Why Does This Show Exist? | Dead City Season 1 Review

I have really struggled to find a reason why this show exists. It is not overtly bad or anything but it just doesn't bring anything new or creative to the table. It is just the same old drama we have seen time and time again. The New York setting was also very under utilized. What are your thoughts on The Walking Dead: Dead City? I actually disagree. Dead City is not mediocre, it's trash in every aspect. No original ideas, bad acting, poor writing, amateur direction, and the whole is just the worst possible combination of "more of the same" and a blatant attempt to bite Escape From New York. Waste of time.

He's the best character. Maggie was great too as their dynamic is what makes it interesting. Honestly the story is as good as it can be.

I thought their story wrapped up perfectly, why come back this where maggie hates negan again after coming to terms. She acts all high and mighty all while murdering people and their families while claiming shes never done anything bad. And she cannot keep track of her kid, this the 4th time he has been kidnapped. Get a leash. And we know glenn is dead, get over it. I don't want to see negan give his life just so maggie and her moronic kid can feel good about themselves. Im sick of hearing her complain, i guarentee if negan dies she will find others to murder then claim shes the good guy.

I agree. The writing on this show is borderline abysmal half the time and there are at least 2 "wait... WHAT?!" moments every episode where the audience is encouraged to suspend belief and just go with it. I gave up on this show twice. Now I kinda "hate watch" it since I'm 4 episodes in, but I mainly have it on as background noise when I'm doing something.

The writing was terrible. So many things happening solely for the sake of pushing the storyline. Why did the lady steal the backpack just to lead on a wild chase, oh so we can conveniently get M&N with the group. So much clumsy writing. Negan carries the show. The writers have no clue how to write Maggie in a post Glenn world.

I made it to season 7 in the main series. Just gave Dead City a try. When the girl ran off to Manhattan…by herself…it made me vividly remember why I stopped watching the main series. The writing is both incredibly dumb and lazy.

*Think they dropped the "Variant" walkers storyline because they were called out & roasted so hard on Twitter because these "Variants" were around in Seasons 1 & 2. That's right in Frank Darabont's The Walking Dead (Better written & more compelling story's were all under his watch, in my opinion.) but yeah! These walkers were trying doorknobs way back in the pilot & smashing windows with rocks & climbing fences in Episode 2, there were other examples of these walkers doing everything that was "so new & innovative" yeah! What made the series bad is the other survivors involved. Their actions are plain dumb and stupid. Its not like the zombie apocalypse just happened, its been almost 2 decades already and some survivor seems like they did not adapt. The group of Tomasso and the group hunting them were dumb and stupid. Also those people hunting Negan, travelling the entire state just to apprehend him, TF!?! It gets better on second viewing. It's really a character study on two fan favorites. It's got action and great dark visuals of a dystopian NYC and a complex villain. The twist ending was a nice bonus. Give it another chance.
