance of this partnership with Turkey and it will only succeed when Somali people assist/work well with Turkey to achieve our objective. There some tribes trying to spread propaganda and create suspicion amongst people about the motives of Turkey helping us to safeguard the long coast of Somalia. Please stop it and let's support our president Xasan Sheekh to unify our people When the power of loving our country gets control of the division and tribals nonsense, that's only, when Somalis will know peace and prosperity ❤🇸🇴💗

The agreement between Somalia and Turkey is an economic and security agreement. The defense of the long coast of Somalia against the aggressors and exploration resources! this is something that both countries benefit from! The cooperation and relationship between the two brotherly countries of Turkey and Somalia is one that has existed for hundreds of years. It is not something that has just started.

@@MJ-vt4lwfailed state maybe, but not failed society. We still here living better than average; crimewise, per capita, we are nowhere near that of first world countries. Maybe having functioning state is not the only way to exist. As for exploitation; we do need big brother and Turkey, with a historical trustworthyness, is best choice for this task. Our relationship goes back to birth of the ottoman and they have not failed us since. Thanks for your concern though.

This is a win win agreement and, cooperation between the brotherly countries. Turkey can provide a much needed security environment that Somalia needs to prosper. Also, Somalia can provide Turkey geopolitical space and, unparalleled trading opportunities on fishing, natural resources and market for Turkish products. I hope this cooperation succeeds.

We Somalis need Turkiye agreement to be strategic and deep to help Somalia for: 1) The exploration and investment of Somalia's Gas and oil reserves at land and sea, which is believed to be the largest oil reserve in Africa. 2) The rebuilding of harmonized somali national army that include Navy, air and ground forces. One thing Turkiye has note is that, all ll somalis believe Turkiye as genuine partner to helping Somalis rebuilt their state economy and military.

Turkey wields significant soft power in Africa, particularly in Somalia. They have taken on several infrastructure projects such as building hospitals, roads, and airports in addition to providing security to the region. This further strengthens their role as a security architect in the area, helping to prevent any radicalization or tourism in the region. Turkey has soft power since we share the same faith. Thank you Turkey for being there for Somalia when Somalia was and is in need. A friend in need, is a friend indeed. We will never forget President Erdogan and his wife’s visit to Somalia during the famine when Somalia was too risky and a ‘No Go’ area’. Thank you for your continuous financial and military support. We see Turkey as our brothers. Thank you for putting a stop to the expansionist policy of Abiy. Due to the help of Turkey, Somalia will rise up again strong and united.

Somaliland is part of Somalia. The people in Somaliland are ethnic Somali and share the same culture language it's not like other African countries'Somalia situation. Somalia is surviving because of Ethiopian protection from Alshebab, Ethiopia has more than 20K military personal in a failed state of Somalia, the reason why Somalia is bending over to Turkey is that Ethiopia is pulling out all the military force out of Somalia. Ethiopia benefited a lot from Somali civil war past decades , but that era is over as Somalia is back! Somaliland is a country with 5000year history and was a British protectorate 1884 to 26june1960 when it gained recognition from 35countriea including Britian, USA and Israel. Somalia was a slave market for Oman from 1600s and Miuqdisho was founded by the Omani Sultan of Zanzibar. Somalia was sold by Oman to Italy for 60,000Litra 1889 in 1925 gained the.province of Jubaland from British East Africa. Somalia gained independence 1July1960. The two countries attempted to forma Union and this failed from 1961 to 1991. Since 1991 the two countries have had divergent political, economic and cultural paths that have become irreconcilable. Whole Somalia was recognised as a De'Jure country in 2012 spear headed by USA. Somaliland is still pursuing its re-recognition as it has self determined and self governed since 1991 as a De'Facto. The intended Union of the two countries was never made legal or binding and the matter should be resolved through international arbitration not endless conflict.

Somalia and Turkey 🇹🇷 have defended this land since the 16th century against Abyssinian aggression. Ottomans were fighting against the Adal Empire and the Ajuuran Empire against Abyssinia. Shabab was formed in 1990 in Bossasso Somalia it was then called Al-ithihaad. Hassan abshir Farax and Abdillahi Yusuf fought against them.and in the end 70,000 Ethiopian troops assisted. Shabab is currently in the government of hassan shiiq... - Minister of religion is shabab - Head of Military is Shabab - Minister of aviation is Shabab Infact 50% of government, Parliament, police, military, private sector and civil society in Somaia are former members of Shabab.

Somaliland and Somalia have never had a legaly binding Union... That is why Somalia cannot got near Somaliland since 1991 when they by popular referendum voted 97% to dissolve the failed illegal Union. Everything else is minor politics... Unity is something that comes through peace, love and common interest. The so-called claim to Unity intended by Somalia is annexation by force, coercion and arming rebel groups? That is not Unity and will lead to destruction of the horn.

HSM ignored this deal and actually downsized Turkey and Qatar's role in Somalia and increased UAE's influence. However, the MoU with SL forced him to completely move back in the other direction. This deal is literally Ethiopia's own fault. Even Djibouti just signed a similar deal with Turkey, btw. Had you not threatened Eritrea, Djibouti, and Somalia this wouldn't be happening. Ethiopia can only blame itself.

Somalia & Somaliland meetings in Turkey didn't make any progress as nothing agreed upon was fulfilled by Somalia which led to the current situation. The agreements remains on paper. Making them come together again won't yield anything other than more problems.

The name Somaliland is fake name. The region called Somaliland is divided into 4 regions. SSC State also known as ( Khatumo state ) which is part of Somalia government. Also, there's AWDAL State which just made their own administration to govern. The last one is Hargeisa state a small clan called Isaq they are divided into two parts some who are with the government and the other who claim to be a self-govern country. There's is makhir state but they joined ssc state.

When the British wanted to invade Somalia, they targeted to regions of Somalia first was the Northwest Gulf of Adan and the second was Kismaayo southwest of Mogadishu. These two regions are both Somaliland. Meaning of Somali - Land it's the Land of Somalia they want to occupy. they want to take by force. Another meaning Invade.

@@samsufi-t5f first the British never invaded a country called Somalia. There didn't exist any country called Somalia back then. They entered into a protectorate agreement with Somaliland hence the name Somaliland British protectorate. It's borders was established in 1931-32 and you can search for the document if you like. While the Italians colonised the current FGS so it was a colony of Italy and untill now the borders italian somaliana border with Ethiopia is in dispute and was never resolved or ratified internationally. They were never one. That's if you are looking for a justification that Somaliland and Somalia are the same. Only after they United in 1960 there came to legal existence of a country called Somali Republic but that union was never ratified. Any way you are more interested in the map as I mentioned earlier. The UK and Italian archive's are full of useful documents for in-depth historical background of the subject matter if you wish or have interest in historical facts or knowledge about your country

They however entered into a protectorate agreement with Somaliland hence the name Somaliland British protectorate the borders with Italian colony and Ethiopia was established during 1931-32. The Italo-somali or Italian Somaliland was a colony. Only after the Italians were defeated did Britain take over the Italian colony but later gave it back to Italy So they became an Italian trusteeship. The border of Italian Somalia with Ethiopia is untill today disputed and was never agreed upon. So anyway all that facts can be found in British and Italian archives if you are interested in historical background of the region I recommend you to look.

I think the concern for Ethiopians is the timing of this deal, not the nature of this deal. Also, this deal happened moments after Turkeye smoothened out relations with Egypt, which is an anti-Ethiopian country in the geopolitical sense.

This deal was originally inked in late 2019 early 2020 by the former President Farmaajo. He couldn't sign it though due to an internal power struggle. The new president actually threw the entire agreement in the bin and gave a cold shoulder to Turkey as he was heavily influenced by UAE. The MoU changed that and brought this deal back to the table. Both Egypt and Turkey agree with this deal. We should expect big news with Egypt in the coming weeks.

There will be no agreement or negotiations with Ethiopia after the matter has reached this point, Any concession made by the President of Somalia means betrayal of the country and the nation. The only option available to Ethiopia is to formally apologize, stop its interference in Somali politics, and stop provoking political war. Ethiopia should be satisfied with the port of Djibouti and not look for any other port, especially from Somalia, because Somalia cannot conclude any agreement at the present time. Perhaps after terrorism ends and the state controls all its lands and becomes able to build such projects, then it is possible to search for Options. There will be no negotiation and joint development with a country controlled by an idiot who knows nothing about politics and threatens a regional war if he does not get what he wants. Perhaps after years, when the situation and political ideology change in Ethiopia, perhaps then negotiations can be made, and of course there will not be any military bases or even part of the port’s shares. Only use will be allowed and taxes will be deducted from each ship, etc.

From the stand point of Somaliland, Somalia and Turkiye is a asymmetrical in this agreement. In addition, Somaliland has irregular relations with Turkiye. The current arrangement will not serve the interest of the unrepresented country in any diplomatic fora. The assumption that Somaliland will normalize the arrangement for the simple reason of Somaliland-Somalia talks must be absurd. Furthermore, the talk of benefiting with the agreement is relatively the continuation of Turkiye view regarding its selfish interest.
