I dunno why there is such disrespect for him. He might actually be banging them in, yes, but his biggest value is going to be unlocking Son. Watch the vintage, cut in from the left for a curled worldie top bins next season, all because Solanke draws in defenders and free up that space. 65 is steep, yes, but he's not just adding 20 goals; he'll be allowing Son and Madders to add about 10 more apiece.

This would make sense under a different manager but not Ange. Ange plays his wingers wide, and I mean wi~~~~de. Wingbacks occupy the space Son used to thrive at and Son will hug the line, more like a traditional winger. That's how Ange plays his wingers.
@gravitypebant40222 ай бұрын
@@pazthepole2814 He's about at that age when the dribbling ability starts to degrade. But on the flip side, Sonny was used mainly on the counter under Conte, more like a shadow striker to Kane. It wasn't his job to break down the defense. He's not as good as he was when he was younger but he still got it. It was evident towards the final 10 games of last season when Madders couldn't create if his life depended on it and Son had to play the main creator for that period.

Classic British bias. He's massively massively overrated. Two things that totally undermine the first argument here- A) his team mate Ryan Christie. A player whose sole purpose is to get balls into the box or positions where solanke can attack. The spurs equivalent ? Where is the horse that leads the cart Jim? There is no such player to make a parallel. All of spurs wingers cut in. B) game state. Bournemouth weren't competitive. They weren't battling. Therefore, in the majority of their games, the majority of solankes goals were meaningless. The 4th goal in a 4- nil win Or a consolation to make it 3-1 defeat instead of 3 nil. He clearly thrives when the game is not in the balance. If you watch a lot of the premier league you know how much the standard, pace and therefore difficulty fluctuates depending on what's at stake and who the opponent is. Therefore these broad stats, when not accounting for these factors - ie Johnson, Maddison and now solanke- have badly been exposed as the big fishes in little ponds that they were. They can have a good game but a consistent dominance ? No. No way. This is what makes an absolute joke of solankes stats last season. No other striker got near his minutes or avg field postion in that area of the table. Compare his goal per minute to Wood or Neto and you see his a long way from the most prolific goal scorer. It's just that he had a season where he scored a lot of meaningless goals in a mod table team and hardly missed a minute. C) He's overrated. Two good seasons. One in the championship as a 26 year old. 65 million? Picked ahead of richarlison ? D) this was against Luton.
