I think you're pretty right mate. I was born in the 80s & seen this decline in real time. I'd add that collecting game(console gamer here) also contributed as part of the fun was owning the games & digital only releases along with the 'patch it later' approach has made games disposable & have no substance.

*I usually buy 2 AAA games a year but its even hard to do that now because everything is just recycled and mid 😭 I'll pick up Infinite Wealth this summer and probably AC Red in the fall 🕵Control 2 and GTA 6 next year 😍 Far Cry 7 whenever its ready....but that's about it* 🌈

as a fellow western Aussie in a small town i agree with some of your points not all of them ( the git gud one i did not like no offense im stuck on the bullet hell boss in cup head the robot one with the mad doctor) but yeah the cost of everything going up games are lacking creativity and are stupidly predatory to just see us as walking wallets all the new games are online only single player or not and i very much feel you for the SHITTY god terrible NBN its SO DAMN SLOW and UNSTABLE i would love to be a live streamer and playing retro games or new games if they peaked my interest but not with a video quality of 144p and yeah im on a old gaming pc as well just recently ordered a top of the line current gen up to date pc with a 4070 installed costing me 6200$ and that was on sale if it was not it would have costed me 8000$ and i don't even have a job im on a disability pension of only 70$ a week so the new games are not as good as the old i very much don't feel bad to piret the golden era of gaming ( ps1 and ps2 era mostly ) and play games that are complete and were just made for fun

There are so many good older games that i don't care anymore just waiting till the point it gets so bad 0 people will pay for it so they either go bankrupt or a forced to change.

@@cosmicsvids hopefully a change for the better but come this is modern day corpret they will just find the next best way to make monetization misrable and i think we already seen it what with ubisoft out right taking games away that you bought if you don't log into your ubisoft connect account within 6 months they apprernly have the right to terminate your account
