Yes Habits have to be lifestyle to live! Cant stress it more. Also as he mentions later that Periodic reviews and reflections are also essential, in order to be aware of the direction!

I had no idea about James Clear. I was reading an article on "Medium", and there I found him as the author of that particular article. I loved it then so much that I started reading about him a little and got to know he has a blog and he wrote a book. It's been a month since I've subscribed to his blog and OH MY GOD, I look forward to every Monday and Thursday for his mails. So so useful. God bless you, James.

I was very surprised when I first read the book. He didn't start off by listing habits but by asking the reader about things they wanted to change. I already knew what I wanted to do and mostly how I could get it done.

One of my favorite self improvement books I have read ever. James Clear simplifies what most are so scared to do. I engaged in this book via audio, I mean reading makes me fall asleep, the authors don't. James is a genius!!!!!His blog gets more than 2MM visits a month. I relate to the story of the guy who needed to hit the gym...the gym is scary...but we need to be healthy. By setting TINY goals show up (drive to the gym) even if you don't go in that is a TINY step. Next time open the door and spend 10 minutes working out, and build up from there. Scale it down don't try to eat the elephant in one big bite.I teach my Business Development team @mscindustrialsupply James Clears Atomic Habits.Thank you @JamesClear

I'm halfway through this book and it's first time I see how this guy look like. He is so hot and super inteligent at the same time!!!! Ps. James , I would never tell you had the accident as a kid and cannot imagine you with the eye popping out :) Regarding the book, I have started reading it on the flight and had to force myself to stop in the middle of the book to save some of it for later. I finished The Power Of Habit few days ago, but you really take it very much further.. Honestly, Amazing!

Nice to see that old school teachings are coming back: but there is no need to buy a book. It is plain and simple New behaviors can become automatic through the process of habituation through positive or negative reinforcement process or even punishment-Skinner, Pavlov.... The whole Kypernetik, autopoietic experiments (S. Beer, Luhrmann…) explained the process of the feedback loops and the adjustment process which is part of the habituation process to adapt or adjust. Old habits are hard to break (e.g. addiction) and new habits are hard to form because the behavioural patterns which humans repeat become imprinted in neural pathways- so the incremental shift can only happen, if there is the right amount of self-consciousness, the right amount of commitment, energy and motivation (avoidance of pain and wanting more incentives). The fall-back rate depends on the threshold which is defined by the amount of energy which someone hast to spend to move from state 1 to state 2, and the value of the outcome / incentive (expected vs experienced, and it can be positive or even be a punishment). If it is > then the motivation to keep changing or adapting a new habit will be pursued, if it is < then it will be stopped, if it is = then a re-evaluation process will take place.

I think the question is when does a new lifestyle change become an automatic habit where an individual doesn't even consciously think about it and just does it normally like walking.

Justin Swenson--Actually knowing about something important, like a famine, is the only way to change it. There's a place for videos about new books, pop psychology, entertainment, cute human/animal interest stories, etc. News channels should be 90% about the news.
