Firefox (and the Gecko rendering engine) is actually the only real alternative to Chrome these days. Because while you do have a few alternatives in Edge, Brave, Opera and Safari they are all using the same rendering engine (Blink) as Chrome under the hood. For that reason Firefox is more important than ever. (Technically Safari is using a different rendering engine, WebKit, but that essentially an old version of Blink.)

Containers don't do THAT much. Unless you run them as isolated profiles alltogether. What counts is baton passing (fingerprinting). Firefox sucks at that. What you really need is browser isolation. Firefox is a privacy nightmare. The settings you check in the menu to ensure said privacy don't actually do what they're supposed to. Take fingerprinting for example even if you check strict tracking protection on the desktop version go to about:config and look for privacy.resistfingerprint it will be set to false...soooooo......... As of 8/27/20 they have eliminated the about:config for the mobile version which basically eliminates privacy and being non monetized. Other privacy issues such as indicating in the settings you don't want autocomplete/search suggestions as you type is ignored (turn it off and try typing amaz it will auto complete to amazon.com), the push for you to add everything to top sites or home page and to sync your tabs all while burying addons under several layers of menus. And it's ugly. They've turned private browsing to the same purple as TOR to try to mislead users into associating it with TOR, among a whole host of other d!@k moves. Make no mistake they are out to monetize you, your privacy is the last thing on their list.

What a gold-mine of an audio, thanks! I can't find the HTTPS everywhere add on you use, does it have a different name now?

No thanks, I don't need a browser that crashes every 5 mins.

Personally, I don't bother with deleting history/cookies because it also disconnects me from several websites I use on a regular basis. For example, every time I close my browser and re-open it to check my Gmail account, I have to open my password manager, put in the credentials of said account, go and grab my phone, input the SMS code I just received (2-step verification), and then I can log in. I have to do this through different websites, every time history/cookies are deleted. I'm used to closing my browser on a regular basis (because sometimes I'm gaming and I want minimal stuff in the background hogging resources) and this can become a veritable pain in the rear to do all the time. So if you're like me, leave these two options alone unless you're in an unsafe location or need to share your device with someone else.

I'm a little older then most of your viewers. Is it possible for me to try and follow along in the program you are explain? I can't write quick enough to keep up. Thanks for your work.

Switched to Firefox a few years back from IE and have been happy with it ever since. Tried google chrome but was dogged by ads. Still running win 7 but will be on 10 soon.

Just found you channel, very informative videos, thanks a lot. What is your opinion on MS Edge? It's chromium based but from what I've heard is much better option than Chrome and Microsoft have locket it down a lot.. Interested in your opinion as just setting up my new Macbook and want it secure from the start.

I followed to the end. One question, setting up Gmail. Do you put it in a container too? Also, how do you set Firefox to use Google maps?

Hi Sun, thanks for the very helpful video. What about other browsers like Opera, Brave, Edge?

What about AdGuard extension? Would you recommend using it?
@frozenturbo86233 жыл бұрын
Really good, requires little better computer than ublock origin, also blocks bad sites

Thanks for this awesome video :) All the extensions you suggested require "access your data for all websites" permission, and I'm a bit confused by the Firefox support page on this. Does this mean that they can access passwords that I enter into webpages?

Hello, well what do you think about Safari? Especially now they have tracker blocking too and add lots of privacy features. Is Firefox still better?
@roberthardy51714 жыл бұрын
and excuse me but do you make any other containers or only for Facebook?
@sunknudsen4 жыл бұрын
Safari is OK, but less extensible and not open source. I use containers for Amazon, Google and LinkedIn. I actually don't use Facebook, but would recommend using one container per social media platform.

This was pretty cool! I"m excited to use Firefox, but using it has been making the fans turn on, so I'm investigating. I feel much better, though.

Interesting Daniel... I had similar issues on a MacBook Air when watching KZbin in 4K. Safari might be more optimized for certain websites... but Firefox is the way to go for privacy.

Thanks for the clear instructions and communications, I just installed firefox but the container option does not look the same, even when I follow your instructions it's not the same.

Hey Derrick, I see the look of the "Firefox Multi-Account Containers" browser extension has changed. Here's a link to the extension I recommended. addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/multi-account-containers/
