I bought 3 Suhr JM Pros and I'm think I like having the same guitar with different pickups more than a bunch of guitars of all different types.

You're absolved, HW - those are FANTASTIC axes with awesome pickups. Cheers!

I laughed out loud when he said..."not only have I shown significant business use for these 3 JM Pros, which I can now write off on my taxes...(pause) but also, pickups matter" haha! Cool video HW!! And the guitars are definitely write-off-able now haha! I think I like the blue one best.

I‘m playing the gold one for 2+ years now and it became my number 1 guitar, and you are right, the vocal midrange thing is what makes this guitar special.

Considering grabbing one locally but I gotta sell a few other guitars. Seeming like I won't regret it though 🤔

I think the gold one is my fave. Seems to have the most to offer in comparison to the other two. Blue has that nice jangle and silver is sweet and warm. But Goldie II has both in a good balance.

Great video!! Thanks so much! You basically solved this age-old question of S90 vs SSV vs TB .. just get one of each! 👌🏼

First off HW, lemme say… love your stuff bro! I got the “everything pack” from you (I have the full fledged HELIX) and love it! I am never letting it go! Second, I am def gonna get a Suhr JM but also have Suhr make me a custom wired pickguard to swap out the usual one so I can get more sounds out of it.

Great video, thank you. I love how you approach this, very detailed and technical, but also, at the end of the day, how much do these little things actually matter, and how much does it have to do with how we feel about it while playing. For me, my go to guitar is the Tele, it just feels right to me and it has plenty of tonal options. Or it feels like home as you say. Then I listened to your previous vid and I was like, man, those sound amazing, especially the thornbuckers. But again, how much is it about the slight change in compression or EQ curve of the pickup, how much is it how it reacts to the profile, what you are playing, and so on. All good stuff. I would have loved for you to trick us in the end and just show some examples playing one guitar, while listening to a clip from another, just to illustrate the point. I doubt anyone would notice, particularly with the humbuckers.

The situation in which one can tell the differences between pickups (on the same style guitar) most readily is one in which they’re heard at the same time. It would be nice to double track rhythm guitars, for instance, with blue/P90s on one side and gold/Thornbuckers on the other.

Great sounding guitars (and tasteful playing!). I have a basic Kemper question for you though in regards to volume settings that I'm hoping you will answer. I've always noticed my Kemper sounds better and more full sounding when I plug in to the headphone jack on the kemper. But when I plug the kemper into my audio interface from the main output jacks, the volume seems unusually low. So today, I looked in the output section (clicked on the output button) and I see that the headphone volume was set to 0db. But the monitor and main volume were both at -8.2 db. I never adjusted these, although a friend of mine who is a more experienced Kemper user, may have changed things when he was helping me get to know the kemper. But the low volume level thing always bothered me. So I just want to ask, is the default setting for the main and monitor volume supposed to be set to -8.2 db while the headphone is at 0db or should they all be set to 0db in the output section? I'm curious how you have your levels set so that I can have the levels set correctly and I'm hoping also that from the rig to rig, that there is an easy way to keep a consistent level when switching from rig to rig, (although I guess it'd be nice to be able to boost things during a solo so not sure if there's a best way of being able to do that). Thanks in advance for any info, sorry if it doesn't quite relate to the topic of your video above.

I really like silver lately for some reason I mean even regarding pedals. Plus, I love the hbs. It’s really nice. The gold too. Enjoy. Maybe try the Doug Aldrich pups lol that would be too high gain for what you need. I love them.

I heard a podcast where you and Sooze were both going to get your Suhrs fixed here in Nashville. Was that a toggle switch issue? I have a new JM Pro and have had a tuff time getting the neck Pup to work.

I like the gold one. It’s funny, HW keeps buying guitars (It makes sense for him to buy them as he uses them to test his packs) and I’m down to 1 electric and 1 acoustic. I had 8 electrics. I just realized for me, I only played one electric so it was pointless to let the other ones collect dust.

I’m partial to P90s. That being said, the gold and silver do a fine job of “cutting.” But for my taste, the question is “how?” I love how P90s are like a beefy single coil and an underdog humbucker at the same time. Scrappy little PUs. 💪🏻

@@stephenboutwell1012 You summed up a P90 quite well. They are the best of both worlds in my opinion. In this case the Blue Jm with the S90's sounds spectacular!
