I grew up on the East Coast where patty melts are made with caramelized onion, Swiss cheese and patty on toasted rye bread. Try it sometime. It’s wonderful- especially if you can get rye bread with caraway seeds!

Well, I think @AWE did some of it the hard way. Just buy the Patty Melt sauce from WB, it's only $3.25 (or so) from HEB. Then, burger comes together 10 times quicker.

Looks incredible. But, just a suggestion, buy the Patty Melt sauce from Whataburger, and your burger is put-together in no time. That's what we do. However, thank you for showing how to copy-cat recipes. We are cooking at home now, especially after Covid. Restaurant prices are TOO HIGH. So, maybe, make Whataburger's new burger -- the bacon steakhouse double. I think the sauce is half WB's patty melt sauce and half WB's Honey BBQ. Or, that's where we are gonna start, because we love that burger so damned much. But, at $9.99 each, too rich for our blood.

Should have cooked the bacon, first. Then you can add your butter and oil if you want to sauté the onions, add that bacon grease to the onion flavors.

First time I seen a big mistake. Sandwich you sliced is not the same one you showed at the end. You only added two patties to first sandwich. I used to be an instructor, pay attention to those type of things......when people want to learn from you the first thing they notice is mistakes. But, food looks great!
