I use a vpn so I don't start recognizing the same groups of vehicles following me around in various cities. Whether they be the feds or some kind of neighborhood watch i don't know. I know one time my phone was stolen while unlocked and a group called c.r.a.s.h. followed me while harassing me for 36hrs. Using vpn stops someone from tracking your physical location.

Could you tell me how much they cost? I can't find it except on Amazon in a bundle with various types and sizes, but it's almost 30 bucks. That's too much. I'm in EU

I only use a VPN when needed...watching geo-locked streaming services while abroad. That's the only reason why I have a VPN. Other than that, it stays turned off until I need it.

You cannot clear 'EverCookies' or persistent cookies unless you use special software. I used to use specialized vpns like VPNGATE, ADVOR, OpenVPN, Proton VPN made by the people over at plus there are many free vpns made by different universities around the world Etc. But that was over 10 years ago when people didn't really know what vpns were all about

How can I start?

I had been paying for a VPN for a while but just got fed up with the prices and I felt like I could no longer trust any of these big companies. So I just said screw it, Ima build my own, and that's exactly what I did. The process was moderately difficult just because I had never done it before. I used Raspberry Pi 5 8GB with Wire Guard as the VPN and I also installed Pi-hole so I no have malware, ads, trackers, telemetry data collectors, phishing, or crypto jacking scripts network wide. I also can access my home network from literally anywhere in the world. And because of the fact its on MY network, all my ISP sees is just encrypted traffic. It even reduced strain on my network from 15-25%! Everything I've named commercial VPNs either can't do well or at all. Still my favorite Pi project I've ever done.

Also I have a question regarding Torrents, I used to use Torrents a long time ago and am interested in using again but a lot has changed and I'm not entirely sure what is on my old drives. Is there a way to discover hidden packets or payloads to open backdoors on those drives? Or to monitor and track them to a destination?

Ive personally used a vpn for a long time now, but ive recently quit using vpns. I get that if in some situations, it is sometimes better to use a vpn for safety, but the thing is id rather have my own safety in my own hands, rather then be in a big company's hand

The only reason I would use a VPN would be to watch shows or movies that are not available in Canada.

I have three 2015 Macbook Pro 15's. AMAZING machines still. two i used open core patcher to have them run Sequoia flawlessly and the 3rd I run baremetal linux. ALL work perfectly and Linux on them is so insanely good. Not just saying it. Put a samsung 990 Pro SSD in the linux machine. Im getting 2000+ mb/s read/writes on it. Got one for my niece in high school. running sequoia as well. She loves it. Fully integrated with iphone with all the latest security patches and fixes

TLDR please

You should use VPN, you just need to change the way you think about it. Host your own VPN, make sure it doesn't leak any DNS and have your phone always connect to it instead. You control the dns and ip tables. That does so much more for your privacy, because frankly, with all this fingerprinting/tracking who cares if they know your home IP. Advertisers will cross reference it to you through so much more than that. And DNS over https is a double edged sword if you're taking the self host your own VPN route, I don't want DoH to do stuff behind my back. Sure, thats not for everyone. But to say that you shouldn't ever use a VPN because privacy is unobtainable is nonsense, you can work your way one step at a time. Now I'm not saying that Zero Trust is the way, but theres some good block lists out there for your firewall/router that will cover you a great deal.

I’ve research so many VPN companies. They all seem to have CEO with links to Intel (based on their LinkedIn profiles). So yes, I agree they are Honey Pots. I was leaning towards Proton VPN, but now the lack of credit card 💳 input for Mulvad has me enticed. What do you think of ProtonVPN?
