In china In 2006, Peng Yu had encountered Xu Shoulan after she had fallen, breaking her femur. Peng assisted Xu and brought her to a local hospital for further care. Xu accused Peng of having caused her fall, and demanded that he pay her medical expenses. The court decided in favor of the plaintiff and held Peng liable for damages, reasoning that despite the lack of concrete evidence, "no one would in good conscience help someone unless they felt guilty".[3]

I feel sad for people who cannot accept help because they feel like they are not worthy of it.
@davidtherwhanger6795
@davidtherwhanger6795 Ай бұрын
It is not always that we feel unworthy of it. Many times it is because we at one time did not need it, but do now. We sometimes feel robbed by circumstance, but it is much easier to be mad at those who try to help. Especially when that help is not asked for. When we wanted to try to do something for ourselves as we once did and some one jumps in to do it for us or assist us, we then feel that person is robbing us of the chance to self validate.
@RustyMudstix
@RustyMudstix Ай бұрын
For me, it's a slightly different problem. I know full well that I need help, however, the circumstances of which I grew up from made me far more cautious and in certain other cases Hostile towards the idea of receiving help. I'm used to one of two responses specifically. The first is understandable "sorry, I can't". Because not everyone can help if asked. It happens. And then on the other side of the spectrum, there were people who are "Busy Bodies". I mention that I planned to save up to buy a car (the point being the Process, not the End Result). This particular person (a relative) swooped in, decided which car I should buy, who it should be from and how said car should be bought and would not take "No" for an answer. This person decided to help against my will. I already had a plan in place for the Explicit purpose of giving me something to work towards as an exercise of self-improvement. Having that experience forcefully taken away from me is not healthy. Not to mention, this particular relative's behavior was extremely toxic and invasive. It's not that I can't ask for help. It's just either people will say "No" or will not listen to what I actually need help with. Personally, I genuinely hate the people whom (metaphorically speaking) I ask to pass me a nail and they decide to hammer the nail in themselves with no regard of why I'm driving the nail in the wall in the first place. I can't tell you how many projects were hijacked, ignored or destroyed because of this particular type of "helper". Hence, my caution when asking for help.
@malcolmgdavis
@malcolmgdavis Ай бұрын
"do unto others as you would have done to you" does not mean I should cut my neighbor's grass. I don't want my neighbor cutting my grass. Generally, people like to solve their own problems. The only times I ask for help are when I'm stumped, I can't find the answer on the Internet, or I want to make a new friend.

I once helped carry a guy from my highschool , up the stairs because he was extremely drunk while i too was a drunk. Next day he thanked me in person. It felt rewarding. Now months on in highschool i hear my classmates mentioning him talking behind my back. I felt betrayed. I would always try to be kind, but it ends up being forgotten. Hearing that i got talked negatively (i believe so) behind the back by a person i was kind and helpful to, made me wonder if all my kindness is forgotten, replaced by bullying.

@rokos.1239 Ай бұрын
Thank you for kind words. What i wrote above i wrote moments after returning from highschool, so tired as i was, i wrote it a bit poorly. Now after being well rested i can put into details few stuff. Being kind is beautiful. Had many friends and people call me kind and good friend. I had a friend who I encouraged to overcome his fear and he told me that he will never make fun of me again. When people acknowledge your good it pays up. I still remember three years later when bus driver stopped in the middle of the road for me instead of driving away, since it was my fault for coming late. Kindness makes allies and there are many people i am willing to help without pay. What i hate is how this is going in highschool. From helping friends get better grade by arguing with teacher to helping them on exams or even be always open to help, my kindness seems forgotten. When i once tried to remind a friend of A grade he got from exam because i was able to convince the teacher, he told me he doesnt remember. In that moment prior he was mean towards me. This summer i had fixed my grades in math and went out my way to spend 3 hours of my free time i had ,helping 4 friends pass school year. I was cheating and risking for them. It seems they also somewhat forgotten it ,expect one. My problem is that im sacrificing myself to uplift others and help, only to not get same genuine kindness back without asking. I feel like outcast, someone who doesn't belong to them because how differently I behave. Im doing everything for the others and that kindness isnt so easily recognized. This all made me doubt myself and my ability to do good, even gaslighting myself into thinking that there is a problem only i dont see. Thank God im wise so i see their BS and know when it isnt my fault. But all of this made me consider if goodness is worth it. I told myself even when i got nothing in return "i will do good. I saw people quit and become villains, hating, sabotaging and making trouble for others, even those undeserving". I dont want to be those people. I saw enough of hate towards humans and others im sick of it, which is why i told myself that i will be the light in the dark, the few rare ,but valuable as gold. I wont now put myself in the danger for those who don't appreciate my kindness, but i wont give up on trying to change others and help new ones. What angers me here is not that good is not noticed or re-payed. Its the fact that it's forgotten. Also the thought that it seems that some humans dont work, dont think, arent even humans. You can do something great for them and they will forget it. I just can't comprehend that. It reminds me how some people are willing to lose everything just so their jealousy can bring down person they despise. Its just not human. Again thank you for kind words. I love getting support from other people, since i rarely get it in person.

This describes my life. The mentality against altruists doesn‘t even make sense truly… But apparently, as soon as people feel hurt, they go and hurt back - that sums up the aspects mentioned here. Well, except for the shame of needing someone else: That’s likely related to trauma or to the lack of understanding for how reciprocity works in the first place! Allowing yourself to be helped is help enough and it isn’t trivial to find that. Trauma also applies to the scamming and the hurting in disguise. Seriously, we need to change really quick! No wonder it is taking so long to normalize good behavior. Most people think they can only win by making others lose - stop that, seriously!
@rokos.1239

Because we live in world where we have pessimism. People love to complain and take easy ways. "Friend" i know says how only way to survive in this country is to be corrupt like politician, lie, steal, cheat etc. He is trying to normalise those things because someone else is doing it. He doesn't appreciate good ,but money that comes from doing opposite. Society that is actually acknowledging and striving for good will have far stable foundation than any other, because society that doesn't acknowledge it is damaging itself. Its like entire town deciding to rob only store they have only to act shocked when the store closes. If bad people actually got proven and punished we would be far better of. We then wouldn't fear being more vulnerable if we knew that those who abuse it will face deserved instant punishment.

Yeah, same goes for Romania, dear neighbour. Most people from our country (not everyone) also see you as being "sketchy" , or as wanting something from them in return even if you just want to do something good without asking for anything in return, furthermore, they might even think that you have a big scheme/plot against them and they will try to avoid you. It's even worse that, as you said, if you share one of your accomplishments with them they will just act mundane (or sometimes even worse than that) regardless of how big that accomplishment is. It might be jealousy or something similar, but i have seen much more empathy in the people who i talk to and are from other countries (not everyone, but there is a pattern of this more empathic personality in those people that i can easily recognize).

Yes, the honest truth about this is that if you are a decent person those who are not start to introspect about their own actions and behaviors and lash out at you for making them think about it. Sometimes they will just declare out of the blue "I am not like that" in anger or even get specific like saying I do not use people etc. whatever is eating at them in the moment. When you are a decent person you have to learn to accept that people are going to try and drag you down into the mud with them because they can not get out and envy and hate you. They will try to paint your picture for you smearing and tearing at it like a angry toddler. Beware the drowning they will pull you down with them.

People who grew up in not-so-nice environments are likely to continue the cycle of hate (especially if they get into an echo chamber of other people that grew up in a rough environment). I often get a lot of confused looks by people when I try to understand and help people, especially the ones that are not used to receiving help from anyone. Be good to one another, and make sure everyone has someone to talk to. It's easy to isolate yourself with how many ways people are distracted nowadays. Too much isolation, and it's easy for negative thoughts to grow, and make it much harder to see other perspectives

There's a simplier solution. Just draw a line between reality and fantasy. All things like 'supportive family', 'meaningful job', 'true love' and 'understanding' belong solely to the latter. By even considering otherwise you are just perpetuating a delusion.
@keeshuunedited5678
@keeshuunedited5678 Ай бұрын
@@vladcrow4225 This is gonna be a bit long as I literally just woke up and gotta do things, so I don't have time to make it more concise right now, but this'll let me get my most immediate thoughts out quickly at least = ) That's the easy way out though. Problem with that is that you get stuck in your comfort zones. Then they'll never grow, which leads to stagnating, or inevitably decaying until your comfort zones get smaller and smaller to the point where nothing is comfortable anymore. Which inevitably leads to you suffering, and it won't be long before you start spreading that suffering to others intentionally or not. Which just makes things significantly harder/impossible to maintain what you need to have/do to stay alive These things do exist. I've had true love for over 4 years, and another relationship last for many more years (but life intervened with these relationships so they got stopped at some point outside of our control). 'course I feel like it's easier to get true love when you are genuine with all of your actions, true love won't come if you're putting on a mask all the time, 'cuz that mask has to come off at some point for a real relationship I've known people that love their job and feel fulfilled at it, (even though that doesn't feel like the norm with how a lot of people talk nowadays) A supportive family depends heavily on the situation as a lot of people are just kind of distracted with other things in life that they don't try to fully commit to improving family relations as things aren't as bad as they think they are, whereas some families have abuse being common where it should be cut off and start a new family asap, and get yourself healed from all the trauma so you can rationally decide if you want to do something to help them to stop being horrible people or not later. Family is hard, because they impact how you initially are as a person very strongly as they are there during your formative years of your brain, it's not like dealing with any random person. As for feeling understood, I would suggest not expecting any one person to match 100%, nor should one should want to have someone that 100% matches them. Everyone lives different lives, and different perspectives help people get a more well-rounded view of the world for more nuanced decisions. Sure go find someone that relates with you in some ways, but just be ready to find more people that relate with you in ways that person cannot, (and make sure you aren't just looking for echo chambers that don't challenge your ideals. Don't go living life with a single tool. Might be good for a lot of things, and used in interesting ways, but sometimes just using a different tool more suited for a task is better. Let other people show you the different tools you have available to you in life) I will say I feel like it's a bad idea to relegate the real world to being inferior to fantasy. This is coming from someone that for decades preferred video games over real life. Nowadays I spend time in VR to allow my brain to relax and talk with people with their life issues, and while VR feels like heaven for now for a variety of reasons, I would like to bring that feeling into the real world so other people are happy, and so I don't feel reliant on VR to be comfortable with people. It's a slow process, but it gets better overtime, and I feel comfortable with people IRL, and it's easier to help people with stuff properly now (as in, help them to help themselves. Being a slave to people whenever they ask any sort of chore does not help you or them, be smarter than that. Teach a man how to fish sort of situation). Gotta put in the effort to improve yourself and your surroundings to allow these wonderful things to exist. Even if you never achieve a "paradise" you enjoy the process, and the fact that the world will be a bit less like hell as time goes on = )

As we know, it takes one person to ruin everything. We are taught to be critical and skeptical about world and people to always be ready, aware and vigilant in situations where we could be exploited. Biggest problem here can be lack of wisdom. Instead of having reasons and points which made you suspicious, people just "assume". Trust is hard to earn as we know. Letting yourself be vulnerable makes you easier target. Look at Andrew Tate, how he exploits insecure men and pretends to be best person for help. People who believed him got scammed and betrayed. We can be trusting one another, but we need to be careful, because there exist degenerates and monsters willing to exploit our trust.

Reciprocity is the lesson here. It's not that help needs to be paid for, it's that the givers should accept what help back the receivers are willing to give. No one wants to be dependent. We seek to contribute to the social web as much as we seek to benefit from it. We have to allow people, especially those on the outs, their dignity. It's extreme arrogance that the thoughts even questioned. It's why homeless will refuse shelters when they have to be locked in at 5pm til dawn. Helping under condition isn't altruism and it isn't necessarily help, it's control.

This video was very insightful. I recently noticed that people tend to call any positive contribution or opinion as virtue signalling for instance if they express a general concern for the environment or make a personal choice to be vegetarian out of their own love for animals it is attacked even when the other is not trying to establish themselves as superior but just merely expressing their opinion that contradicts the other's, even peaceful protests for the sake of betterment is titled 'virtue signalling', this kind of frustrating behaviour that aims to bring down any voice for some kind of betterment is counterintuitive, harmful and regressive.ofcourse I myself have engaged in such behaviour in a variety of situations mostly arising out of a hidden sense of inadequacy. And it becomes easy to justify such behaviour because there are extremists we can point to who deserve it but we assign the title and malice to anyone and everyone advocating for something similar despite the degree,nuances that differentiate them and/or methods applied.

Doing it is virtuous. Announcing it to everyone else for their approval is virtue signaling. This is the basis of the variant of narcissistic personality disorder called communal narcissism. You likely know quite a few people that do charitable, possibly even heroic, acts on a regular basis and you don't even know because they don't feel the need to mention it.

It's because of the saying "when a politician isn't kissing babies, they're stealing their lollipops". Your mindset is very primitive and outdated, and that makes you an easy prey. Kindness was seen as a positive trait where anyone who is kind wouldn't be mean or rude. But once you phase through stages of two faced politicians, you realize that kindness doesn't define a person, but how they approach their message, and most importantly, what message they bring along their kindness. Because whenever someone says they're vegan, they ALWAYS bring it along with "I don't want to be part of the death of animals", which brings the subtext "you should be ashamed of eating meat because animals dying is wrong", so their final subtext that they indirectly imply is "you should be ashamed of yourself even if you did nothing wrong", which is "you should hate yourself even if you did nothing wrong". And that's horrendously contradictory to the kindness you're trying to go along with, because telling people that they should hate themselves is not kindness. Then, with environment awareness the same exact thing happens. "we humans are evil for destroying the environment", so what is? An innocent person, who did nothing wrong, is being told by someone with environmental awareness that "they should hate themselves", which again goes to the contradiction and two-faced situation where they portray themselves as kind, yet they imply violence to other people.

@@graysonplayer10I myself am a non-vegetarian but that doesn't mean that I find someone choosing veganism as virtue signalling they have different priorities and values when they choose their way of life than i do, it is undeniable that veganism is better for the animals and environmentalista are a necessity for future generations to thrive, my personal disinterest on said topics is no excuse to undermine them and their progressive/better philosophies, I place my priorities elsewhere and care not about animal life as compared to flavour (sue me), thus I remain non-vegetarian but I don't refuse that veganism is better for the animals and according to some studies even medically speaking(but this is very subjective depending on conditions it could also be negative), same for environmentalists they are a necessity for the continued flourishing of future generations, it is of vital importance and my own lack of contributions or care is a frankly nauseating reason to put people who do take the extra step down, it is natural to sometimes let insecurity and a sense of inadequacy lead us astray infact this is mentioned in the video and is a personal problem and not the concept or the practitioners responsibility granted that they aren't intentionally and explicitly putting you down, and for the subtexts one I find that dishonest(I do not mean that as an insult nor is my intention to offend, we are all human and make such mistakes in hindsight, I know I have my fair share) the same can be done for anything and everything. for instance , a friend telling me he got into the best college in the nation is a good news and a matter of celebration but I can easily derive from that an intention to rub it in that i am not going to the best college in the nation and this is him boasting about how he is getting ahead in life and so on and so forth, this can be done for most things, someone revealing their vegan or that they are an environmentalist is an expression of their identity in which they take pride in like the student who takes pride in his college but that is not an attack as we do that to, we take pride in expressing things about ourself that we appreciate, this doesn't mean that we are criticizing the other for their lack of what we have is it an attempt to inspire and change someone sure but everything essentially is, let it be the chief guest in a school event or an well to do alumni they all seek to change and there is nothing malicious in that to warrant a hostility or name-calling. Please do not misunderstand I stand right with you that virtue-signalling is very real and unfortunately prevalent, an infuriating example being 'thatveganteacher' but these counterproductive individuals do not compromise the validity of their concepts(veganism) through their personal abnormalities and misguided ways as this is a problem with individuals and not the concept. I agree that these individuals deserve to be called out for the harmful parasites they are but I feel that we have subconsciously associated the virtue signalling beyond the deserved individuals to concepts above them that they misrepresent for instance every vegan is called out for virtue-signalling when all they are doing is choosing a better alternative lifestyle for society that is fueled by their set of ideals and priorities, similarly most prominent environmentists aren't insulting you but urging you to consider their concepts and are more concerned with asking the government for better policies and administrative competence to not negatively impact the lives of the current and those yet to arrive.i take no offense to tearing apart those deserving but as I stated people have gone from bashing those deserving to everyone who lives by that standard, this was also the undeserved punishment that i mentioned originally.

@@second-sense Too many sentences will end up destroying any sense of discussion dude. Veganism is not better for animals. Death is a natural occurrence that is needed for the ecosystem and the food chain. And animals are not inmortal either: eventually they will die. So whether they do on a field, with a bacteria inside their organs eating them up, or in the plate of someone at a restaurant, the result is always the same: animals will die, and they always did, and they always will do, because death is a natural ocurrence of life. Veganism is just thanatophobia, and an ignorant and hypocritical one at that. None of the vegan people even get to realize that their life clock is running over there and will eventually run out. Vegans live under the illusion that they're inmortal; that they will live forever and that's how life works. It doesn't. That's why people's perception of life changes the moment they face a near death experience, or are caught with a deadly disease like cancer: they realize their mortality, such mortality that they ignored all along. Death is a normal ocurrence, but urban people have lived so far away from having to face such subject that they have this illusion that life is eternal. And life IS eternal, but your body isn't. Your body dies, yet these vegans think the death of the body is also the death of their life. Either case, even if humans weren't around, all cows, pigs and chickens would go extinct. They're easy prey, fat, chunky, and would struggle running away from actual threats like lions or wolves. As for environmentalists, you definetly have no political experience. Politicians are always looking for a loophole to lie and abuse the people that vote for them. Climate change was a phenomenom where artificial gases would cover the ozone layer, causing heat to be unable to leave the planet (greenhouse effect). That problem was solved in 2019. Now it's a political tool used for fear mongering. People make stupid decisions when they're scared, so what better way to scare the masses if not by making them believe that the world will end in 2024 (like they said in 2017 and I remember that clearly) unless that we do and follow their specific instructions, which are increasing debt and increasing government spending (which culminates in money laundering) Obviously you're naive to the entire situation because you're an urban flea. You're the kind of person to get scared at the sight of a bee: one of the most sacred forms of life in this world.

I feel like being altruistic is being looked down upon because we get very (and justifiably) 'possessive' of what we can give; think money, some old stuff, etc. Not because we shouldn't, but because we don't necessarily have good faith in where it's going. You wouldn't give someone who purchases unnecessary things in excess some money. And I also feel that we may have demonized the image of "the giver" because so many bad examples attempt virtue-signal or draw attention to themselves rather than act on a principle of benevolence.

Altruistic acts are best left to volunteer charitable acts and not expected. this leads to performative acts of kindness which are disingenuous or coherced acts of kindness which can lead to actual resentment. Its better to just teach our kids to be kind because we never know when we'll need kindness. As an individualist, I never expect charity, I never ask for it, but I was taught to always accept it if I truly need it and be grateful about it. I always do my best to pass it on, the world seems a little brighter when I can make someone's day a little less crappy, having been there before as long as its within my means. How I Grew Up During The 2000's Era. Born From The USA. And My Lack of Political Ideas as a Whole. So, for Me. This story about growing up. I was never a Liberal or Conservative. I am apolitical to political views. I'm a Moderate. The people who are the middle, the average citizen, a bystander. I am not a mouthpiece of social critique. I am social acceptance, peace, compassion, awareness, have limits, and a pampered person, who behaves like a child in mindset. Just because people couldn't vote, stand up for themselves, or have been panicking or cowering in fear, and some even have apathy struggles. That doesn't mean the excuse to blame them, making them into political mascot props or mindless sheep by force. That is just wrong for others doing to these folks. That is like taking away their own rights, and can be against their own will. I can't have any of this! You don't need to be Liberal or Conservative to vote. Most people are on the Moderate side. People who are interested in political views, but, not voting, protesting, or be involved in presidential campaigns. That what political apathy was known for throughout the years. While I do have flaws. I want to be a person to preach as empathy, compassion, care, attention, reasoning, and philosophy over political views. So, there's a reason, why I am a person, living in a childlike fantasy world. I am scared to grow up, forced to be a man. I do want to leave everything about my childish mindset, imagination, creativity, escapism, and innocence as a whole. I need this, as a cope mechanism. For me to handle my own flaws about social experiences, pressure, and help out people and society together. It is okay to still be child and babylike. No matter how old I am! How are the Hippies failures, The people from the McCarthyism era, Nepo Babies, ect. Have been a failure? Why was McCarthyism even been made for? How about MeToo? Or even the Bush Administration? Those my own questions about morality, censorship laws, and my guess here about past generations that came before my own generation. I think McCarthyism, was a critique, a parody of fascism, paranoia, fighting off The Red Scare after all. It was about an analysis about rebellion, questioning about morality, and the fight against tyrannical methods as a whole. By any the means necessary trope. I think, Joseph McCarthy may be a right wing objectivist all along. In a morally grey perspective. Something like Rorschach of Watchmen, V from V For Vendetta. Or something like Frank Castle, The Punisher. A quote from Punisher The End: "The human race. You've seen what that leads to." Speech of dialogue from Rorschach: "This city is afraid of me. I have seen it's true face. The accumulated sins and errors from the CIA, FBI, politicians, and government officials will look up and shout "Save us!"... And I'll whisper "No." Joseph McCarthy is a somewhat mysterious man in his time period in the 1950's. Who had surrendered for his own cause and beliefs, for the world to be witnessing all this. My own version would be like: "All of the people who throw shade at civilians who panicking, or are mocked, bullied, and blamed for no excuse. Just because a crime or incident has happened, there are people who end up throwing shade at anyone for no excuse. Trying to blame civilians, families, elderly, and not caring about society as a whole. Or, they're about say things like "Nobody said anything about it!!" "Because others were afraid, scared to raise their voices, or they stood there but, couldn't do anything but watch." Then, the ones who wrongfully blamed others. They will realize their very own errors and big mistakes for not caring about the defenseless people. They will look up and shout "Save us!"... And I whisper "No." "I'm sorry, I can't do anything but watch". " That's what life is." That is my viewpoint of Objectivism. I will never choose the morally grey path. I prefer to be Moderate Good only. Just an analysis. There is a reason I prefer to side myself with good morals, over grey morality. I only understand good and bad sides only. No grey morality area. I only fight back, if peaceful resolutions fail. I rather have some limits in the moral spectrum. There have been morally grey people, while some are good nobles one in American history. About folks like Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump. During their time as president? Or just because there are wives, children, companions, or relatives to people like Joseph McCarthy, Donald Trump, George W, Bush, and many more figures in history. This doesn't mean to mock, ignore, bully, or judge their own loved ones. That's not okay for me. I would have pity on these people. It's not their fault. As I have noticed, America is not perfect. We all have flaws, even throughout history alike. We all just humans. I know that 911 was a traumatic day the world had witnessed. Yes, I know some people described post-911 as an "angry", "paranoid", and "overly-patriotic" time for America. But films such as Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker, Postal, and God Bless America. To me, it feels like a glorification of the angry or cynical side of America instead of a critique. This rubs me the wrong way. Films like Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, The Book of Henry, and The Goldfinch. Those three films, are a departure from the angry side of post-911 America. The film of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close especially. For the plot, long story short. It's about an autistic child named Oskar. The young protagonist, wants to learn how and why his father passed away during that fateful day. It depicts the the events of 911, through the eyes of a child. I don't think post-911, was always an angry or cynical time. Not all people are like that. Some have become to sensitive, soft, or emotional due to the aftermath of 911. I sometimes struggle to speak up with other people. I don't make sense sometimes, and I do have smarts, confidence, bravery, strength, and passion in myself. I speak up, fight back, or answer when the time comes. In my soul, heart, ideals, spirit, and mind alike. Even in darkest of times. There will always be a path of childlike joy, innocence, strong, and a hopeful time for the world. This is how I remember growing up in the 2000's.

In a post-911 era. I felt sorry for people who are being wrongfully blamed or have witnessed stuff like this. Let me ask something. Just because there are people on the run by the authorities, or the government. That doesn't mean as an excuse to blame, mock, or bully others who witnessed this, the folks who panicked, or that person's own wife, children, friends, or loved ones alike. Or, they're are also blamed for no reason. Worse, they are being used as political mascot props or become mindless sheep. I know there have been situations like this. But some people say things such as: "There's a crime or person on the run by authorities. Yet, nobody said anything about it!!" Or like "Oh no! Some person is on the run by authorities or is accused of being a criminal. Let's pretend that this person's loved ones aren't in my sight. I never saw anything!" See right there. That is selfish right there when some people act like that. How is panicking or running to safety a cowardly thing? How is that neglectful? And, how is not being able to do anything about an incident as selfish? How?! This makes no sense to me. Not everybody can help themselves, or forge their own destinies. If someone throws shade at me, for defending the weak or timid civilians. I don't care if some wrongfully blame me for this. I care. To help out others. I care about humanity and society as a whole. I refuse to badmouth the weak, shy, timid, or people running in fear. I will stand by them. It's not their own doing. There have been criminal incident or emergency situations that happened before. I witnessed sometimes like this. But if I am being blamed for no reason. Do what the folks blaming the vulnerable and defenseless civilians. That's not going to be defenseless civilians or observing bystander fault. That's on them. The people who throw shade at the defenseless or soft citizens. Are the ones going to regret and pay the consequences. Like these people don't care about anything, or have lost in touch with reality. What is wrong with people saying stuff like this?! Civilians, children, and many people do matter. If I have witnessed someone on the run by the authorities. And this person's loved ones, and friends are being blamed, mocked, or bullied alike, for no reason. I would care for those people who end up like that. Children, families, and civilians do matter. Even if they are relatives of those who are prosecuted by authorities or the government. That's not an acceptable thing to put the blame on them too. They aren't to blame at all. They are only human. We are all just humans after all.

I’m guilty of feeling the urge to punish a good person sometimes… and I believe it kinda stemmed from all those times I tried to improve myself and ended up “failing”(making a mistake), and feeling bitter when I see others doing it seemingly effortlessly. I’m working on getting rid of those thoughts though

@@Justii218 Not necessarily. It's also a good thing to reward good people, but it shouldn't be why they are doing good things. Reward is a bonus not the goal. People doing good things are rewarded or should be to prevent them being rewarded for being exploitative or opportunistic because being bad is rewarding too, most people don't do bad things without a reward afterall only truly bad people do so. The middle people simply seek where there is reward and their morals tend to go with it.

I find putting any amount of serious effort into being a good person a dubious endeavor considering both good and bad are very subjective and the lack of reward for it as spoken about in the video. I can only assume one would pursue it because of idealisms... which is tragic because those ideals are the product of indoctrination in the first place.

I almost always acted miserable in school, not because i was, but rather that i had a feeling someone would make me out of jealousy if i did not. Little did everyone know, despite being alone I did not feel lonely as i was better off entertaining myself than joining the gossiping as the number 1 entertainment in schools. No one really hated me as a result, but it has been difficult to find someone to relate as a consequence.

This is why I act slightly like a careless jerk when offering support. Instead of saying "I help you", I focus on the "This needs to be done and I have free time, so let's get this done with already". On the other hand, when I'm doing work interactions like a job interview, talking to colleagues, doing presentations, or doing anything related to work, I activate the "nice and polite guy" persona. I'm getting paid for it, so people understand the reasoning.

I didn't realize how atypical I was until I saw a lot of these videos. It has never once occurred to me that someone's kindness and generosity should be frowned upon. Not once have I wanted to cause harm to someone, who might objectively be worse off than I am!? This how "people" think... wtf is wrong with you, seriously? I genuinely don't understand these thinking patterns. It's actually quiet scary, knowing this is how most operate. This explains why I'm confused most of the time.

When someone is very generous, it often feels like there's an ulterior motive... and there often is, even if neither side is aware of it at first. I've been on both sides of the equation. At the time, I may give generously without expecting anything in return. If I don't see any form of validation though, or if one day, it turns into "but what have you done for me LATELY?", I feel taken advantage of. I won't tell someone they owe me, but I'll think it, subconsciously. If they then treat me poorly or act unfair, it hits me 10x harder. Maybe, having a giving nature isn't quite so healthy and honest as I thought.

If someone doesn't need your kindness, it's okay to step back and if they do, they will come to you. Genuine altruists will always value your efforts. For instance, when you volunteer, people in that space usually appreciate your kindness. However, in environments like work or school, it may go unnoticed because not everyone there shares selfless intentions. So, be kind, but don't force it, and never let a lack of appreciation discourage you. Stay positive and keep spreading kindness.

ive watched a video from PhychHacks (i believe thats the name, btw the youtuber is a licensed phychologist) about how kindness is actually a power dynamic between the adored and the adorer. Some people are uncomfortable with such a difference (which can suggest authority) while others demand it. It can explain why overly kind people can be judged as egoistic rather than selfless. and personally it also gives way to some "antisocial" behaviours such as teasing and vulgarity... its more relatable for people who see it as normal.

Usually, when i help people, i ask first if they need some help... Also, i never tried to shadow others even when i too, being human, feel envy of their success, it's hard to fight it, but when i do, i just go out, buy a drink that i like, sit in my chair with the drink and think about it... Honestly, i ended up asking myself what the heck i was thinking, because that is not how should i think about close people around me. But i noticed something about the envy... No one likes to be left behind, if someone close is succesful in life and you don't, i think the fear of being left behind and they forgot about you is kinda understandable...

It's all part of the three poisons of the mind "Anger, Greed and Ignorance", everything else is a mix of these three factors. People are jealous because they hate being inferiour, have an absurd amount of greed for what they don't have and are ignorant of the fact that the hapiness they seek so much isn't associated to what others have or achieved, but it lies on our own development and the things we take for granted.

Why are you using altruism as a synonym for kindness? They are basically opposites. Altruism is a philosophy of obligation to give away all extra resources, and that its evil to keep anything for yourself beyond what you need to survive. Kindness is a choice to do what isn't required or expected of you. The video seems to be about kindness, so I'd like to believe this is a mistake.

Hence why I hesitate to write stuff I volunteer for on base in "bullets" like everybody else. Makes it less genuine when I actually do something, which is usually multiple hours, multiple times a week. Potluck at the chapel? Cook before, clean after. I even remember there was this one chick who was vice president of a group and was upset at the president, then later on I see the president wheeled one of his mustang tires into the lobby since it got slashed. They also really wanted me to join the group. I'm 31, I don't have the time for this highschool drama.
