I was just typing out a comment about this. Regarding the loyalty of the wand to the first owner, wouldn't it make sense that it was loyal to Death then? Wasn't that the point of the tale of the 3 brothers? The wand was HANDED by Death, not beaten the first time. Death never lost a duel with the wand. The wand chooses a Potter could be a nod to the 3rd brother for being the most clever in mastering death, same as with Harry.

Ollivander seems to understand wands the most intimately, and he always emphasized "the wand chooses the wizard Mr Potter." I also think the wand is imbued with great power too. That is why Dumbledore, so easily, beat Voldemort at the Ministry. Lets suppose that Death performed amazing magic to create the wand and the wand automatically chose Death to be the primary owner. (This is assuming deathly hallows were not created by human wizards but Death himself) Death simply gave the wand without the brother winning it, so it still remembered its primary owner. However, I think Death allowed the brother to become the secondary owner of the wand. Death was cunning and planned to kill the brother by fueling his arrogance which is what ended up happening. Maybe Death's success further made Death the primary owner of the wand. Further proof of Death continuing to be the primary owner is that death seems to unnaturally surround this elder wand. In deathly hallows they talk about how its "bloody history" has been documented. (On a sidenote, if the oldest brother had been smarter plus I believe that the wand has been blessed with great power, which together could have allowed Death to lose, and the wand would not have led to a bloody history.) Initially Death imbued the wand with the rule that it must be "won" by for example expelliarmus or a physical tussle. Noting the arrogance of the first brother, this is actually genius, because if someone steals the wand in that manner, the oldest brother's ego would be hurt and he would try to kill the thief. Then came Grindelwald who won the wand by expelliarmus from the window I believe. Grindelwald kills alot of people which means Death is still winning and is the primary owner, I think JK makes a mistake at the next step though. The slightly more talented dumbledore should have lost to Grindelwald + the magic in the wand in a fair fight. Then comes Harry. Harry beat Death as a baby first with the help of dumbledore and lily. He then beats Death in sorcerers stone, chamber and goblet of fire. Harry wrestles draco(who won elder wand from dumbledore) making him the secondary owner as well. Harry beats Death, Lily's blood, against elder wand again in the forest. (I would have preferred he had used the stone but whatever...) Before the final avada at school, Harry has beaten Death like 5 times, so for the first time Death is no longer the primary owner. Harry has also won the elder wand from Draco, as well as survived an elder wand attack making him a super strong secondary owner as well. Now.. Harry who is all about saving life has beaten Death too severely and won the wand too favorably. So the wand in voldemorts hand wont allow harm on anyone at Hogwarts.

If you read the books, Dumbledore tells Harry that he believes the Peverell brothers were simply very gifted wizards who created these items-- and that they are merely proof of the wizards talent. The story, like any myth, is an exaggeration of what really happened. "Oh yes, I think so. Whether they met Death on a lonely road... I think it more likely that the Peverell brothers were simply gifted, dangerous wizards who succeeded in creating those powerful objects. The story of them being Death's own Hallows seems to me the sort of legend that might have sprung up around such creations." The books also explain why Voldemort can't hurt anyone in Hogwarts. It says clearly that when Harry sacrificed himself to save everyone at the school, he instituted the same magical protection that Lily gave him as a child when she sacrificed herself to save him. Everyone harry sacrificed himself for could not be harmed by Voldemort at that point. "Don't you get it? I was ready to die to stop you from hurting these people" "But you did not!" "I meant to, and that's what did it. I've done what my mother did. They're protected from you. Haven't you noticed how none of the spells you put on them are binding? You can't torcher them. You can't touch them. You don't learn from your mistakes, Riddle, do you?" Don't overthink it with this crazy fan-theory stuff. The books do a good job of explaining it clearly. Most of these fan-theory people never even read the books... lol.

I really like this theory, however, i would go even further and say this: There is no Ace, the wand will never find "the greatest wizard of all time" because there is no such thing, the only true master of the wand was the one who was powerful enough to create her, Death itself, death is so powerful it could create this wand and form there on the wand wants to find its way back to the most powerful person its seen. And due to this Harry wins, Voldemort vs Harry is a King vs another King, however, Harry here is the master of Death, he is the only person who had the resurrection stone, and the cloak of invisibility, and the wand senses this in him, and in its pursuit to find the greatest wizard it knows (Death), she goes to Harry as she senses he is the Master of Death.

According to this theory, It's not a matter of learning the magic, it's about how powerful the wizard is. Like Ben said what the wand learns is how powerful the wizard is, the wizard learns nothing from it. It's a state of mind people believe the wand makes them more powerful. I believe it's one of death's tricks.
@gender-gremlin
@gender-gremlin 4 жыл бұрын
The wizard using the wand could "level up" or grow more powerful if the elder wand deems them worthy of some of the knowledge it has. Wizards in Harry Potter become more powerful when they learn how to use and control their power. (at least that seems to be what happens) So if the wand's current owner is powerful enough to gain some of the wisdom stored inside it (whether by teaching the wand something new, merit, etc..) then the wand will allow access to some of it's knowledge.

Consider this. What if the elder wand lies outside wand lore? What if the elder wand shows loyalty to those who possess Peverall blood? The wand may have betrayed Grindelwald because Dumbledore may be more closely related to the Peverell family than Grindelwald. If the elder wand is a family heirloom and shows more loyalty to someone who possesses more family blood, then maybe it never bonded to Voldemort because he had so very little of his soul left. In addition Harry possessed two other deathly hallows which are also inheritances from the Peverell family. This would mark him and prove to the wand that he has a stronger blood bond to the magical item and therefore the wand would obey Harry over Voldemort

@MrAnonymousization
@MrAnonymousization Жыл бұрын
I think I’m going to make a YT video on my own theory that I’m not sure if others have thought of it before. That the Elder Wand doesn’t necessarily pick “Who is the stronger Witch/Wizard.” But is instead loyal to the one who does not fear death, or who has accepted his mortality. Remember, Death first gave the Deathly Hallows to the brothers hoping to eventually trap or trick them toward their own demise. So gifting the Elder Wand to someone who is afraid to die is a perfect way to trap them into a false sense of security which will lead to their inevitable demise. However, if the person who has the Elder Wand has come to accept their own mortality, and has “embraced death” not as a foe, but a friend and natural part of life, then the Elder Wand will serve that person greatly by becoming the wielded friend. This is why Dumbledore was able to possess the wand for so many years, he had accepted death long ago, and was not afraid to give his life in order to save his students and destroy Voldemort. Harry had accepted his death earlier in the story just before letting Voldemort kill him. Afterwords Dumbledore says “You are the true master of death, because the true master does not seek to run away from Death. He accepts that he must die, and understands that there are far, far worse things in the living world than dying." Harry earlier states that “Harry understood at last that he was not supposed to survive. His job was to walk calmly into Death's welcoming arms.” When you consider all of this, it makes perfect sense why Voldemort ended up losing to Harry Potter in the end, despite being the “More Powerful Wizard”. What was the one thing Voldemort was always running from? The reason why he made the Horcrux, why he murdered so many others? It’s because he didn’t want to die. He wanted to “Live forever.” He was so terrified of death, that he killed scores of people in order to avoid facing it. So when it came time to clash wands against Harry, who had already accepted death, the Elder Wand not only chose Harry as it’s true wielder, but also out right despised Voldemort. Witnessing Harry Potters sacrifice first hand in the forbidden forest, the Elder Wand knew that he, Harry Potter should be its new master… not this scummy coward who had not come to accept his own mortality. That’s my theory anyways. I’m not sure how well it hold up to other quotes from Rowling, but I like to think that the there is a lot more going on with what the Elder Wand is thinking that what meets the eye. That it is in fact VERY loyal, but only to those who are the Masters of Death. Not “the most powerful” per say, but the one who no longer fears death, and appreciates it as just another part of life.

Harry is affected by his bogart-dementor the same way he's affected by real dementors. The Hogwarts students have the bogart lesson with Lupin the year after a basilisk terrorized the school. I can imagine some students would be terrified by basilisks after that. If a bogart became a basilisk during one of Lupin's lessons, would every student in the classroom die immediately?

HEY GUYS I HAVE A THEORY PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR THOUGHTS "The wand chooses the wizard" is something we are all familiar with. I would be content to believe that this is simply because some wands are better suited for certain wizards, and leave it at that, but for a rather startling realisation I had recently. In HBP, Harry finds various incantations in Snape's old copy of *Advanced Potion-Making,* and he uses *at least two* of these spells, *successfully,* without knowing what they were supposed to do. This completely blows the idea that magic is *all about intent* completely out of the water (although some spells, namely the Cruciatus Curse and the Patronus Charm, do require certain mindsets for them to be effective). In that case, how on earth would either *Levicorpus* or *Sectumsempra* have worked, given that all he had were the incantations? He had absolutely no clue what *Sectumsempra* would do, or he would never have used it. So, why did it work? The only thing, apart from Harry, that played a part in casting that curse was *his wand.* Could the wand itself recognise what a curse is supposed to do from the incantation? Is that why one must always pronounce the incantations correctly, and why non-verbal spells are so difficult? If the way to get a spell to work is to communicate the incantation to your wand, and with non-verbal spells you have to do so *silently,* I can see how it would be difficult. So, what does this *mean?* Does the wand literally choose the wizard? Is it capable of recognising similarities and differences in its own magic and the wizard trying it out, and of rejecting or accepting that wizard accordingly? Does this mean that the Elder Wand is simply the *most sentient* wand, and that's why it's known as the most powerful? That it's just easiest to communicate with, and therefore the easiest wand to use? If that is true, is it possible that it's been picking up unique skills from each wizard that has wielded it, the way Harry's wand picked up some of Voldemort's magic in the graveyard due to the wands being connected? That it is in fact the most powerful wand simply because it has had powerful owners, that only came to own it because of its reputation as the most powerful wand in the first place? It's quite the beautiful circle. This heightened awareness could also be the reason it always changes its allegiance to the one who defeated its former master: That all wands *would* change their allegiance in the same way, but they don't recognise when their master is beaten. If that is true, is Draco Malfoy's hawthorn wand special, or is the Elder Wand just so aware of what is happening that it recognised that someone had beaten its master, and promptly switched allegiance on its own, prompting the hawthorn wand to do the same? On a relatively unrelated note: Could wands theoretically be Confunded by a powerful enough wizard (or a sentient enough wand)? What would happen if a wand *was* Confunded? Could it be made to believe that *Diffindo* has the same effect as *Wingardium Leviosa?* If so, could such a charm be used to confuse the Unforgivable Curses with other incantations? Or could one confuse a wand into thinking that, for example, "FORWARD!" is an incantation? (I now think that Hagrid's "umbrella" has definetely been mended, and more than likely tampered with, by Dumbledore.) Could one convince a wand that its allegiance lies with someone who has never beaten its rightful owner in their life? That its master is a different wizard than it should rightfully be? If so, would one need the Elder Wand in order to achieve such a Confundus Charm, or would one simply have to be a powerful wizard? Barty Crouch Junior did manage to Confund the Goblet of Fire, after all. Discuss.

This is the theory of magic, aka magicology. Some say magic incantations are prayers to supernatural beings, like demons, angels, genii, or gods -- which is why magic is forbidden in judæo-christian tradition. But what if a wand learns the meanings given by its master's intent? Or more generally, the community of wands and wizards learn the meanings given by the present and former wands and wizards? This is why incantations are in ancient languages, even when they're new ones like levicorpus and sectumsempra.

I have only one problem with this theory: Dumbledore sees himself as the master of the Elder wand and actively tried to break its power by dying undefeated. That means he believed (or knew from experience) that the wand truly has unusual powers and that he won its allegiance from Grindelwald. Dumbledore surely wouldn't have given the wand's power any further thought if he had beaten Grindelwald in a fair 1-on-1 by being just a tiny bit more powerful or if he didn't witness any of that power throughout the half century that he owned it.
@christopherbrown1848

Yeah, he mentions that Voldemort is the only one who was powerful enough to recognize that he wasn't actually getting a boost from the Elder Wand, but he also said Dumbledore was equally powerful, so he really should have realized it as well if that were the case. I suspect Dumbledore had to defeat Grindelwald via some manner of magical distraction at the end of their wizarding duel, and has every reason to believe in its power seeing Grindelwald's magic up close without and with its additional power.
@lateralhistory

But even this holds up, I think, as Dumbledore would have been at that time the closest thing to the master of death. He was in possession of the Resurrection Stone and the Elder Wand, and he had also at one stage been in possession of the Cloak. He never held all three at the same moment, but he got closer than anyone. And you could argue that as Harry - the possessor of the Cloak - was "Dumbledore's man", he sort of "had" the Cloak too. What undid him was that he was weakened and dying in the moment Draco found him. If he had still been physically strong, I don't think the wand would have left him, except for Harry.

I think Dumbledore's weakness lay in the placebo effect. He seems to be torn up by guilt and regret a lot of the time by his mistakes, and, whilst other people saw him as brilliant and very powerful, I think he probably had a low self image and some form of imposter syndrome due to his regret. I wonder if he attributed powerful feats to the wand rather than himself due to this mental distortion. He also mentioned that the Hallows was one of his weaknesses, and I wouldn't be surprised if he ignored anything that didn't conform to the 'most powerful wand' thing because, if he didn't, he would have had to accept that his greatest mistakes were due to him chasing a lie, taking away the last justification from his actions; that the dreams he abandoned his family for were worth attaining.

Or it could have been that the Elder Wand was different to other wands in that it amplified the magic that was already there, far more efficiently than any other wand, it’s legendary as a powerful wand for a reason. We always see Dumbledore doing pedestrian, simple tasks that wouldn’t have outlined him as much more monstrously powerful than any other wizard, probably to ensure the wand remains covert. He could’ve performed miracles but he preferred the stealthy option, otherwise he would’ve had other Hallow hunters on his back the moment he outed himself. "The hair may die and need replacing" leads me to think that, if the elder wand is treated very well, it is prone to happiness and the thestral hair might come alive. Maybe that's when the extra power actually comes into play. I think that is part of why it seemed so loyal to Dumbledore--he wasn't egotistical and power mad, but he was powerful. He didn't boast about having it, but he used it to perform acts of great good. I think the wand takes into account more than just raw power, seeking a wizard with power tempered by wisdom. When it's current master fails to make it come alive, the thestral hair is dead, it's just a wand, and it will move on to the next wizard who might have what it takes to wake it up. The elder wand never betrayed Dumbledore, and I don't think it would have if he'd chosen to defend himself. Like the third brother, he had the wisdom to face death as an old friend when his time came. The wand went back to being just a wand, fickle, seeking the next wizard with the wisdom to wake it.

Think about it; harry potter is highly skilled in both light and dark magic, with his knowledge about powerful magical spells and objects, powerful in both love for good and hatred towards evil, and overall, he has always been in the right place at the right time since he got that first letter. Draco didn't even have it in his possession let alone have it anywhere near him. Voldemort already had it and it knew Voldemort was more powerful. At that point why would the elder wand even care about the Draco anymore??? If wands select the wizard and the elder wand ALWAYS picks the strongest then that means that Draco would be the wands afterthought cuz he is way weaker than Voldemort. Not to mention Harry disarming Draco while he used someone else's wand (i believe it was his mother's) would mean that the wand Draco used would have been the one that belonged to Harry.

13:55, how casual Albus is described as he fights Tom in the book suggests he isn’t given it his all, but is still seemingly close to beating Tom anyway. The fight is portrayed as far more even in the film but even then, Tom is the only one to take what would even remotely count as a hit when Albus encases him in a sphere of water. It truly appears as though Albus is still more powerful than Tom. 14:21, Despite Albus being physically weakened, he still demonstrated the ability to unleash a firestorm at perhaps the height of his weakened state. If he chose to engage Draco, it’s likely he could have defended against him easily, but simply chose not to fight him. Following this theory, the wand can’t make sure the stronger duelist wins if there’s no duel.

I agree with Galaxy besides Harry was already deemed equal when he was marked at 1 year old to Voldemort by Voldemort himself. Technically after that point he was growing and powering up with each event that he had to overcome. Him making the choice to die literally just took him to a new level of power that no one has been able to reach because they feared to die.

I agree. But I would still say that in that time between them two he is the stronger link. I disagree that Harry is the ultimate best wizard ever. The wand chose him out of the two wizards that were fighting then and there. However, Harry did one thing which no other owner of the wand did. He challenged the wand itself. He realised that he doesnt need the wand, but other, potentially dangerous wizards will want it. Death's circle worked as long as wizards agreed that the elder wand works and so powerful wizards kept on fighting for it. Now? Who's gonna fight Harry for a wand he doesn't have? Didn't Harry outsmart death? Isn't he, truly, superior to death?

at the point he fights him, he is. Your soul is very important to your power as a wizard. Harry had 100% of his soul, Voldy did not. At this point it was Voldy and the Snake. When she was killed, Voldy got even weaker so... By transit property, Harry is an ace at that point.

Lol what? Harry literally survives Voldemort on more than just a few occasions. Harry survived Voldemort as a baby, in the dungeons where Quirrell was present, against a Basilik that is controlled by Tom, who is present there, and then Harry survives the graveyard, the battle of Ministry, when the 7 Potters were heading to a safe house and Harry's wand shot golden flames, surviving the killing curse in the forest and within an hour, he survives another killing curse by Voldemort and eventually killed Voldemort. How many people and Harry Potter characters do you know that betrayed Death this many times? How many wizards have fought Voldemort and survived for round 2 or even 3? Yet you say Harry isn't an ace, even against Voldemort? Sure thing.

as someone who has some interest in tarot and knows the corresponding suits to those of playing cards, it would be as follows: spades (swords aka air aka winter) would be ravenclaw, as this is the suit mostly related to issues of the mind. clubs (wands aka fire aka spring) would be gryffindor, as this is the suit having to do with our passion and drive. hearts (cups aka water aka summer) would definitely be hufflepuff as this is the suit of emotions. diamond (pentacles aka earth aka fall) would be the slytherins, as this particular suit has a lot to do with the “material” world in how it relates to growth and work and finances.

But I still believe in the theory that Dumbledore was the one who restored Hagrid’s wand and put it in the pink umbrella. We know his wand was snapped in half and Harry is pretty sure that the pieces were put in the umbrella because how else would the umbrella become magic? But Hagrid’s wand was definitely unable to produce magic after being snapped completely and yet the umbrella produces great magic! How in the world did they repair the wand?? The only person who would ever think to do that is Dumbledore because he’s the only person who believed Hagrid was innocent and deserving of magic. Are you saying that Dumbledore was able to restore it because he himself was very powerful? Because that still doesn’t make sense with the theory, if dumbledore is a king and Harry’s an ace then surely Harry would’ve been able to restore his wand with hermione’s wand the first time he tried it? So I still think the elder wand does grant it’s master more power but maybe it just gives power to the most powerful wizard to have yet possessed it? Dumbledore won over Grindelwald but became weak so he lost against Malfoy who was the master of the wand but wouldn’t have been able to use any extra magic because he wasn’t a king like dumbledore. The wand was then stolen by Voldy but again it didn’t give him anything extra because he was still weaker than Albus but Harry was at least as powerful as Albus so Harry could use the elder wand to it’s full potential.
@Damon242

How on earth was Harry at least as powerful as Dumbledore? Harry is an 18 year old kid who hasn’t even graduated Wizarding school Voldemort, who wasn’t even as talented as Grindelwald and feared to confront Dumbledore (who only used defensive spells during their duel), would have destroyed Harry if not for the elder wand being loyal to him In fact, if Voldemort had used any other wand during their encounter in the great hall then he would have killed Harry as his sacrificial protection applied to every other person he died for but not himself

What if death is the elder wands true owner, and I'm pretty sure he'd still be the wands owner forever. So everyone who ever use the wand could never use the full power, just enough to know its the strongest. Basically how I think it would give that perception is that the base power it can output is league's above other wands so you end up telling yourself it must be even stronger at full power. Then you use it to the max let's say 50% "true power" and it still appears stronger since its harder to see a difference when it scales. And then when you really want it to win and give like 120% power it just doesn't because it's capped. And you end up dying because you believed it would be able to do way more.

The way I always saw it was that since the wand chooses it's owner and when asking for a wand the brother said "a wand that must always win duels for its owner" and since possession does not equal ownership. like you said, the wand chooses the owner at the beginning of the duel and thus it's owner wins. I think it fits perfectly with the legend just people viewed possession as the same as ownership.

I always felt that this was somewhat the case, that the Elder Wand could somewhat unlock the magical potential you already have, while not necessarily adding to or increasing it (unless you are master of death). Always felt it was very telling, that no one (besides Harry i.e. fixing his Phoenix wand), not even Voldemort, could perform impossible magic with it. Always felt that one of the only things that made the Elder wand special, was the fact that it could be used by ANY wizard without real issue, which incidentally is one of the most dangerous things about it. Like they say, the wand chooses the wizard; and if any wizard can use the Elder however they want, then the Elder Wand can use any wizard however it wants

There is a huge plot hole surrounding the elder wand, can you please make a theory about it: the plot hole is that Draco can't receive the elder wand because he is not powerful enough for the elder wand to pledge allegiance and Dumbledore also allowed himself to be disarmed, so if we follow the rules, then Dumbledore is still the master of the elder wand. You could say that Snape killed him, but Dumbledore asked for Snape to do that, so it won't work, so Harry was never the Master of the Elder Wand, but that doesn't matter because the actual reason that Harry lived was because Voldemort used Lily's blood to rebuild his body in the Goblet of Fire and that tethered Harry to life as long as the blood flowed in Voldemort's veins, that and the fact that Voldemort was not the master of the elder wand means that Harry was never the Master. This theory says that since Harry is the Master of Death, the elder wand chooses him but this part of the plot hole because harry was never the master of death since he wasn't the master of the elder wand yet, so this theory is wrong.

Theory aligns with the story of afro samurai. The characters want the number 1 headband to get huge power but ultimately achieving victory against the current number 1 and all successive headbands just proves you are the best but not as a result of the headband but yet they still take it and the head band for reputation and it doesn't actually give you any power. It's just a circle of death as the protagonist is warned.

14:50, regardless of Dumbledore’s weakened state, he would still have more than enough power to beat Draco if he chose to (considering the inferno he conjured while weakened and his more composed state when faced by Draco). Similarly to Harry not engaging Voldemort in the woods, Dumbledore seemed to choose not to engage Draco. If the theory is correct, the wand can’t sabotage the weaker wizard during a duel…if there’s no duel.

I think you're mixing up being powerful with being knowledgeable and practiced. This theory suggests that, at that point in time, Draco had the *potential* to cast more powerful magic than Dumbledore. Draco probably didn't know the fire spell Dumbledore used earlier, but if he had and had some practice Draco had the raw power to cast it stronger than Dumbledore due to Dumbledore's condition.

Eh no. This entire theory is predicated on the fact that Harry is either A. The strongest wizard of all time at age 17, even greater than Prime Dumbledore, or is unique in his status as "Master of Death" which is a pretty nonsensical and worthless title unless the literal Grim Reaper actually did craft the three items. But even if that were the case, Harry would not be master of the Elder Wand if we go by this theory, as he can't be master of the Elder Wand without already being master of the 3 Hallows. It's a paradox.

I think the reason why Draco Malfoy was able to disarm Dumbledore so easily was due to either Dumbledore's hesitance to use magic against a student or it could have been Dumbledore's plan to fall into their hands so Snape would be the one to kill him ensuring Snape gained more of Voldemort's trust. He did entrust Snape to be the one to finally explain the meaning behind the prophesy to Harry. If Voldemort was aware that Harry was a Horcrux he never intended to make, it would have been important to keep Harry alive instead of wanting to kill him. When he did use the Avada Kedavra curse on Harry in the dark forest, he eventually destroyed that part of his soul leaving Nagini as the last remaining horcrux that his soul was hidden in.

It actually makes a lot more sense for the elder wand to be monkey pawed like that, the whole point of the tale of the three brothers was that only the third one was clever enough to get a functional gift. Just like the resurrection stone goes "Here this is what you asked for, you can recall dead loved ones... Except not really this is just a ghost phone" the wand goes "Here this is what you asked for, this wand will always win the duels for it's master... Except not really because it will just switch to the other guy if you're losing and kill you, it can do like, one extra thing over a normal wand"

a flaw with this theory is that the the brother asked for the most powerful wand, not a wand that seeks a powerful wizard. The other two hallows did as requested so why wouldn't the elder wand also be as requested, the most powerful wand? Also, it's pretty clear that the line about the wand not doing anything alludes to the fact that it isn't loyal to voldemort. But by this theory it should be loyal to voldemort at those points.

The spade is the slytherin because of its association with digging, more specifically gravedigging. Gryffindor is diamonds because they got the true diamond in the rough with Harry being raised by muggles. Hufflepuff is hearts because of course it is. This leaves ravenclaw as clubs, which I think fits because of the 3 leaves on a clover and 3 claws of an eagle talon. If you disagree, don't @ me

Theory: What if the Elder wand (in it's entire existance) only ever had two masters? Death and then Harry? Everyone else was simply the possessor of the wand but not its master. The books call it "A wand worthy of a wizard who had conqured death." So if this were to be interpreted as a requirement of being the wand's true master, than there are only a few who have met this requirement. Death, obviously meets this criteria rather implicitly. The Youngest Brother (possibly), who turns himself in to death after living when he was ready, of course he was then dead by the time he proved himself worthy. Harry, who proves to be master of death when he sacrifices himself and comes back to live. In keeping with the card analogy, I don't think Harry was the ace the wand was looking for until after he came back. And, despite all the possessors over the years NONE of them were truly its master, it just changed hands as one wizard over powered another by one means or another. So until encountering the revived Harry (who had successfully conqured death and lived to tell about it), the wands only other master all along was death, which is why all the other possessors died despite the edge it was assumed to give them. The wand then gave itself to Harry who had conqured its previous master (and creator) Death.
