I dunno why there is such disrespect for him. He might actually be banging them in, yes, but his biggest value is going to be unlocking Son. Watch the vintage, cut in from the left for a curled worldie top bins next season, all because Solanke draws in defenders and free up that space. 65 is steep, yes, but he's not just adding 20 goals; he'll be allowing Son and Madders to add about 10 more apiece.

This would make sense under a different manager but not Ange. Ange plays his wingers wide, and I mean wi~~~~de. Wingbacks occupy the space Son used to thrive at and Son will hug the line, more like a traditional winger. That's how Ange plays his wingers.
@gravitypebant4022
@gravitypebant4022 2 ай бұрын
@@pazthepole2814 He's about at that age when the dribbling ability starts to degrade. But on the flip side, Sonny was used mainly on the counter under Conte, more like a shadow striker to Kane. It wasn't his job to break down the defense. He's not as good as he was when he was younger but he still got it. It was evident towards the final 10 games of last season when Madders couldn't create if his life depended on it and Son had to play the main creator for that period.

This! Tottenham literally just signed a striker who could fix both offense and defense issues; he's an unpredictable force upfront, knows how to actually press and good in the air. As the season goes on people will realize that he's worth it.

To expand on your point about pulling defenders back, it is also gonna allow Son to get into his comfort spot right in front of the box, and everybody knows how dangerous that is. Porro has proven to strike it well too, and even Kulusevski will have more freedom to dance on the edge of the box to deliver crosses. He's gonna provide much needed space when he's not the target man. Solanke is the centre forward we needed, and I'm glad we signed him.

You kind of develop in a Spurs fan James 😉 What do you think Ange need to get his team ready for Champions League? In my opinion an left-footed CB and an Maddison back-up. We saw in the last season that these injuries make them fall out of the top 4. And the back-ups for the starter full-backs are a problem, especially after the transfer of Emerson Royal…you only have Reguilon and Spence at the moment… would love to here a kind of „transfer talk until winter“…

BIG IF Nico Williams had turned up at Hotspur Way, every Spurs fan would be applauding, and the media would be furious that spurs went out and bought genuine player with pedigree and form. Firstly talksport and Skysports news would be pitching the stepping stone headline and would already be speculating on the players next club from day 1. All season long Spurs fans will be crying that Maddison is stealing the ball from Son who should be coming in from the wing and shooting. Now Spurs have a right footed centre forward who moves...... often in the left sided channels, and a left fullback is loves to sprint down the line. Spurs are going to be short on the right channels, and overcrowded on the left/centre channels. Along with a defensive which still cannot handle set-pieces.

Classic British bias. He's massively massively overrated. Two things that totally undermine the first argument here- A) his team mate Ryan Christie. A player whose sole purpose is to get balls into the box or positions where solanke can attack. The spurs equivalent ? Where is the horse that leads the cart Jim? There is no such player to make a parallel. All of spurs wingers cut in. B) game state. Bournemouth weren't competitive. They weren't battling. Therefore, in the majority of their games, the majority of solankes goals were meaningless. The 4th goal in a 4- nil win Or a consolation to make it 3-1 defeat instead of 3 nil. He clearly thrives when the game is not in the balance. If you watch a lot of the premier league you know how much the standard, pace and therefore difficulty fluctuates depending on what's at stake and who the opponent is. Therefore these broad stats, when not accounting for these factors - ie Johnson, Maddison and now solanke- have badly been exposed as the big fishes in little ponds that they were. They can have a good game but a consistent dominance ? No. No way. This is what makes an absolute joke of solankes stats last season. No other striker got near his minutes or avg field postion in that area of the table. Compare his goal per minute to Wood or Neto and you see his a long way from the most prolific goal scorer. It's just that he had a season where he scored a lot of meaningless goals in a mod table team and hardly missed a minute. C) He's overrated. Two good seasons. One in the championship as a 26 year old. 65 million? Picked ahead of richarlison ? D) this was against Luton.

You go on to show him against Luton a team most teams smashed last season.. That is not a top 4 player. How many sides in the top 4 did he score against last season in his only season where he reached anywhere near that number of goals?

No offense to Bournemouth because I actually really like how Iraola has set them up but couldn’t you also just say that now Solanke is gonna be receiving service from players like Son Maddison and Kulusevski who are must better than Bournemouth midfielders and attackers

He played for bournemouth, you expect him to put 4 past the likes of City and arsenal? lol

@@thomaswiedner2524 If he was that good he would have put at least 1 in against a top 4 side. He had his first good season last season. Its a huge risk for the price. I hope I am wrong.. but we need a CF to turn up for the big games.. especially for that price.

@@thomaswiedner2524 what do you think of Brennan Johnson for over 50 million, just out of interest? We are still exposed without an out and out Defensive mid as well. No point having a quality back 4 without protection..especially with inverted wing backs... thats something else that needs immediate attention..

@@joebrown5016 not a huge fan of the signing, but johnson got signed for one purpose, and thats delivering balls in to the Box. And we signed solanke to be in there to actually convert them. You also gotta count the homegrown tax. Dont get me wrong, both were expensive af lol. Im confident solanke was a great signing tho, not so sure about johnson but hes still young

£65m is a bit much for a player in his mid 20's who only showed consistency of quality last season. He could be great but he could just as easily fail, complete coin flip and that's an expensive coin flip.

please dont even comment on football ever again. An entire season is not one game. You talk as if you know more than professionals who've spent their entire career profiling and analysing players.
