I’m noticing a lot of mappers, including myself, are reporting their mount setups dropping from 4/4 to 2/4 all of a sudden. No changes to mount. My mount literally looks identical to the example they show of a good setup and has been a 4/4 since day 1 of this rating system. Something is definitely up with this camera mount AI trainer but they don’t acknowledge it. My confidence in the Hivemapper team has been dwindling over the last couple months to say the least.

Yea I feel like they should do manual reviews for the 2/4 and 1/4 ratings until they can get any kinks out of their AI trainer. Especially since they’re bragging about how few of them there are

What other problems have you been experiencing? I was with HELIUM HNT and they were doing everything wrong and continue to disappoint to this day, with constant rule changes, which do not take into account what people have invested in hardware or setups. I feel with any of these mining projects a loss of trust is when things will start to go bad. after all a crypto project is trust-based first.

@@ScottDieken apparently if you’re running a front and side dashcam, your side cam is now taking a hit in rewards because the front cam registered the hex first. Not sure if this is the case but there are numerous complaints about this on their Discord recently.

Thanks for the video man something is going on I've been with hive mapper for over a year. And ever since January of this year my rewards have changed but ever since this mounting issue has been implemented it's been really strange. I've been sitting on a 4 and I didn't change nor touch my camera and then all of a sudden I dropped down to a 2. I think there are more people less than a 4 that the data shows it's very strange!

I also wanted to add this. A month or so ago back when the honey was good, I got an app for gos mapping. I mapped out roads in my region that had never been store. Most were dirt country roads. I did this for 8 hours a day and did it every day. So it was 56 hours worth. Couldn’t wait to see what it was going to be. And that’s when it started. I only made $300 that week. Something is up. Not sure if we getting skimmed from the top or what. But there is something going on for sure.

It does seem odd indee. I know they removed the 1 Honey bonus per 1 km unmapped roads you map awhile back, which obviously hurts actively mapping those unmapped roads. I think MIP14 is also having a big impact in a lot of regions

Thanks for putting this out. I'm seeing a massive drop in rewards! I now have 2 cams and now earning less then when I had 1. Also finding that for example the forward facing cam is getting half the amount of images as the side facing one. Just to note these are both HDC cams. Question, how did you improve your rating? I'm currently a 3

They have directions on their website on how to properly mount your dashcam, so check that out. But really I have found it comes down to getting the best view of the road as possible.

Still wondering how you can trust someone (read Ariel) who advocates sustainability and only cuts in earnings of the drivers. No single change or MIP did any cut in tokens that are being unlocked or earned by HM as operational rewards. It all come to the shoulders of the contributors.

Ariel and his minions are manipulating the token rewards so we don't earn as much. He was asked, "How much does it bother you that people were making $1k a week driving for hivemapper?" HIs answer was, "a lot". It's been screenshotted on Discord. He doesn't want us to make any money so they reduced rewards by 80-90% the last couple of months but of course their rewards will not be reduced like us contributors. Unless you drive 1600km/1000 miles a week then I would ask for a refund.

@@garykostelec1327 Its your decision man. I can only recommend to ask yourself a question. How will this project make money without people buying their "camera recorders", I am guessing they won't, so when the demand for their hivemappers will go down so will the project value go down. If you are an early adopter the more people buy into this idea the better. You are guaranteed to get rich and you want for this project to stay afloat. But just so you know the more people buy into this the pie slice (rewards) will get smaller unless project will increase their revenue somehow (more people buy into this or they make this project profitable, i guess they want to sell the data, but the underlying problem with it is that who will want such data when they can just gather their own higher quality and more specific data ?)

Call me a conspiracist , but it sounds like they "may" have updated the software to make the old mapper less able to process the images to force people to buy the Bee. It would be interesting to get a survey of those running them now, what their rewards were and now are, and compare those with the old one and the new bee one and see if theres any corelation. Ordered the old one in Feb, doubt it will be here till Oct/Nov. If I change to the bee , I get to keep my place in the queue.. but the queue has just moved further away as they dont start shipping to Q3, so probably March-April time.

To me it's kind of like a Ponzi scheme - first thing, they charge you 500$ for a dashcam which capabilities are comparable to a 50$ phone. Then, how do they pay 1k$ monthly to every one of 130k mappers? That's 130 million dollars - which company would pay them that much for the "mapping data" even if you mapped the whole world with it? Companies like Google could as well spend a million dollars on every country per month to deploy a car with a team and map the whole country instead of paying mappers. And the companies are actually not interested in doing so - Google is just satisfied with refreshing their street view data only just every couple years. So... I smell a Ponzi scheme here that is just about to crash. Good for those that got in early!

I prefer uploading to Mapillary, there is no reward and the company is now owned by facebook. But if you check mapillary on the web you can view a low quality point cloud. Pretty cool. If this company offered things other then just street view itd be lit. Also not a fan of restriction of compatible cameras if it's a lenses with gps and other meta data it should count. Ideally I'd like to see mapillary and/or this use drone imagery. Also lest see a open source dense point cloud. I'd just like a easy way to be able to use my phone to help improve datasets like topography and find the ground truth of objects like mapillary tries todo. So it suggests things for OpenStreetMap. Cesium now supports google earth's 3d tiles in the unreal so you can have google earth in unreal engine pretty lit. I'd like to see a opensource google earth type 3d tiles created from a open source point cloud created by open source imagery. One thing that does bother me is when I download a image that I previously uploaded to mapillary it doesnt have the metadata so I cant slap it in reality capture I had to take new imagery so it was geo referenced.
