If the new HBO Max reboot were 2D animated, that'd be a fresh take, and I'd be much more excited for it. This was a nice video. You make a lot of great points here. Good editing too. I'd be interested in hearing you talk more about the potential for a HP reboot - or rather, a new adaptation of the books. What can be done with it, what lessons they can learn from the movies, and what can be done better.

Well damn, now I can't help but want this 😭 I started reading the books before I discovered the movies so my first visuals of the story were all Mary Grandpre's illustrations for the Scholastic books. I remember thinking how awesome it would be if HP was an animated tv series, because that's kinda what I grew up watching.

Mary Grandpre’s art had a HUGE influence on my vision of Harry Potters world! I used a lot of them in my video for that reason, it’s how I imagined it.

I think so many things would be better 2D animated. But it takes so much work and money and these days efficiency matters so much more than art. And yeah, movies with magic and sparkly transformations and diverse creatures and lots of color get so much more whimsical and full of wonder when they are drawn out by hand instead of being "puppetted" in cgi or acted out in live action in a set. We kind of abandoned that feeling in animation altogether because they think everyone prefers realism now. :/

I'm sorry but you literally have done almost no research on animation. Your knowledge is mainly based on stereotypes. It's much more difficult, time-consuming and expensive than you think. Live action is more profitable for creators, especially when they plan to make 8 films, and the only audience who would watch these 2D animations would be children or Harry Potter fans, so they would make much less money. The Harry Potter movies wouldn't be replayed on TV every year like they are now. You think it's just one factor influencing this decision, but it's much more than that, which is why I don't think you're educated enough to talk about it.

Could you help me understand where I went wrong? I’ve considered talking more about how Harry Potter would be great 2D animated but would hate to spread misinformation. I feel like I’ve done a lot of looking into how animation works. What research can I do that will properly educate me?

I explained everything u need to know in my previous comment. I know u prefer the 2D project more but u gotta think about the profits first.
