To be clear, we are talking about aroma from environmentally controlled space stations which has oxygen; We are not referring to what space smells like; however, if oxygen was everywhere in space, we could breath the smell of burning stars.

Really funny that you just came out with this video, last week on the German late-night show "neo Magazin Royale" a german Astronaut was asked that question and Said that for him and many other it's "the smell of walnut and break discs, like the ones on my motorcycle, it's a very mineral smell". The explanation for the breaking disc smell is that there are millions of particles rubbing against the space suit while in space, the walnut smell though is probably just subjective.

If you've ever been in a tanning bed, smell your skin after a session. It smells similar to your description. The UV rays react with your skin and oils on your skin to create a distinct smell. It's possible that solar radiation is reacting with spacesuits and astronauts to create the smell.

It makes perfect sense to me. In space, there is no ozone layer to shield UV rays. Any object floating in space that has ever come close to a star will have been seared to a crisp. And by "close" i mean no further out than Mars. Metal surfaces in direct sunlight at a distance from the Sun comparable to Earth can get as hot as 400 degrees Celsius. Small particles would naturally be the most susceptible to interstellar frying. While space is mostly void, it does contain minute traces of dust particles left over from when our Solar System formed. These particles are probably charred by unfiltered sunlight. So naturally, anyone outside on a spacewalk is going to be swimming in a sea of charred dust particles. When they return to ISS, there now exists an atmosphere that the scent permeates. If I had to guess, I would imagine it smells comparable to hot charcoal on a grill, as that's more or less what you're smelling --- charred rock.
