It should be a FULL reboot with an entire new cast. I know there are some fan favorite characters played by fantastic actors but you can’t pick and choose who you want to stay and who you want to leave. Yh I agree- Gunn should've done a clean slate and recast everyone. Nothing confirmed by him so I'm not gonna believe these rumours just yet as these interviews are older (before Corenswet was cast) so things could hopefully change Him keeping Viola Davis, John Cena and the rest of the Peacemaker cast could work as well as maybe Margot Robbie HQ but he has to recast the Justice League, Shazam, Black Adam, Birds of Prey etc I liked a lot of actors but to avoid confusion, enable a fresh start and get general audiences back to loving DC- a full reboot is needed. And I hope Gunn debunks that Wonder Woman 3 rumour (after the strike) and commits to a full reboot or at least keep only Peacemaker canon

I agree having one of the most recognizable faces of the DCEU (Wonder Woman) transfer over to the DCU, even if she's technically a different version, could be confuisng for the general audience. I would hope by then, there would be some exposition or narrative leading up to Wonder Woman's big screen return, that somehow explains in a monologue esque way without being too on the nose, how heroes can look the same from universe to universe but be different at the same time.

Keep Gal Gadot ! Full stop period . Gal is Wonder Woman - her portrayal is perfect . The Themyscira is immune to time manipulation- which is cannon . The magical shield protects the island , and time moves differently within. Wonder Woman has a much longer lifespan anyhow . Once she leaves the island, her costume can change , it would be fun to see her reaction to the “ new outside world” Simple easy done ✔️. Don’t over think it Boba . It’s a fun twist and gives a wink and a nod to the old history - and for me, in that way it eliminates some of the confusion regarding the old DCEU . Everybody WINS .

I like her in the role. I didn't think WW84 was as bad as people made it out to be, but I think she deserves another chance. I think your idea of making it an elseworlds story is a good idea with the end finding a way for her to enter the new DC movie verse, or letting the third movie be her send off. I'm starting to think that James Gunn is just indulging her though. However, I also don't think he knows what to do with her. If the third movie actually happens, and they actually make Paradise Lost, that just sounds like he's using Patty Jenkins playbook. That Paradise Lost show doesn't sound as appealing. If Marvel kept Hemsworth as Thor after Thor 2's failure then I don't see the issue with giving Gal another chance as Wonder Woman when the first film was very successful for the DCEU. I agree with you Boba - I personally like Gal as Wonder Woman, specifically in that first WW, though she was also horrible in WW84. Overall, I still have no issue with her staying, but like you said, it's confusing. Better to start a clean slate with the new trinity, especially since DC has taken loss after loss after loss. If she stays, that muddies it big time for the general public. Show the public this is different with a different new trinity, not 2/3 of a trinity. I like Gunn a lot as writer/ director, but as a co-head, not his brightest moment (if true)

i think the core issue is cavill fans being bitter that superman got recasted and not wonder woman. When the universe was reset, they could kind of cope by believing that everyone would be recast. When James Gunn said that he would keep some characters like Peacemaker, they could cope by believing just the main justice league would be recast. Now that even Wonder Woman is staying on, they have no other way to cope except to accept that Henry Cavill was not and is not the Superman for James Gunn's universe. Frankly speaking, Gal was great as Wonder Woman. Henry was never great as Superman in the traditonal comic book sense. I have seen the argument that he could have been, but there is simply no evidence for that.

Yeah, I’m not a fan of this decision. I trust that James Gunn is going to give movie goers a well made film and I’m happy that Gal gets to keep a role she likes, however I’m almost 100% certain this decision is going to confuse a majority of viewers. Aesthetically speaking, I think it’s weird that going forward we could see the same Wonder Woman from 2016 next to a new Superman and Batman. Although I understand what James is doing and that this version of Diana isn’t the same version from Snyder’s DCEU I still believe a hard reboot, with entirely new actors would’ve made things a lot simpler. Im still excited for Gunn’s vision of the DC Universe nonetheless. Hoping the best for the future and this movie

I believe that they are going to play off the events of "The Flash." They need to explain, somehow vaguely, in "Superman Legacy" that the events of "The Flash" have seriously messed with time and there is new and familiar faces. I believe there is a reason kid looks so much like Cavill. I don't TRULY believe Cavill is done. He's just not the "current" Superman. In "The Flash" post credits, Barry says something about multiple Batmen to Aquaman. says something bout each of them were different, but you were the same. I think he's referring to more than Keaton and Batfleck. he didn't say both, he said each. It seemed pointless at the time, but this scene just may pay off... It could also be a very strong possibility that Gunn can't comment on it because of the Writers & Actors strike (and was rolling his eyes really hard when he heard what Gal said). But I Donn't know. I would prefer a new actress. Give us a clean slate as best as possible. It may looks messy right now but we don't know the full picture. As CEO, Gunn couldn't & can't just sink the 4 leftover movies from the DCEU by saying they won't matter in public because that would harm their box office significantly. They wouldn't even be worth putting out if he had stated something like that. The many people who worked very hard on this movie deserve their work being put out, cherished & hopefully make some money. So, after losing Henry and Ben the possibility of keeping her would be acceptable. The reason I feel that it won’t be so confusing is that we’ve had a couple instances over the past few years that show us that audiences are smarter than we think. For example, Charlie Cox as Daredevil. Charlie Cox played Daredevil in the Marvel Netflix show, which was cancelled after three seasons. A few years later, Charlie Cox appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home and people weren’t confused. In fact, most people cheered when he came on the screen. Another example, The Batman. When The Batman came out, you would think that people would be confused that Batman wasn’t played by Ben Affleck when Ben Affleck had played Batman in previous movies. But there was no confusion and the movie made over $700 million. If Gal Gadot were to stay on as Wonder Woman in the DCU, would there be some confusion? Probably. But it’ll probably only be briefly and the audience will roll with it. I also think that if Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman look is different enough from the previous DCEU version of Wonder Woman, audiences could find her being Wonder Woman to be less jarring.

Those are literally not the same situations as this though. This would be an actress playing a character who has had a prominent recurring role in the DCEU appearing as the same character with different fellow cast members. The Batman was clearly in a separate universe from the DCEU and whether or not audiences recognized Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock is unimportant to the actual understanding of the plot of the movie other than a nice cameo.

I really don't get the people who are adamantly against Gal staying on as WW, or rather, becoming the DCU's *new* WW. Say what you will about The Flash, but Keaton's spaghetti metaphor for the Multiverse makes more sense than any explanation other comic films have given us. Wonder Woman's appearance could easily be explained as one of those "intersecting strands" across the whole DC multiverse, a "nexus being" of sorts. She is a demigod, afterall. I mean, honestly, from the perspective of looks alone, Gal is a hard actress to top for Wonder Woman. She is the spittint image of so many comic versions of the character. Her acting skills seem to depend entirely on the script. WW 1 was great, WW 1984 sucked, and Patty's plans for WW 3 didn't seem to be exciting anyone, so, they canned plans for Patty's last movie, but I think Gunn realizes that Gal is one of those castings that is just a bit *too* perfect for the character. I don't think it will be the DCEU Wonder Woman at all. Gunn's take will be way more of a Warrior Princess, and really lean more heavily into that. The DCEU/P Jenkins WW was much more bubbly and optimistic. I think we're going to have a much more intense and world-weary Wonder Woman, and Gal's take on DCU WW will easily separate itself from the earlier DCEU version, especially considering the way the character will be written going forward. Another thing is, with Superman being a relatively "new" hero in the new DCU, we could have a Wonder Woman who has obviously been around alot longer. I think it's easy enough to imagine Gal and Gunn coming up with a familiar, but *totally* fresh take on the character. Sure, she'll look like the Diana we know, but her characterization will be very different. Combine that with the *totally* different type of world the DCU will inhabit, and I think it will be more than enough to seriously differentiate the two versions of the character. I mean, hell, the comics have been doing this kind of thing for literal decades. If Gal is the DCU Wonder Woman going forward, it's easy enough to think of it in the same way as a new WW comic run coming out, where a new writer comes in to shake things up, but keeps the previous character artist. So it's a totally new take, but with a similarly iconic look for the character. I wouldn't mind seeing a different actress as Wonder Woman, but I mean, really, Gal is way too perfect for that role, and other than the first Wonder Woman (and parts of the Snyder Cut), she really hasn't been utilized in the most memorable of ways. As Boba said, she's basically just been "Cameo Woman" for the last several years, and l don't think we've ever really gotten a definitive version of her character. The lens of a new writer and director will make a vast difference, even with the same actress, and especially in a new and different universe.

So, in my opinion the Flash movie did a great job at soft rebooting the franchise. I think the best way to explain it is to basically say the DCEU was a different Earth compared to the DCU’s New Earth. They can have Mister Terrific call it a number at later date. It doesn’t matter. The way I see it is that Ezra Miller’s Barry seeing George Clooney as Bruce allows them to move away from Ezra if they want. They can use Wally West if they want or simply recast. Though I think the best thing that they can do is basically have the main characters of the DCU be around 10 years old. Basically they pull a New 52. Reboot somethings and rework other things. Batman has been around for 10 years, during that time he has gone through all the robins and batgirls and meets Damian Wayne during the Brave and the Bold. Batman is like 36-38 Superman is like 30. Which is a good age range for them. You can buy them being friends but still having their differences with that, though I like them to be closer in age. I’m okay with Gal Gadot being Wonder Woman, though honestly I feel like anything from Snyder needs to be reshuffled. Jason Momoa would be the perfect Lobo in the DCU and would be perfect to be introduced in Superman Legacy as a side villain and then have him pop up in the Green Lantern series before getting his film. Other people could pull off Wonder Woman just as good as Gal Gadot. If Henry Cavill can be replaced as Superman than anyone can be replaced.

All the reasons for recasting Wonder Woman all make sense to me, and it seems odd to keep Gadot on BUT… she is charming AF and makes a great Wonder Woman. In the first WW she was at Christopher Reeve levels, so much did she embody that wholesome charm. WW2 was poor, but that wasn't her fault. So, I can see why they’d want to give Gadot a third film. I don’t know how they’d explain it, though some of the other comments below have some decent ideas. Its 50/50 I’d say but I hope they can make it work and we see her back.

The Flash failed horribly big part being Ezra but bigger part people wanting to move on from the dceu keeping her is just gonna piss some off and confuse and have people not go due to wanting to move on from the past dceu especially since she got a damn sequel and solo film and LOADS of cameos as that dceu character that people associate her with. First of all, I don’t think this happens, as in: Gal is the de facto Diana Prince of the DCU. And I don’t think it’s an Elseworld, because they could’ve kept Patty Jenkins on if that were the case. What I’D do would be to cast Gal as Hippolyta, and a new actor as Diana.

I really love Gal Gadot she's amazing as Wonder Woman and it would be sad to see her go but I think it's best to start fresh with new actors for the big characters Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman you can keep Shazam, Martian Manhunter, James Gunns Crew from SS and Peacemaker, etc. With how confused people are about Blue Beetle I'm not sure the non fanboys/girls/others who don't keep up on news will understand what's going on when they see old big characters, even though everyone who keeps up knows that it's a Soft Reboot

If she is Wonder Woman, I feel like it would be a huge mistake. At this point I just want a fresh start for it all. New Batman, new Superman, new WW, new Flash, new Cyborg etc etc. No disrespect to Gadot, I just think the main JL characters all need to be new and fresh, otherwise it'll just cause unnecessary and easily-avoidable confusion. Even if it was an elseworld story, it just wouldnt work for me. Matt Reeves' Batman works because its SO different, and so clearly its own thing, and Batman is a diverse character who's had God knows how many different tones and styles over the years. I feel like they should have just done a full reboot. I mean if wonder woman gets a third movie in this universe it will cause problems. Nothing against gal but it's just gonna cause many issues 1. some audience might get confused 2. fans will get annoyed with the fact some actors get to return yet their favourites got recast 3. its unfair to the actors since they would be put in the middle of fan backlash 4 . kinda feels like they have favourites since many projects got cancelled yet wonder woman might get a trilogy like man of steel 2 and Ben Affleck's batman got scrapped yet going ahead with wonder woman 3 The suicide squad was semi reboot but worked with the established lore of the previous universe and peace maker was able to work since it followed the events of the suicide squad both projects were good but I can't see how they could continue with a different universe with different events Again just my opinion but am interested to see how they could work gal in the new universe Tho if she is continuing the same wonder woman from the previous universe then I feel like they should just scrap the shared cinematic universe and just do else worlds since it feels less confusing.

People are over analyzing this. Gal's Wonder Woman made 252 million on a budget about 70 million less than Cavill's MOS which made only 42 million. The poorest performing DCEU film up to Aquaman with the exception of JL. And Aquaman made 260 million on a budget similar to WW. This is about money and bringing the most popular/profitable DCEU actors into the DCU is a good business decision. The Cavill factor is overstated. He has a hard core fanbase but, with general audiences, is not near as popular as Gadot. If Cavill had been a great Superman WOM would have caused MOS to do well but instead it had a larger than normal falloff after its first weekend. Audiences mostly won't think twice about Gal being back other than to applaud it. If she is back and assuming this is a DCU film, I think Gunn will change the Phase 1 schedule and launch the DCU with Wonder Woman and not Superman Legacy. Wonder Woman is the best bet to deliver the home run Gunn and Zaslav need in the first DCU film. If that film is not a home run the 10-year plan collapses and Gunn as well as Zaslav may be out of jobs. As it is Brave and Bold should have been scheduled before SL for the same reason - though B&B with a new Batman actor is not as sure a bet to do gangbusters as is Wonder Woman with Gal.

This has me really thinking about Shazam, the first film was critically and generally liked. However, the film failed financially and the sequel took a dip. I like Gal Gadot’s performance as Wonder Woman and wanted her, Shazam, Peacemaker, and Amanda Waller to stay. I just hope all that worked stays. I have faith in James when it comes to stories, but I’m worried about not seeing some of the amazing characters for another 15 years

I have no problem with Gal being kept on as Wonder woman Because an actor can only do So much with what they're given when making a movie Be it with the script or the director Henry Cavill not being kept on as Superman I was disappointed in that because you wouldn't have to do much to de-age him to make him look younger But i also understand Wanting to have the Same actors that can play The rolls for quite a number of years because you're trying to build A universe that is going to be consistent and connected Just like with having To get a younger Batman to be around For a while so Yes i think Gal can still play the Roll and help accomplish that

I am also hoping that Paradise Lost will introduce Circe as a villain, and will be Wonder Woman's main villain in the new WW movie. Circe is one of her main antagonists.

I think what jeans gun is trying to do is something similar to Avengers endgame where a different version of Gamora (2014) had arrived to the future to help earth's mightest heroes and had reunited with her fellow guardians after nebula had explained everything to her. So they will probably have it where they can do the same thing during DC's rebirth initiative and have it where the new 52 Diana had merged with her post crisis self and became a new variant with both memories and of her past together as one. She can still be the daughter of Zeus, but give new ablilites that could be a kin to say the Lynda Carter version of Wonder Woman from the tv show. Should they do that of course.

Dude, its either the DCU will be accepted and successful by the time a new "Wonder Woman" movie rolls around, or it will be failing and rebooted again. So he has about 5 years to decide weather or not he needs to recast Gal Gaddot. If Gunn is rocking he could use "Betty White" as Wonder Woman and fans will accept it. And also, by the time we get to WW, people should understand how the reboot works. This goes the same for Aquaman. Basically his sequel right now is the equivalent of WW84. He can have a dud. Its a free shot. And if Gunn has too, he can bring back Jason Mamao and Gadot as different characters if he wishes. Why would he burn bridges and make announcements he does not need to yet.

Yeah I would love Gal to come back but many problems will come with it. First your going to have people say that "wait your keeping Gal as Wonder Woman, how come your not keeping Henry and Ben despite saying its a new slate.", and that's resonable. Second its going to be confusing cause its bad enough The Flash didn't do a good job of establishing the new universe, and who was staying and who was going. They can't be like the MCU, cause they are just in a better universe where they bring back characters liks Charlie Cox Daredevil and JK Simmions J Jonah Jamesons.

I liked Gadot as WW genuinely, but why keep her on? Its not like she's an incredible actress, and its not like she couldnt be easily replaced. Just wouldnt make sense to me. Why not just re-cast? I dont any negative to recasting. I liked all the castings for the trinity (especially Batfleck), but none of them are irreplaceable. Personally, I think Chris Pine was what elevated Gal Gadots performance 🤷‍♂️

Gal could stay on as a producer and help write it if she is not cast as Wonder Woman. Gunn may or not of deciding 100% yet if he's keeping Gal or not. That's how I interpret his quotes, as in, she's not fired or let go because I physically have not done that yet. The Amazons show sounds to be set perhaps pretty far back into the DCU history and may be more like an origin series for the Amazons, so WW probably is not likely to appear in season 1 of that, meaning, it might be a while before we see Wonder Woman again. Another possibility is that Gunn might be establishing that Wonder Woman is always played by Gal in the multiverse that was seen in the Flash. Ezra might always be Barry Allen in each universe (whereas the George Reeve's earth had Jay as that earth's Flash). The end credit scene showed that JM was still Aquaman in the Clooney-verse, hinting that like Barry, Jason is Aquaman in each universe. Whereas Batman or Superman always looks slightly different. The same could be true with Gal, Waller, and Peacemaker. A third possibility is that she is DCEU's Wonder Woman and has for some reason been transported to the new DCU that Gunn is making (similar to how Superman and Wally survived Flashpoint). A less likely scenario is that Wonder Woman 3 won't be set in Gunn's DCU but will still be set in the previous universe or in one of the verses seen in the Flash film. As in, it will be stand alone and not persay connected to any one particular continuity. Finally, we don't know what Gunn's Endgame is. If he plans on doing a Crisis on Infinite Earths type of event, then we could eventually see previous DCEU actors show up again for a major film Gunn has planned (never say never for seeing Henry back as Superman in some form or another). In line with this, nothing stops Gunn for also making an Elseworlds film down the line, which could be an adaption of the Kingdomcome storyline. All that I am saying is that Gunn as not laid out all of his ideas yet and may have creative reason as to why some cast members are not being recast and are staying in his DCU, which might make sense when the actual film comes out, until then we are not being given all the facts or evidence. What's more, Gunn may have gone back on his initial plans to keep Gal back in January and already has plans to recast, he just hasn't communicated that with Gal yet and is just waiting for the right time and is instead focusing on Superman and Creature Commandoes.

I believe there is a deeper issue here. 1st off I totally endorse Gal as Wonder Woman and yes WW 84 was terrible the 1st was a classic and she is physically and visually the perfect cast. The problem for me and a lot of my comrades is that that can also be said about Mr Cahill!!! I don’t buy that Henry didn’t fit into his new vision which now is being called the DCU. I believe this is more of a personal thing . Remember before Mr. Gunn became president he was one of the creators/directors and interacted with other directors and actors. He personally saw Henry refuse to do a cameo in the 1st Shazam(which I personally felt was stupid and a grave mistake but in my opinion suggested by Danny Garcia and the Rock)He also witnessed the Rock play hardball with the studio about his interaction with Shazam not wanting to share characters from his upcoming Black Adam movie but more significantly not wanting to be associated with Shazam which is crazy. The Rock felt like this version of Shazam was to childish and wanted a more serious tone which I agree. His mistake though was not realizing Black Adam is the Antagonist to the main character which is Shazam. What he should have done was instead of just a super man cameo in black Adam they also should have a Shazam cameo where Black Adam senses his power and make a conscious decision that a child doesn’t deserve this power and goes to take it from him. This eventually leads to a confrontation hurting Shazam badly and now Henry shows up to rescue Shazam and the Rock has his big fight with Superman. So when Mr. Gunn came into power he felt like the Rock was toxic and bad for business. He would be a thorn in his side if he kept the rock around and because Henry and the Rock are basically under the same management to kill the cancer in his opinion he had to cut out or off both. I understand it by the Rock was the problem. Now you keep all these characters and not the beloved Henry is really hard for hardcore DC fans as myself to swallow….smdh

I still have hope that this is just a misunderstanding. The interview this excerpt came from seems to be from before July because she didn’t know who was cast as Supes yet. I think it might be another Cavil situation where she’s been told one thing but it will ultimately lead to her not sticking around as WW. It’s just the better call. The DC brand can’t afford to have anymore hits taken at it. You could excuse TSS, Peacemaker and Blue Beetle but keeping Gal will just murk things up even if people catch up to speed that she won’t be the same DCEU WW. I feel like the only reason she could be staying is simply due to contractually being obligated to make a third film and Zaslav refusing to pay out of pocket to buy her out. Because creatively and for brand safety it would be a much better call to kick Gal off and cast a better actress.

Yeah, it very well could be! I mean to be honest, I don't think the interview comments being from before the comments make a difference with respect to that. We knew way back when Gunn was making those responses to fans about Gal that he didn't want Henry Cavill's Superman. So, Gal was still under the impression that she was staying on despite that, I suppose similar to others like Viola Davis etc. The only weird thing in general is those responses I displayed from Gunn saying that "we didn't let Gal go" among others. One of them has been deleted though, so who knows. It's possible things could have changed. But he for sure inferred through saying things like "we didn't boot gal/we didn't let Gal go" that she was staying on in some capacity, and Gal saying what she has recently just makes that more questionable, on top of his silence. I think 3/4 of people are feeling that this is an odd call to make when 2/3 of the trinity are going to be recast. We'll have to wait and see I guess!

Yeah you’re definitely right on that being weird. Maybe he was just being coy because he knew she was still involved in 2/4 of the last DCEU films and had to keep the branding up for that while Cavil obviously wasn’t casted for any of those, making it easier for him to keep the illusion going that Gal isn’t getting booted. Idk just a hunch. But it definitely would be weird. Like you said there are some positives but overall keeping her will just piss off fans even more (especially Cavil fans since they’ll likely call hypocrisy on the decision). I’m hoping things change and Gunn will come out and clear this up after the strike. He’ll probably be able to be even more upfront with us in regards to where the DCU is going once the residual slate finishes off with Aquaman and he doesn’t have to promote those movies. If you fire Cavill, it just feels kinda dirty to keep Gadot. I like her Wonder Woman, don’t get me wrong. In my perfect version of the universe the Snyderverse wouldn’t have ended prematurely and Gal would still be Wonder Woman. However if you’re going to rip the bandaid off and give us a new Superman and Batman, you need to give us a new Wonder Woman. I feel dc fans and casuals alike won’t feel like this is a proper reboot. wouldn't it be awsme if the batman saga is prequel to dcu batman, first taking place in year1-3 and other year8-12 and it will show how much bruce/batman/drifter can and has developed between these years. not only it will show both psychological and physical development, but to give chance to explore batman mythos without limitation, i mean brave and bold can introduce damian and others, but possibly league of asassins wouldn't be villain, maybe a the batman sequel can explore past of bruce and talia and ra's and lady shiva. also dick grayson can be introduced in evnd.
