Why Everyone Hates the Vegas Golden Knights

In this video I detail why the Vegas Golden Knights are becoming the biggest villains in the NHL. The franchise has found success immediately since their inaugural season just a few years ago and they have gotten better and better each season, even winning the Stanley Cup in 2023. Jack Eichel, Mark Stone, Adin Hill, and Ivan Barabashev are a few of the main pieces they traded for to help them win the Cup. And this year, they've added even more. They've also been using the LTIR loophole in a controversial way, similarly to how the Tampa Bay Lightning used it when they won their Cup in 2021.

Vegas is hated because they were gifted a good team. It was the first year of new draft rules and gm’s were caught with their pants down. Vegas got to pick from a long list of up and coming excellent players. On top of that the attained a number of picks for simply NOT picking players at the draft. It was the Bettman special. Introduce draft rules that ENSURE a successful team so they get fans. They didn’t have to draft well, they didn’t have to build a team, they didn’t have to through the painful years that every franchise goes through to win a cup. They were gifted a cup contending team. Maybe not with the right personnel off the hop but with excellent positioning between players, prospects and picks. They haven’t earned shit. It was given to them. That’s why the league hates them.

@@SylveonMujigae I’d go 50/50 on that. Some said they would be highly competitive right out the gates including myself. As a fan of a team that was terrible and trying to put it together, I watched up and coming players closely, players that we’re on the cusp of being excellent but on terminating contracts, being paid league minimums, etc. I also watched as Vegas got gifted all of these young talented players and handed tons of picks and prospects. In an instant, Vegas was put in a situation that was far better than my team and in far better shape than 90% of the league. Maybe the roster was cup contending at the time, but everyone new they would be competitive and more importantly, they were gifted a position of incredible strength. Haula, Bellemare, Theodore, Karlson, Perron, Neal, Marchesault, Carrier, nosek, thorburn, Riley smith, white cloud, Martinez, Tuch, Stephenson, to name few. Not to mention the had 10 additional picks in the next draft including 3 first rounders. Not on this list were so many prospect type players that could be used as trade bait but could also play. Sbisa, Methot, Engalland, McNabb, Hague. On top of that they got two legit goaltenders Berube, and Fucking Fleury. To say this isn’t gifted a position of incredible strength is just lying to yourself.

Thank you. Don't forget that when Seattle had their expansion draft, Vegas was exempt from making players available. Can anyone explain that? Blatant favoritism, plain and simple. They're Bettman's sweethearts.

I like the Golden Knights. They are relentless focused on winning the Stanley Cup. They practice professional sports at the highest level. Their management does what the league allows to build a winning team. However, continuing to trade away high draft picks eventually leads to long periods of mediocrity.

No it goes on beyond business - Mark Stone has broken his back to get them a cup, his life will never be the same again he will never have an 82 game full-time hockey career. They got their cup and he has a broken back. That's an example of what they're doing They didn't develop a team, they bought it. I hope they don't go back to back - I hope they tank and miss the playoffs for three seasons. Put them back at equal footing with the rest of the league

@@TheFoolintherainnAre you suggesting that Mark Stone broke his back SOLELY so that Vegas could win? Cause HOT DAMN is that dedication. How could you not want a guy so dedicated that HE WOULD INTENTIONALLY BREAK HIS BACK for a win to win?
@TheFoolintherainn
@TheFoolintherainn 2 ай бұрын
@@csharp48 Yeah I get where you're coming from on that - but there's a limit and a boundary. Especially when anything is involved with the spinal cord area I'm just going to talk into my microphone for 60 seconds - don't get mad at me. I don't do tiny keyboards: I don't use up athletes like that. I was the coach that walked around with the Red Stick so if you were out of form? hurting yourself? You had that red stick waved in your face, you were stopped in your tracks, and corrected. If we needed to pull you off the ice, out of the net (or out of the water as a swim skills coach) we check to see there weren't any knots and loosened up muscles to ensure you stayed in form. Before 3:00 and 4 day competitions for my elite swimmer, he went to a trainer to get adjusted every Friday morning before the weekend competition. I was trained on how to break up knots and lesions, keep an eye on his form - and I was also informed when to pull him out of the pool to stop him from hurting himself. The kid was a beast - you couldn't hold him back. He was hurting himself. These are human beings that need to live long after their Sports careers are done A broken back is very dangerous, that could easily paralyze him for life. But they've done with this with Mark Stone two seasons in a row. This is from last year: "Stone has been out of the lineup since Jan. 12, 2023 and underwent back surgery on Jan. 31, 2023 Due to the fact that Stone was placed on LTIR earlier this season, the roster move gave Vegas an additional $9.5 million in cap space. That extra cap room allowed the team to add players at the league's trade deadline in early March." And they're doing the same thing all over again - he's able to play, then suddenly he needs back surgery again? And suddenly It's Christmas morning in Vegas? By winter trade deadline, they got that extra $9.5 million to BUY talent developed by other coaches, franchises, not Vegas! They are not an NHL team. They are a fantasy hockey team. Plug in and Play. Matthew Tkachuck was playing with a broken sternum against Vegas - you may have heard the story his brother Brady recounted- he had to get Matt out of bed for game 4, because he couldn't move. And they benched Matt for game 5. He didn't play, remember? Yet he was able to start The following season and play but once again, Mark Stone was out- while Matts doctors took care of him, so he could play the regular season. They probably could have shot him up with all kinds of chemicals to get through that playoff series, and I'm glad they did not. This is dangerous stuff, you snap that spine the wrong way and you're not walking again - Elon Musk is going to put an implant in your brain so you can move your arms and legs again! Lol! I have spent time in a wheelchair and lost my ability to walk - maybe that's the difference here. I would never wish that upon anyone! Ever! I've worked with these young athletes, I've had them in my family. We don't want to break them. But this is outright greed, borderline cheating. They're starting to demand Vegas use outside doctors to get their opinions, for good reason You're not allowed to do this to a dog or racehorse for God's sake? We're all hoping they run out of money soon. Then you'll see what they're actually made of -they don't develop players, they buy them? let's see if they can buy more coaches like cassidy? Bruce Cassidy isn't known for developing AHL players. He was an AHL coach, yet he refused to play his prospects when he became the bench boss for Bruins. He screwed up the development system in Boston also. That might be the real reason he was booted. He left us with nothing Went from being an AHL coach to bench boss and he refused to play prospects - left the trade cupboards bare, because he refused to develop players when he went from Providence to Boston. So they certainly got the right coach to break these players... He doesn't give a fig about the future of a team? He's an ultra-competitive guy Yeah Patrice Bergeron played with a punctured lung, but he had another lung to use! Players break their jaws all the time, look at bedard's bubble helmet. They protect them. There's absolutely no way you can protect a hockey player getting checked into the boards, re-injuring a back that's had surgery on it TWICE in a year? Both times resulting in a 9.5 million cap relief right before winter trade deadline? TWICE?! Look what Montreal did to carey price - and he's got to live with that legacy for the rest of his life. He's not known for Stanley cups, he's always going to be known as the goalie who carried the Montreal canadiens to Stanley Cup finals, then went into rehab. Because the team broke him. That's my perspective. Don't break athletes. You do this amount of injury to a racehorse? And they shoot them. Or turn them into glue There's a difference between die hard and Die stupid Mark Stone has gone from being a hero to an idiot at this point. Everyone I know that's been a real hockey player, been around since the original six teams isn't having it. And neither is the nhl, they're bringing in outside doctors last I knew 🎤 Drop ✌️

@@csharp48 somebody's blocking my comments apparently cuz they don't agree with me. Anybody can censor anyone on here so I'm not going to come over here and I'm going to be blocking this content creator. I don't break young athletes. Mark Stone has done this twice in one calendar year. Matt Tkachuck was playing with a broken sternum and they were smart enough to pull him for game 5 . Then he comes back The following season and he can play for most of the season, Stone cannot? And then just buy coinkydink, he needs surgery again right after the holidays - and he'll probably be okay for playoffs? I'd say Matt is the tougher player, the bigger hero. But this comment isn't going to show up either because whoever the content creator is doesn't agree, can't handle the facts - and their petty little children who don't understand athletes This has nothing to do with hating a team, some of us have been athletes, we coach them - we're not couch potato sitting around staring at video screens pretending we know how to play hockey. This guy couldn't even lace them up. And that would not be due to a broken back or sternum Over and out

their draft was basically a silver spoon. All 4 lines consisted of 2nd liners or players they traded for draft picks and 1 all star goalie and 2 goalies that became walls when they were bad on other teams. Everything has worked out in their favor when some of their deals/pr moves should have ended in disaster. Now look at say the expansion draft for vancouver ottowa and buffalo. Choosing from fringe players and the scraps from other teams. Plenty of deals that blew up in their faces and just plain bad luck.

And, while not drafed by VGK, they've also helped finish the development of Shea Theodore, Braden McNabb, Howden, Kolesar, Carrier, Nic Roy, and Amadio into consisent NHL players. @@csharp48 okay thank you for that information. When Vegas first came out the first few years, they bought their team. So they bought the talent from other franchises to develop those players I'm totally biased - I'll put that out right now I don't like how the expansion works - being able to clip players from other teams like that. They should start in the ahl, and work their way up to at least having your own developed talent on a first year NHL team. Expansion is complicated, not an expert. But that's this old farts perspective on expansion. Because the original original 14 expansion brought talent in from the outside to expand the nhl. They couldn't steal it directly from other teams. I don't know what the solution is but I just don't like the system. Thanks

@@TheFoolintherainn why didn't Seattle didn't get the same deal? They paid even more than Vegas. Cause they certainly aren't 70s Capitals expansion team bad, but they aren't good. It would be a headache and a nightmare c) what happens to owners that own an NHL team AND an AHL team (and even an ECHL team) like the Vegas Golden Knights and the Henderson Silver Knights?

It’s a “hate us cause they ain’t us”situation in my opinion. I’m not a VGK fan I hate them and the fact their fans rub their shinny cup in less fortunate fanbases faces but you can’t ignore their success is the result of a completely different mentality that they have compared to everybody else. They are Agrresive at the deadline and ruthless during the off season. They will get stars at the deadline and dump franchise favorites in the offseason regardless of the fans or players feelings. If a player is no longer of quality or necessarily the best option they will punt you for cap space and picks. A team like the Wild have a heart felt breakup with Matt Dumba who has never been the same after a really bad injury and has fallen off as a player because it wasn’t the right thing to punt him. VGK would have sent him packing two years ago.

This is an inaccurate account of why they are hated. They are hated because they were gifted a position of incredible strength at their conception due to a change in the expansion draft rules. Basically, handed a good team with lots of cap room and picks to create a winning team. They earned nothing, they didn’t have to go through any of the pain of being a crap team and trying to build winner. This is why they are known as Bettmans babies. The new draft rules insured success for a draft team so the league could expand. $$$$$$$
