My first solo trip was to NYC! unfortunately it took my grandma passing for me to finally have the courage to face my fear of flying long distances, and solo traveling. NYC was cool because in my Airb&b everyone that stayed in the 3 bedroom brownstone were solo travelers from Poland and Australia and we got along great! I haven’t looked back since!

There are so many people I have met on the road who started traveling because of difficult things they had experienced. But it’s amazing you got out there and had this awesome trip!

I'll be honest, I'm not a girl so things may be somehow easiest for me (unluckly...), but I decided to go on my first solo trip last month and it honestly was one of the best decision and experiences of my life. It was a short trip in London, so it was pretty close to my culture (Italian), but I still decided to have the "solo-travel" experience and forced myself into sleeping at hostels even though I could afford an hotel. Travelling alone really gives you some feelings which are hard to describe, it really "empowers" you and make you feel like the world is at the palm of your hand. It it weren't for covid and restrictions, I could have made the same decision you made years ago.

Been debating whether to go solo or find someone to go with, and I guess this answers my question. One thing I'm afraid of is people judging me for traveling solo and since I have little ones at home, they'll label me as selfish. of course I'm planning on having family trips but Ive always wanted to travel the world since I was a little girl. And I think I found my passion. But I also know my priorities. Any advice?

If you're doing a safari anywhere can be great. If you're solo driving and navigating, then South Africa will be the easiest, but make sure you're comfortable with the dangers before you go, as they do have a high crime rate. That said I love it so much there.
