Part of the reason for that "special - filmic look" is the dual gain sensor (beware: not dual ISO!) resulting in a very pleasing gamma cuve and color rendition. A Sensor technology Canon seems to be very proud of in since their C300 Mk3 and marketing it as something new or innovative (LOL). And the same technology that ARRI uses with their ALEXA sensors. That's the reason why the OG BMPCC pairs so well with Alexa and was used as a cheap C-Cam/Action-Cam for films like Avengers, Dont Breathe and Logan. Black Magic Micro Cinema Camera and the original Black Magic Cinema Camera (2,5K) share the same dual gain technology by the way. The Micro even has the exact same sensor but with 60p support.

Tremendously useful and extremely wide 6mm Kowa machine vision lens. On the Pocket, 2.7x 6 makes it ~ 17mm in 135 format FF terms. The weak point of small sensor cameras is the ultra wide angle. This particular lens will provide much better quality results to sensors that are larger than in the gopro type cams and leave gopro for dead. Since it successfully covers the GH4 sensor in video mode, it covers more than the advertised 1 inch sensor. The crop factor on the GH4 in video mode is 2.3x, not 2x, as in still 4:3 mode on most m4/3 sensors. Hyperfocal distance is very close at F5.6 allowing infinity and one metre or so to be in focus. NO twiddling focus! No searching by AutoFocus that breaks the connection between viewer and subjects. A real run and gun lens! Screws can lock down the focus and aperture, useful for remote use etc. Internal focus, less breathing effect. Lens length remains the same. Aperture is composed of 5 leaves. They are of an interesting shape. They form a star at F1:2.8 which reverts to pentagon at smaller stops. This is visible in a flare of one of the videos. One issue with this lens is the lack of a filter ring. There is a thread, but it seems to be squeezed by a retaining ring that probably keeps in the large convex first lens. Clamp on rings, 54mm diameter, are advised. Or perhaps a step up ring 52mm dia, will work? I may get around to looking into this myself as I have some, but illness prevents. Step up to say 77mm from 52mm would be best as the lens protrudes and is unprotected. Advise a Matte box for filters. vimeo.com/103893379 vimeo.com/76746701 vimeo.com/410038656 vimeo.com/87430472 vimeo.com/76793104 kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2HQnJRvqtqgoc0 kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHqvaJxsfqeqhM0 kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2jCgaiPosSthdk kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnioh5yCmdqliq8 kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqLJcmCcr61ge7c kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZzMYqOals6bkLs kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHqvaJxsfqeqhM0rel=0 kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpywZoagn5eXsKs kzbin.info/www/bejne/kH-9pIOLd690eKM kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKq2mqSbbtN0m6s

@PRIVATE perhaps you’re judging what I need and don’t need based on your own work and your own experience. I need IBIS because I shoot s lot of handheld, I’ve had to learn to “fake” slo-mo because my GH2 doesn’t do full HD 60fps... if I had IBIS this would make my life so much easier. I also need a solid photo camera for various photography projects and using stills from screen grabs won’t cut it... that might work for you and those who suggested this and more power to y’all but that won’t work for me. There are other things about the pocket cinema that aren’t necessarily deal breakers but are annoying nonetheless, like ergonomics... no flip screen... terrible battery life... all the good things it does have don’t outweigh the bad. I am a one man band and I have to film myself making things and it’s the little things like a flip screen can make your workflow so much easier. Like I said, I feel like you judged me and my needs based on your own needs and experience, which may or may not be completely different from mine.

Not a fan of the OG?
@whatsupdate3 жыл бұрын
@@Ansonandco does the OG even come with DiVinci Resolve? I just think in the price difference between OG and 4K you get a lot more with 4K. I have a lot of 16mm film lenses Id love to use with the OG but I think even for that the 4K could do the job as well or better.

use it as a A cam to see how it works for real and we see the results

That lens is 75mm equivalent on the pocket. Pretty bad choice for a "filmmaker."
@Ansonandco3 жыл бұрын
How so? You aren’t comfortable shooting telephoto?
@liquidmocofilmsllc49153 жыл бұрын
@@Ansonandco No because that pocket cinema will be strapped to a tripod the whole time!! If you know anything about the pocket, then you will know what I am referring to. If you don't, why don't you use the camera more before giving bogus info.
@Ansonandco3 жыл бұрын
Ok so not even addressing the ability to have stable footage at 72mm (2.88 crop not 3x) while shooting handheld, if the project calls for a tripod then it calls for a tripod. If it calls for a shoulder rig then you’re using a shoulder rig. If you had said this about something ACTUALLY telephoto then I might understand but 72mm is VERY short telephoto. Stay tuned I’m bringing you a 35 f0.95 soon... But please tell me which lens I should be using for this camera
@MarcSwan3 жыл бұрын
@@liquidmocofilmsllc4915 so you mean to tell me that cinematographers and AC’s that make six figure salaries several times a year are wrong for shooting shoulder mounted or handheld on longer focal lengths? There’s magic in handheld telephoto. Insane compression and DoF. Not to mention the more organic vibe to it, rather than clinical precision and smoothness. You should try it, sometime. Maybe it’s not your style, but it’s incredibly ignorant to suggest what kind of choice it is, while insinuating Anson’s not a film maker because of that choice. The beauty of film making magic lies in the unconventional choices that are made. Otherwise everything would be stale and very much the same.

True words! Telephoto work is some of my favorite. Being able to capture details or really isolate a subject is priceless. Yea the BMPCC suffer from really bad rolling shutter and so you gotta be careful to not make it look like jell-o but if you can pull it off it is very pleasing.
