The final point about speaking in phrases is just as significant, since speaking in phrases/word groups is the best practice for developing an ability to understand native speed spoken English. I have a group of students who have been with me for 5+ years who love shadowing style practices with an emphasis on grouping words. By practicing natural tempo and after three practices on a chosen text with me modeling (first for pronunciation, then shadowing while reading, finally shadowing without reading) they then must model for a class mate to shadow twice, repeating the final two stages of shadowing. It places an obligation to produce the language in an manner accurate enough for their partner to follow. I follow it up with elaboration (as you do with “heat up” and “cool down”) then several free conversation questions, (on your topic, it would be about holiday related sales or seasonal sales) after which I give the original dialog again but with some changes, such as the previously stated alternative phrases, at natural speed. The students love it. For a group of false beginner/low intermediate adult students moving into intermediate/high intermediate levels i feel this helps their listening comprehension as much as their ability to speak naturally, And my students have repeatedly requested more of these type of lessons. Edited for clarity.

I can't believe that your mother in law doesn’t take advantage more than that, from having the number one English fluency guide, just next to her! 😉 Fortunately it’s not me, cause I won't let you breathe for a minute. Hahaha ! 🤗😍

As I know, warm up and heat up are phrasal verbs with absolutely different meanings. "Warm up" has a positive meaning, like "warm up the relationship". But " heat up" is rather negative, like "heat up the war or conflict".

Hey again drew! You absolutely posted an amazing experience about an eccentric mother in law you have . By the way she is learning a lot from you indirectly! Sure enough she's so reserved just like British people! On top of that hope that Japanese do not always smile as Americans do! Truth be told that I love your terrific channel to the moon and back! Keep it up you are absolutely doing great service to English learners! You are really making the world go round! You really mean everything to me! 🇸🇴♥️🇺🇸🇯🇵🍎

Hi Drew! Very helpful video! One question, I hope this helps to more people too: I'm using ankidroid (card system) to learn English vocabulary. Would you recommend me using cards that look like: phone - device used for making calls Instead of something like: Phone - telefono in order not to translate, or there is nothing wrong with using the Spanish translation for this purpose? Thanks a lot!

Adrian Bustamante My point of view : if it's absolutely necessary use an English Spanish dictionary. Another option is maybe the Oxford Picture Dictionary.

I noticed that Americans talk about preposition "up" and "off" because to some extent it makes sense, but never about "out" (check out, try out, speak out ...), maybe because this is nonsense?

WTF? Do you really expect a beginner to think like a native? Secondly, don't confuse language acquisition (children) and language learning (adults). Your first language will interfere with what you are learning for a long, long time.
