This was simply one of the best mini-documentaries on F1. perfectly capturing all that Danny Ric stood for and brought to the paddock. Anyone getting into the sport in the future might not understand his legacy after looking at his numbers, but this video reveals all we love about the man. If by some chance Danny ever sees this video and reads these comments, Thank you for making F1 as entertaining as it has been over the years. As a Perthite I can say we’re all proud of what Danny-Ric has achieved and how he’s gone about it, you can take the boy out of Perth but you can’t take Perth out of the boy! So many great memories, but one that sticks with me is him sitting in his team garage on a dodgy folding chair in his scarf and beanie watching his beloved Aussie rules footy team in the Grand Final, he wore his heart on his sleeve and he kept it real, he is a lovely bloke. RB went from sacking their driver in the top seat when they underperform to keeping him for 2 wasted seasons, and causing more problems for the junior team. They clearly got 2 better drivers in their arsenal in Tsunoda and Ricciardo. Tsunoda was performing well, and later Ricciardo since Canada. They kept Perez for so long that they risk loosing Lawson in the process, and this is the result. Shameful behavior from RB. No wonder most of their senior personnel left or are leaving

I've been a crazy Ricciardo fan since he first joined HRT. And yeah even I recognised that his time was done. But how it was done is what gutted me. Going into your final race without knowing whether he would have a seat at RB must have sucked. I'm glad they let him go for the fastest lap though. But for me it's not having that closure. Initially I was a Michael Schumacher fan and when he was leaving I knew and had time to grieve it. The same with Mark Webber, but with Dan it was just an X announcement. And it feels wrong. Thank you Daniel for the spectacular overtakes the amazing drives and the laughs. I will sorely miss you.

It's incredible that 4 races ago, Ricciardo was tipped to join Red Bull, and now he is leaving F1 altogether. Like going from being a billionaire to being a beggar in the span of a few days. Without any bias, I am 80% convinced that Danny would have done a better job overall than Checo in the last 10 races. It does kind of seem that he is much more consistent when the car is also at least semi-competitive. Danny will be missed.

If I say I was in denial, it would be an understatement, for one side I'm glad for the Kiwi Lawson, the kid deserves a chance but on the other hand I'm sad for Danny, despite the results this season, he has been more constant in the VCARB tractor than some other drivers in objectively better cars, also there's the matter of strategies, the one time the team actually favored him on strategy, he ended P4 in a Sprint race, which says a lot about the nature of Ricciardo's results this season

This video gives me a theory in that just like how Vettel was never as good when the blown diffuser was taken away, Ricciardo can't drive the ground effect car as well as the previous generation. It's a shame, but I'm guessing that Red Bull is going to put Liam Lawson in the RB seat to see if he can replace Sergio Perez next year. If yes, then Lawson goes to Red Bull and Issac Hadjar goes to RB next year. If Lawson is a complete bomb, he's fired and replaced by Hadjar. If he's mid, then I have no clue what'll happen.

He used to be great, real promise. I think his downfall was when it turned into a reality tv show for him, instead of just racing. Never really thought he was part of the elite, great seasons in 2014 and 2016... but he didn't have the killer mentality that I saw of the true greats. Raikkonen, Hamilton, even Vettel was a huge prick when he was young would've mowed down any teammate they had, Daniel though seemed like he always wanted to be good mates, vs be their worst enemy. Great personality but that's not a champion at this level. Daniel felt more like talent carried him rather than him being obsessed with winning. Great career, but he rubbed me the wrong way towards the end.

I wished that Daniel Ricciardo could have stayed to the end of the season and have a better send off. At least the media picked up what was about to happen and made the best of it for Daniel at Singapore. It was clear to me after the race at Singapore that Daniel was more than fine with retiring from F1, even if it was forced onto him. Daniel has indicated that he was keen to have a family but the F1 schedule didn’t allow for it. The F1 schedule is even more busy now when he made the comment. Daniel has been dating Heidi Berger (daughter of former F1 driver Gerhard Berger) for a while now, so I expect Daniel’s next adventure will allow him more free time for a family. Based on all accounts of the pranks that Gerhard got up to in F1, Daniel and Gerhard have been cast from the same casting mould. Due to NASCAR schedule, it will be too busy for his liking. The way the paddock and fans rallied around the unexpected (arguable) situation was impressive, i think the start of the driver of the day tallies made even the clueless wize up. which makes RB behaviour all the more disgraceful.
