Why doesn't my Apex Locator work? Do this before you start your Root Canal.

Great tips there are a buch of other tips, sometimes you place the file into the canal and the apex locator goes bat shit crazy. check no fluid in pulp chamber, no contact on metal restorations, check that it actually isnt a perf! Sometimes too much fluid inside the canal and take a paper point. Ensure that the EAL is fully charged and another tip is every 2 weeks use the little tester module...not sure if all have this but I have a 6th gen by woodpecker that cost £300 and gets me reliable results, however that said there is literature out there that has come to the conclusion that no apex locator is going to be right 100% of the time but close enough to it, and there may be some occasions where you need to take a master apical file rad. What if the apex locator rings when the file doesn’t reach the working length (underinstrumentation) obviously? Excluding the possibility of perforation

Great finding, could you confirm the same with Eighteeth apex locator E-Pex you using (I bought the same, it has white line instead of blue) ... I made some tests myself on the fruits apple (instead of alginate). my tests revealed: when file was right at the proper place the apex locator displays full white line and 06 number ... I checked many times. advancing file even only to half to green bar, actually file was exceeded far blond form the anatomical apex by 1,5, 2 mm. ....Thank you V/R Alex
