I’m from Cardiff, but my favourite part of Wales are definitely the mountains - The Brecon Beacons, around 45 miles north of Cardiff, and especially the Snowdonia mountain district in North Wales! If you are not a mountain hiker, did you know that there is a small train service that takes you to the summit of Wales’ highest mountain, Yr Wyddfa? It’s one of the most beautiful (summer) destinations I know!!

We're considered older than the Celts :) and we have nothing to do with the Germanic Anglo Saxons. in the early 2000's, thousands of DNA tests we're done across east England through wales and they had Germanic DNA while us welsh was a lot different :) There's an old video floating around from a new's report on the subject stating if you want to meet a true Briton come to wales.

did you know, that "doorne, in the game of thrones, was inspired by wales" ... also where do you think the dragon legend orignated?? if you have heard elvish in lord of the rings**,. then you already know something like welsh**, the welsh history and language pre date anglo saxon * roman britain, so its ancient, very old... everything from the national eiseddfodd, too the international eisteddfod is part of welsh culture... yes the home of king arthur, just one of many places laying claim to merlin, like cornwall,brittany too..

The Vale is more inspired by Wales geographically, with Snowdonia's welsh name being "Eyrie" and the mountain strongholds that proved insurmountable to penetrate. And in GoT, the title of heir to the throne is 'Prince of Dragonstone", a spin on "Prince of Wales". Also GRRM has stated flatly that the character of Tywin is chiefly inspired by Edward I and his famous demeanor, the relationship between Tywin and Tytos and Edward I and Henry III mirrors almost perfectly. Great video, guys, but I can't believe you drove through Machynlleth and didn't mention the seat of Owain Glyndŵr's Welsh Parliament. He was crowned Prince (King) of Wales in 1404 and Machynlleth was originally the ancient capital of Wales. It still has a few of the original Mediaeval houses in the town. The town is full of Welsh history.
