Absolutely right! Many of us don’t want to go back to our previous physical and mental states especially if we have had medical issues as well. Even amongst serious athletes, ie people who are e excising several hours a day, T2 diabetes is on the rise. Why is that - because they think they need high carb to fuel their training and they are eating themselves into insulin resistance. Even several hours of exercise a day isn’t sufficient to save them. If anything more folks are seeing the light not fewer.🥩🍗🍤🥓🥚🥦🥬🥑👍

I've never seen any You tube influencer to change their mind as often as DeLauer. Just give him a couple of months and he will do a complete 180. The problem for me sticking with Keto has nothing to do with Keto and everything to do with my addictions. Once I realize what I've done I refocus and go back. I think a lot of on and off people are addicts. Just truth, they can only be without their drug of choice for just so long. I admit that trying to break the addiction is a struggle for me, but I will beat it eventually. It's not restriction but addiction.

NerdyNana, I’m with you! Thomas sounds like me: addicted, and always looking for a way out. That’s why I stopped watching him. My struggle with carb addiction is hard enough without watching someone who flip flops make intellectual excuses for doing so. I’ve since gone to carnivore. While I am still challenged by carb addiction, I’m now facing it honestly. And carnivore is lessening the cravings while beginning to heal my joints.

Keto is not a stressor at all, in fact quite the opposite, for me at least.. keto has resolved all the digestive issues I used to have when I was on the standard Indian diet of grains/veggies/meat/fruit.. I used to struggle with my weight even though I exercised regularly.. after going keto it's easy for me to keep my weight where I like it.. I feel strong, full of energy and have no medical issues that are so common in people of my age bracket such as diabetes etc.. I am 69 and I've been on this way of eating for many years - over 20 years - and I am certainly not quitting - ever!

Its hard to imagine moving in and out of various ways of eating cause you want a muffin. Keto/carnivore is not a fringe approach. Its a much more species appropriate way of eating than grazing like a ruminant on all of these crazy fruits and veggies. After 1 and half year I am 180. I have cycled off a little around the holiday season and I have always gone to keto. I find more energy than carbing. I am leaner than I have been in decades. I definitely think and focus better ever. Now I can have some cake or pie after Thanksgiving dinner with absolutely zero regret. Thomas Delour, Dr berry and Berg got me to this point. Life is to be enjoyed, got learn how eat good and have pie once and while and not feeling guilty. Not pie every day! I am 62 and am in the best health in my life. I am proud to be keto, when friends ask how do lose all that weight? I proudly tell them and answer the questions.

Thomas is the king of twisting mechanistic studies to "prove" something. My last interaction with him and his content is when he said fructose doesn't cause people problems with blood sugars, which is technically true, but for the most part we didn't get to where we are as a country with metabolic syndrome without fructose, contributing to hyper-palatable foods.

Miraculously , I have had zero obstruction and remission of malabsorption in 8 weeks. I’m astonished by the turn around. I feel it’s possible my life could of went down a horrible road. A ketogenic diet absolutely has many benefits … too many to write here. I also had constant cold feet and hands with numbness. It’s going away. I’m guessing , I was anemic?!? Nonetheless, I feel warmer 😊 Another interesting fact , I had nerve pain in my head from a bout of shingles. I rarely now feel nerve pain in my head. Every week it’s better. Great video Doc.I also have been very successful on and off keto my entire adult life. However, I also recently quit keto for carnivore. Better results. Better health and I thought it was crazy when people were saying that plants are trying to kill you. It may not be that serious. But they don’t want to be eaten. That’s why they have those oxalates and other anti-nutrients. When people get off plants and go straight carnivore, they feel better. I don’t know one person that says carnivore didn’t work for them. Another reason I think people just quit eating regiments is they just don’t have the discipline to stay away from sugar and carbs. It takes long-term discipline to maintain that attitude.

My husband and I (in our 70's) went all in on Keto. Love all the fat, salt, eggs, butter. I workout my husband does not. My thigh muscles started to be so tight. Tried different exercises not until I started adding more carbs in the way of potato's,fruit, veggies and more meat than what Keto suggests. That has been the best move for me. Keto just like Adkins taught us not to fear fat, salt meat and other LIES we were told all our life. But everyone needs to listen to their bodies more than the experts. Men and women are different!!! Don't expect a change of eating for some will be right for you I also make my own breads, I find since using good organic flour my husband and I no longer have the inflammation, bloating we had from processed breads. We will NEVER go back to high carb PROCESSED foods. Doing Keto our way :)

I still enjoy keto. Some days it looks like carnivore, ketovore or just low carb. I like the tasty, fatty foods and my vegys. I like real food and occasionally make a dessert. Canada doesn't have a lot of packaged keto food. Tom ... too sciency and if you listen to too much of him, you won't know what to do because what is good becomes bad a month later.

In 2019, at the age of 64, I was very lean and had 6 pack abs, going to the gym and feeling great! I was addicted to watching health food and keto influencers. My choices were swayed by their influence. What I didnt understand at that time, was these influencers have to keep up with their content output. They can only remain influencers and maintain their income if they keep on putting out content. They can only repeat the same message for a limited period. Then they repeat, but with less effect. I'm certain that after a while, their message become monotone and dreary and the must feel pressure to then change course and deviate from their original message.

Personally, I have noticed many people quitting KETO. BUT for me I find it VERY sustainable. I normally stay at 20g or less total carbs as Dr Westman instructs, I only rarely have fruit. I do eat pecans some times and still keep my daily total to 20g or less total carbs. I enjoy beef, fish, chicken, pork, eggs and butter. I do not keep my trigger food in the house like cheese and nuts. When I eat them I only by a handful or a piece to eat for the day so I don't over eat them. I find keto very easy to eat out on. If i want a dessert during the holidays I use almond flour, oatfiber and/or bamboo fiber to make a small dessert. I still can stay around 20g total carbs per day. This is how I make KETO sustainable for the long run. But a lot of people in my circle say it is unsustainable. I disagree.

I was eating a strict keto diet for a year, which resolved a lot of issues and I lost 50lbs. But slowly my social life got me into introducing carbs again. And way too often I thought “well it’s just this one time”, but one time led to two and so on. Eventually my husband told me I had become a grouch and needed to stop eating carbs again. Without me noticing, my mood swings were back, getting shaky if I didn’t get food fast enough, my eczema slowly crept back, and I gained 20lbs, and a few other issues that came back. That relapse is not something I’ll do again, what a mistake…

My discovery of insulin & its relation to food healing real pains & dangerous issues after my child was diagnosed with Type 1 Discrete (2016). So even though my kiddo has experienced unbelievable healing by changing diet since 2017 and then the rest of us realizing what is good for HER pancreas is good for OURS (and everything else), I hear these other people and wonder what’s missing from the info (it’s impossible to know because of the complexity of the human body, genes, etc), so your response videos are incredibly helpful for us in our ongoing learning. I’ve been low carb and sometimes Keto for past 7 years. I now periodically move into Keto-carnivore and sometimes just carnivore depending on where I’m at. I will never go back to anything more than 20 total carbs per day except on special occasions. My personal experiences are aligned with yours and your videos have helped me through some new experiences that I didn’t know exactly how to handle on my own. When I’m full carnivore I do take a daily electrolyte supplement powder. I also started taking Magnesium Glycinate each night to prevent leg cramps and that provided me immediate relief. Thanks for all the knowledge and support!! Also, my personal doctor has supported me with low carb from day one. She monitored my inside health very closely for the first 3 years and eventually told me I had done such a great job that I was no longer diabetic and she was able to stop all meds I had started due to my weight and diabetes. It’s been 4 years off meds for me and my health is still where it was at 3 years and my doctor just keeps telling me to keep it up. I see her once per year now.

I think the two issues with Keto are (1) I want to go back and eat like I did before (I sorta did this with Atkins a couple of decades ago) or (2) I want to eat Keto & incorporate 'foods' that I use to eat in some "Keto" form, which is problematic plus a lot of Keto foods are just another version of processed carbage. There is also transitioning from 3 meals a day plus snacks to re-orienting to eating when you are actually hungry which is not entirely easy due to our habits, but when you up the fat, you tend to not be as hungry though doesn't work for everyone.

❤ O my goodness I love this so much. Just a few days ago after a loooot of medical test I finally got my diagnosis. I have Inappropriate sinus tachycardia. Haven't heard of it? Neither have I but it is a thing😂. Anyway to keep a long story short my heart doctor worked really hard to find out what was wrong and how she could help. She put me on medication but she explained it will never be a total fix. In this process she helped check off most of what I needed to do for my health except I am overweight. In a gentle way she said that is the next thing I have to work on to keep my heart healthy. I told her I will try. I went to church and I told them the good news and a good friend of mine suggested I got keto like he did. I told him I tried to go keto but I was having a really hard time letting go of the carbs but this time I had a feeling that keto would help me now. He said "I would tell you how I do keto but with your health issues you really need to figure this out on your own and see what works best for you". He said keep it simple and use an app to keep track of your macros. I did just that and I feel soo good. I found a way that worked for me and I lost 3 lbs in a week and a half. I learned that the more fats I ate the less I craved carbs. It's so weird lol. I still eat a little carbs but I said to my husband I can live like this. Meaning I am doing it in a way that fits for me and my health issues. I owe my friend a big thanks for encouraging me to find my own way. I love all your videos because it just helps me to understand a little bit more on how our body works and how nutrition works. I love what I am doing now even when I feel sick and tired because my heart is racing 150 beats per minute. Ever since I got on my new meds and started keto I feel like I am able to breathe, rest and relax and that is priceless. I can sleep now.Thank you for posting this video.

I started on a keto diet before even hearing the term "Keto". My diabetic specialist saw my slightly higher blood sugar score and said to himself, "perhaps your pancreas is shutting down. I had not heard that the possibility existed. Driving home I reflected on blood sugar being something that I bought and then put in my mouth. I was immediately on keto. I just stopped eating carbs. Later I came across Dr. Westman and his clinic and Dr. Tim Noakes and became more informed about the whole affair. Now my A1C is 5.2 to 5.5 and I weigh 80 pounds less. I regard a keto diet as an essential to good health and will never quit it despite having occasional sugar treats, I never buy sugar or honey or anything made of wheat.

Absolutely spot on Dr Westman. The need for a lifestyle intervention to reverse metabolic syndrome disorders is probably a 1000 times more than those who want to optimise physical fitness alone. But here’s the kicker, a full blown Type 2 Diabetic who reverses the condition on a Low Carb lifestyle will most likely be healthier and have more vitality and endurance than a “healthy” person on a conventional “well balanced” diet AND also less likely to develop cancer and dementia as they age. The “secret” is to adopt the lifestyle that is sustainable for life, which has been demonstrated and is very much doable. We are indebted to your dedication to supporting the metabolically ill, Dr Westman.
