My life was going no where when I Wasn’t practicing my faithful religion and honestly I wanted to end i-t all… i was a lost soul even got tempted to do things I am against(no no nothing like that (smoke, dr**).(nothing like that just sadness and wanted to give up) Then religion came in to play. And I felt like a lightbulb happened. Right then I knew this was the way to go live life. I was born Catholic. Best decision to turn to prayers and him🤍🙏 I am NOT turning back. As an African American person when I moved to two different areas my daughter and I were put out of our neighborhood churches within the first 5min. Up until then I didn't know that white and black people had to attend separate churches even though the type of churches were the same. It was a real eye opener to the real reality of racism and I will never forget the hate in those people's eyes and the mumbling when we walked in. Needless to say that I am no longer christian.

I know what it’s like to have your expectations not met by a church. Talking from experience having moved into a different area and been to over 5 different Churches in the last few years I get the pain your going through. All it took was a few bad experience for you to give up though? I encourage you to seek and you will find. There is a church for you and your daughter that will love and embrace you. Sometimes it’s necessary for us go through these experiences because when we find the right church for us it will be all the much sweeter. Truth is there are a lot homogeneous churches out there predominantly white, black Asian etc. When a churches ethnic make up is a direct reflection of it’s immediate population that’s a miracle in itself. In my experience just because a church is multicultural and not homogeneous or predominantly black or white it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the place that we will want to be. I encourage you not to give up your faith because the road hasn’t been smooth. Give your daughter the opportunity that you had to get to know Christ.

I (Gen Z) was raised christian from the day I was born. Sunday school, vacation Bible school, church camps, were stuff I became very used to. I knew pretty much everyone in the church I went to, and was involved in the youth group. I started questioning some of the teachings as early as age 11, but nothing struck me much. When I was 13, I started developing tics. The people at the church and other churches as well started telling me that their satan was causing it and that I needed to turn to their god. I was diagnosed with tourette syndrome by a neurologist about 2 months before I turned 14. For a few years since my diagnosis, the members of these churches continued to tell me that it was my fault, it’s because I’m a sinner, it’s a punishment from god, satan did it, and many other awful things. I turned to self harm for a while. Then went to therapy. After a while I realized I didn’t want to be surrounded by people who were constantly telling me I was being punished for reasons they couldn’t even come up with by having a neurological condition like tourettes. I left the religion and became more spiritual/agnostic not too long before I turned 17. I made more friends with the people that the church would try to demonize (lgbtq folks, people of other religions, atheists) and realized that the same people the church was telling me were terrible people who hated me and the god the church believed in, treated me better than the church ever had.

They just poured out their heart and truth and spoke to an issue we’ve all witnessed in church culture. As a minister I know this kinda rhetoric that brings more harm than healing and acceptance. Especially always trying to call something a demon, with limited understanding cause we don’t actually have an answer and afraid of what we don’t understand. And furthermore I didn’t hear them say they left Jesus. They left church people and church people’s perspective of “God”. And even if they don’t believe in Jesus anymore, my response still wouldn’t be “well you just need to come back”. Come back? To pain and hurt and dark depression!?!?! My response is: I am so sorry that happened to you at such a vulnerable time in your life when you needed a safe community the most. Needed support, love and comfort. Other reasons is because Christianity teaches mostly fear as a means to control. My sister isn't "allowed" to wear slacks, make up and must "obey" her husband. Christians say to love one another, but mean not "others" which makes them mostly hypocrites. This was made worse when the Church got involved with politics and politicians using Christianity as a front for ridiculous and hate filled policys, throwing "love thy neighbor as thyself" out the window. We are all spiritual beings having a human experience so I'm not surprised people have moved more and more towards spirituality. They are better at seeing themselves and others through the eyes of Gods' Unconditional Love.

I’m a ‘99 baby and growing up Catholicism was unhealthily shoved down my throat. I never got to form my own beliefs because I was essentially told “This is the only way”, and I hated it. Finally, when I was 17 and 2 months from Confirmation I spoke up and said that I didn’t want to do it anymore. I never even paid attention during mass or bible study. I fought religion for a long period after but now I’ve come to terms that yes I believe in the holy trinity and stories of the Bible, but I refuse to hold such stern, hateful beliefs that contradict what it means to be a decent human being.

Catholicsm was from around 300 controlled by the Roman Empire whose religion was all about dominance. True christianity of the apostles was one of radical revolutionary love for not only your fellow christian but all of Gods children. Consider this, if Jesus is the light and the word(a word being a vibration) and the essence of unconditional love then anyone who finds God/divine through a method of love or on a vibration of love and is filled with the light then even if they are a different religion and dont use the name Jesus they are still following "the one way". I'm one of the older Millennials in our generation. My youth was heavily influenced by my family's involvement in Christianity, but I chose to leave the church/organized religion in my early 20s. My teenage son is a Gen Z'er & we've had many discussions regarding religion, however, I've always been careful not to influence his thinking with my personal experiences. My son believes in science above all else & that is what he says is the reason he's incapable of having religious beliefs. My generation grew up with science at the heart of everything we learned so I tend to believe as my son does. We have also witnessed family members, who loudly profess their Christian beliefs, yet they say & do things completely antithetical to the teachings within the Bible. My son is also acutely aware of our current political climate & supports the separation of church & state. We live in a very conservative & evangelical community in rural Indiana, so his opinion is not always popular, especially at school. Despite the adversity, he's stuck to his beliefs and I couldn't be more proud of him. We have no problem with religion or anyone's beliefs...we would just like believers to respect us & our right not to believe as they do.

Science and faith are not at odds with each other. I used to think that, but it's an incredibly limiting, two-dimensional point of view. There are many scientists who developed their faith BECAUSE of science. That said, science is only about physical phenomena which can be repeated in experiments. You can't put God in a petri dish, though. I implore you to look up Dr Sy Garte on KZbin and watch his interview. Also, the director of the Human Genome Project (Dr. Francis Collins) found his faith because of his scientific research. That's just a handful of brilliant scientists who are professors at prestigious universities doing cutting edge research who seem have no issues believing in God while conducting good science.

I grew up religious, and after leaving home a devout Christian. Eventually I looked at life and pondered as to why a “all loving and good God” would allow for some of this stuff to happen. Look at this world. If your god is as loving and caring as your churches talk about then why did they reinforce with so much hate over the years? There’s been many other religions that have deemed as “myth” in order for them to be seen immediately as not real, but contain stories just like Christianity (all while being more inclusive than Christianity!) Religion is also what connects with you. With Christianity I was the one having to search for it. In my new religion, it reached out to me. I can put faith into it and see signs from the pantheon. Religion shouldn’t be a “Well my parents believed in it, so I must too” type thing and Gen Z is the first generation to realize that I believe.

The book of Job has answers to why bad things happen, but not all the answers. If we only love God for the good things then we don’t really love God we just like the good things he gives us but if you love God through those bad things then God’s going to turn it around for redemption. The reason the church is hateful to other groups is because they’re forgetting what Christianity is all about. We are supposed to love people but not their sinful lifestyle and a lot of people forget about this. Sure you’re introduced to Christianity through your family ,but that doesn’t deny you from making it your own belief. Also learning about Christianity through your parents isn’t the only way. Also don’t you have to search for your new religion also? Idk I don’t really get that.

I'm a 12 years old girl in Greece. In the past, I didn't believe that much in Christianity but last year, everything changed. I started going through really hard times at school and with my family. That's when I started praying every night before I sleep. I do that for about a year now and when I'm not okay or when I'm sad and crying I talk to God. Jesus has helped me really much on my hard times. I just love him and I'm never gonna stop doing that and lose my faith. Nobody can make me change my mind whatever they say. ❤

I discovered the tomfoolery in religion when I was about 15 years and stopped going to church permanently after my mum joined a religious sect that refused to take their sick to hospital because they believed that all power of healing of physical and mental ailments came from the power of prayer. Later, I saw my sick mum die after refusing to take medicine for a whole nine months. This happened after my sister had died with her unborn child during labour due to the christian sect members failing to take her to maternity hospital and they prayed for her the whole day. Religion is the greatest lie ever created by humans.

Well, don't be comfortable with your not knowing position, get to know God. It's possible. So you left church, because of judgmental people, but you there also judge the church as hypocritical and greedy. Why you left, and not took opportunity to help those to give up their greediness or hypocrisy? Do not let such people to keep your out of the church. I'm an atheist, but was never a believer, so I'm fascinated with deconversion stories. The journey out of theism and all the emotional manipulation that goes with it is fascinating to me because I do not know if I could have overcome that kind of indoctrination. I have thus read hundreds of deconversion stories, and have noticed certain patterns. The deconversion process can take months, years, or even decades to unfold. Generally, there is a period of intense study in an effort to figure out what is true. There is also a component of wanting to distance from the immorality of the Christian church. If you look at the deconversion stories of older ex-theist atheists, there is generally more emphasis on the search for truth and less emphasis on wanting to avoid association with evil. If you look at the stories of younger atheists, there is more emphasis on wanting to disassociate from evil and less emphasis on the search for truth. You can hear it echoed in the interviews in this video. They can no longer tolerate the immorality and do not want others to associate them with the immorality that has consumed the church. Bad truth claims and learning about the murky origins of the Bible are no longer the primary cause of deconversion. It's the moral issues, plain and simple.

I'm an agnostic (from atheist. incidents happened with me and it proved to me personally that there's something out there) and have been seeking the truth for quite a while now. Spoke to some evangelists and their arrogance and hypocrisy pushed me away from this religion. They say they are logical or whatever but I've seen quite a lot of them just forcing their beliefs onto me. For now I'm happy with the eastern religions which aren't as rigid. I grew up in church I loved it. Sunday school, AWANA's clubs for kids was great but back in my day we had "Pioneer Girls" which was so fun. I was the Chief Pilot for four years voted in in a row. I started the Scrap book at church of our group. Got to walk & be in the Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA. I only did that once, I got to carry the end of the sign in front of our group. That was really hard to walk to far. So I changed our group by passing a rule that a new person is voted in every year for the leader & the scrap book keeper upper. It just didn't seem fair, & I was too busy with school & work after school & sports & homework which is struggled at. Glad I got saved in church it has led me to SRF=Self=Realization Fellowship, I'm very happy with the holy group I'm with now for 25 years now. God is real & Jesus Saves. Never changed my beliefs just added the higher knowledge. Wonderful. ☦

I would fall into Paul's "older atheist" category. As a man of science, I've always been about Truth. Objective, verifiable truth. As a child I went to church and was brought up to believe in God, etc., but I always had my doubts, even back then. It just didn't seem to make sense. If God exists, where is he? Why can't I see Him or hear Him? There's no evidence of his existence. It all just seems to be made up; imaginary. I mean, come on. If someone told you he had a friend whom no one can see or hear, who is all-powerful, yet incapable of doing _anything_ to make his presence known, but who really, really exists nonetheless, wouldn't you think your friend is crazy? And if God loves us and is all-powerful, why does He allow bad things -- sometimes horrible things -- to happen? There seems to be a serious inconsistency there. Then around 1987, I heard in the news about a man named Larry Singleton who was being released from prison after only seven years for raping a 14-year-old girl named Mary Vincent and chopping her arms off. The unspeakable horror and brutality of this crime really affected me, and quickly confirmed what I had always suspected: *There is no God.* How could a loving God allow such a horrible thing to happen to anyone, let alone a child? The only rational explanation was that there isn't one. Which was also consistent with the total lack of evidence of such a supernatural being. That's when I became a confirmed atheist. At that point I experienced a profound sense of relief from the cognitive dissonance resulting from the idea of a benevolent and omnipotent Supreme Being that seemed incapable and/or unwilling to stop Evil. Everything made sense after that. The world is crazy and chaotic, yes, but that's because there ISN'T a Supreme Being in charge of things! It all made sense now. Of course, my little essay here isn't going to convert any True Believers. The desire to believe in a benevolent Supreme Being that looks out for us is very strong. But I'd rather be guided by Truth -- supported by evidence -- and the answer seems patently obvious to me. I'm just amazed that at this advanced point in human existence, 23 years into the 21st century, where we have supercolliders that have unlocked the mysteries of subatomic particles and have space telescopes that can see into the farthest reaches of the universe and observe the first proto-galaxies being formed, there are still _so many_ people who believe in an invisible, omnipotent being that has no discernible location and for which there isn't a shred of evidence. (And indeed, against which there is overwhelming proof of its _nonexistence,_ despite the fact that no such proof is required.) I could understand it if we were still living in the Dark Ages. But _today???_

As I grew older, I realized that religions are old, problematic frameworks entirely based on people's feelings, emotions, faulty intuitions, and agendas. It can help people process difficult experiences, but it leaves people vulnerable to abuse, manipulation, avoidance, contradiction, tribalism, self-hate, dishonesty, magical thinking, and all kinds of other issues. Belief in Santa Claus or the tooth fairy never improved the world. The Bible is the source for things like the end of slavery and the belief in individual rights. The Bible is the source of real Christianity, and it teaches each believer is a priest able to be guided by God - now that is liberating from exploitation. And organizations and groups of humans are subject to abuse and exploitation as humans have a herd nature that is easily exploited by those with bad intentions.

Yes God does love the people in lgbtq but he does not love their sinful lifestyles. Also that is true that Christ died for our sins but that does not mean we can live in sin freely. You see you cant love sin and love God at the same time because then God is just going to put you with the sinful people. You see there is not middle ground in Christianity. @@JesusIsOurLord-xk9zz No, He said all sins and blasphemies of men shall be forgiven them. When you come to Christ and believe, you are repenting and turning from sin for in His grace He redeems all who believe. We are either saved or we are not. It is all in Him and our faith in Him which justifies sinners, including the LGBtQ people. The church has no right to hate and disparage these individuals. They have gone out of their way to show cruelty and hate instead of Jesus and His love and redemption for this community. It is very disappointing and extremely discouraging. Jesus does not exclude the LGBTQ community in His grace or love, He hung for them on the cross. He paid their sins. We have died to sin in Him. It is finished. If you try to narrow down how this person keeps doing that sin or the other, you miss the point of Jesus and the grace He showed to sinners who cannot redeem themselves. Not to get legalistic, but working on the Sabbath is punishable by death, as is planting two different crops next to one another, speaking against your parents. Women on their cycle are considered unclean, as is touching the skin of a dead pig. Yet the Church never says anything about that, but so many go after LGBTQ people. I find it to be bullying.

It becomes apparent very quickly that all the arguments for God are fatally flawed. Here in Canada at the current rate of decline, the mainline denominations will all be pretty much gone by 2050, and Christians will only make up between 10-15% of the population. In the US it will take a little longer, but eventually Christianity will die out there too.

I'm choosing not to force my child to go to church like my parents did. It turned me off the idea of having a relationship with God because it felt forced. Instead, I'm teaching my daughter all the spiritual principles I learned from the people I saw actually living healthy, spiritual lives (typically not found in the church). I think this will do her a great service and lead her to have an actual relationship with God. I believe God would rather us try to seek out his guidance everyday rather than just on Sundays.

@ReallyBadJuJu Trust me, I've been doing that since I was 14 when I first started going to AA. It took me 11 years to get completely sober and during that time I did ALOT of self analysis and questioning of my own beliefs. I finally settled into a spiritual "understanding" after an incredibly profound spiritual experience that jolted me into sobriety ever since. That was 8 years ago and I'm still strong in my spirituality. Interestingly enough, my daughter is the one who is bringing up the spirituality topic on a regular basis. She frequently says things like "Who makes trees, God or Humans?". "Who are God's Parents?" "How old is God?" She has an innate curiosity about our Creator and loves thinking about him and praying to him. She also is very interested in the space and science.

Islam is the fastest growing religion. Muslim tend to have higher birth rates compared to other religion. Muslim populations has limited access to contraception and family planning services. This can result from factors such as inadequate healthcare infrastructure, lack of education on family planning methods, and religious beliefs that discourage contraception use. Low Socioeconomic Factors among Muslims also play a role in high birth rates. Muslim families have limited access to education and employment opportunities. In such circumstances, having more Muslim children can be seen as a way to secure support for older age, contribute to Muslim family labor, or increase the chances of economic stability.

So how come he can't write a book, like the Bible or the Book of Islam. Because don't you think that he doesn't want people to follow him and know his way of living or what would happen if you follow him. He can be the loving one. But we don't know, the same with God. Because no one has met the invisible man in the Sky either. So here is the question, were is his Book of defence?

Back when I was 5/6 years old, I wasn't taught that there were other religions, I just accepted that Christianity was the only one and wanted to be baptized, of which, that happened. It wasn't until I was in (a private Christian) middle school that I learned there were other religions. In that same school that I learned of the stupidity of Christianity. One such thing they taught was "Christianity is the only True Religion. All others are fake." From that point on, I decided that I would have been better off without being a part of the occult and decided to work my way through the rest of my school years. The moment I graduated in 2016, I ditched that awful religion. I have been happy ever since. The private school taught Pre-K through 12th grade. I attended from 7th grade through 11th. Why 11th? I crammed two years-worth of knowledge because that school wasn't open the following year.

As a Gen Z’er the churches views on LGBT issues bothers me immensely but personally that’s not what initially pushed me away from it. For me it had more to do with the colonial justifications it created for erasing a large part of my peoples history and culture. Many Mayan, Mexica and other Mesoamerica texts were burned for being “heretical” and they contained a lot of history that we now have to also pick up through ruins. I also grew up with autism (and obviously still live with it) and it had a lot strange stigmas around mental health. It made me feel guilty for normal hormones that make me a sexual being as we most are. There were just too many philosophical issues and scientific issues that I had with it growing up but I don’t think for all of us it started with lgbt issues. Personally I noticed the scientific, philosophical and most importantly historical issues first before I could completely shed any of the homophobic or transphobic feelings that were passed down to my by parents religious views. Which luckily was early on in middle school but I just want to say that this one issue albeit very important doesn’t encompass everything. It has almost everything to do with Social Justice though, yes. A lot of racist, colonialist ideas were spread and justified through Christianity. Science was necessary to prove that we’re all the same and that differences between us are almost entirely social and made up. That the harm we’ve done one another was over assumptions and made up lies. That was my core issue with it growing up and what eventually lead to me later questioning every one of its policies that antagonized other groups.

But if God is almighty and he created people with brains, then how and why is knowledge a bad thing? I grew up in a southern baptist church. My mom and I prepared food for the church every Wednesday night so that everyone could have the chance to enjoy a hot meal. Part of the reason for deciding to do this was because we knew that there were families with children who couldn't always afford to have a hot dinner, and we offered them dinner at no charge and charged only $8 for those who were better off. Those who paid got angry that the less fortunate families got free food and made a big deal about it to the preacher. I also had an experience where I caught my youth counselor talking about how she thought that I was weird and didn't like my personality to another youth counselor while I was at church camp. The same youth counselor happened to be my neighbor and told my mom that the other neighbor's son was possessed by the devil because he had adhd. There was also the time that I caught adults talking poorly about a girl who attended our church because she had a teen pregnancy. They did this in the church parking lot less than 10 minutes after service was over after they had just smiled in the girl's face and said that God does everything for a reason and that they would pray for her and her baby. All of it haunted me into adulthood and was one of the many reasons that I turned my back on Christianity and turned agnostic.

My biggest issue with the catholic church is they preach one thing but do another. I knew a priest that my dad got into an argument with over the school and for some reason my dad felt bad and wanted to say sorry to the priest so he did so on his death bed and that priest refused to forgive him and he ended up dying. and that is the way of how God judges us. Are you critical of God or the people who claim to be followers of God? Are you saved by default of being Catholic or any other denomination? Or just simply making a statement of faith? In God's Word, we are told of a servant who is greatly indebted to the king. The king chose to forgive the servant. He didn't attach any caveats. He didn't give him any tasks. There were no Hail Marys or any other conditions. There was only forgiveness, completely free. Full of grace. Afterward, the servant departed and came unto someone that was indebted to him. He chose not to forgive that person who was indebted and chose to punish them instead. Upon hearing of the lack of forgiveness, the king summoned the servant before him and then reinstated all the previous debt. All forgiveness had been removed. Your dad did right (which is righteousness) . He is covered in grace. That is God. The unforgiving priest is not of God. Please follow your dad's example, and forgive as God instructs us. Dont be like the unforgiving priest. Your dad did good. Jesus gives us this story as a description of God's Kingdom in Matthew 18, starting at verse 23. Even concerning the priest, you should forgive him as well. Your dad did. As for the above video, this is the "falling away" prophesied in the bible.

This isn't a concept unique to Zoomers. It's been a long-time trend that has been building across generations, but accelerated since Millennials with the dawn of the internet age. The gap between Zoomer and Millennials isn't as large as this video insinuates and their data is very outdated (sources are 5-8 years old!!). Newer sources demonstrate the gap is much closer between those two, and the gap much larger compared to prior generations. We'll also likely see Gen A being even more atheist than Zoomers and Millennials as the trend continues to accelerate. And what's to say people don't abandon religion as they age? This video also places way too much emphasis on sexuality as for the decline of interest in religion when that's just only one of many reasons. I would take this video headline with a grain of salt and recommend anyone further research before making assumptions. It simply wasn't well crafted as it could have been.

It's more honest to be candid about your spiritual beliefs. The lines distinguishing between those who follow Jesus must become very clear. American Christians need to start praying for the young people of the USA PS not sure when this video was posted but in the last 2-3 months a revival has begun on American campuses with Gen Z'rs running to God. Muslim social attitudes on modern issues have caused controversy everywhere. Islam to be incompatible with secular society, and that, unlike other religions, Islam positively commands its adherents to impose its religious law on all peoples, believers and unbelievers alike, whenever possible and by any means necessary. Islam allows to propagate abuses, such as the mistreatment of women and homosexuals, and slavery. They also state that multiculturalism allows a degree of religious freedom that exceeds what is needed for personal religious freedom and is conducive to the creation of organizations aimed at undermining secular values. According to poll, high people had an unfavourable view of Islam, higher than for any other religion.Islamic rule in India was a form of colonialism, characterized by the imposition of a foreign islamic culture, religion, and political system on the Indian subcontinent. Muslims were foreign invaders who came to India and imposed their Islamic faith and culture on the indigenous population. They point to examples of the destruction of Hindu temples, the imposition of Jizya tax on non-Muslims, and the forced conversions to Islam as evidence of this colonialist mindset.
