Thanks dude! I’m a bmpcc4k user but I still have my first og. Soon I’ll be on a trip and because I saw this video I decided to bring my og with me and see how it works. Cheers from Argentina. 😊

Will absolutely love the channel. Recently purchased a black magic og and I didn’t get the name of the cage you mentioned ? I’m trying to piece out my magic soon.
@WillvonTagen2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Wooden Camera is the brand I recommend most-and try to find one with “cable locks.” Small Rig also made a similar one. They can be tough to find now, but worth it. Beyond that-remember the cage is meant more for attaching elements and not for actual protection, so no need to go crazy looking for a cage that encases the whole camera.

@@WillvonTagen Wow Will thank you for the reply and yes, just looking for a cage that so I can build a decent run and gun type rig. It is hard finding those original smallrig cages. I’ll look into the one you mentioned and I’ll try to find some universal type of cages. Any recommendations for viewfinders ? Thanks for the help man, This is the best channel on blackmagics and filmmaking, keep up the great work my friend!

Hi Will, just discover your channel so inspirational for a beginner of BMPCC OG like me! Would to ask you: which case are you using? I don't find anything similar. It seems every kind of cage for the BMPCC OG has been discontinued! Can you help me please?
@WillvonTagen2 жыл бұрын
I like the cage from wooden camera. They are difficult to find but still show up on eBay for $100 every so often-you just have to wait and check often. I don’t know if anyone still makes a new cage, you will unfortunately more than likely need to buy a used one.

I wish you luck with that. I bought three of these cameras when they first came out. You could find great options for them back then. I bought Tilta cages and such and I don't regret it. These will be very hard to find now but you might try Ebay because someone out there wants to upgrade and blow out their old stuff. Personally, I will never part with my BMPCCs. The image quality cannot be replicated.

For sure! I have developed a cage that is now for sale. Check it out at www.BMPCC-og.com 👍🏻

how about wide angle c mount lenses. There are some super cheap ones out there that give a nice vintage look!

Could work but the Laowa is a better investment if you end up moving to other MFT systems.

I suppose you could but the file size is enormous. While it's still my number one camera for my cooking videos I think a mobile phone is just fine for vlogging. Don't get me wrong - you would have vastly superior images and color grading options to boot.
@WillvonTagen2 жыл бұрын
It certainly wouldn't be my first choice either, but it is an option. Thanks for watching!

Dear Will, I've been following your channel for a while and since you're a bmpcc og fan and expert, I just wanted to ask you a question. I'm going to buy a budget used camera for filmmaking (shorts, documentaries, or even features), but I'm willing to use the camera to shoot stock footage as well. So, do you think I should by bmpcc og, or some other budget camera like Sony a6300 which can shoot 4k footage, slomo and so on. I will really appreciate it if you can give me advice on this matter. Thanks a lot
@WillvonTagen Жыл бұрын
I really think it depends on your main goal. If your primary purpose is to shoot and sell stock footage I would get the Sony because 4K and “Slow motion“ shots will sell much more than HD at 24fps. But if your main goal is short or feature films I think the OG makes a prettier image than Sony. I also think on set it is easier to work with and is a true “cinema camera” with regards to settings. Have you also considered the BMPCC4k? That might be better for documentary work as it is very useful for run-and-gun situations.

Any recommendations if you already have a metabones 0.58 speedbooster and you want image stabilization? I found the Cannon 24mm IS USM lens, but I'm not sure if there a wider EF lens with image stabilization. On the audio side - have you experimented with line level sources? I'm wondering if a preamplified signal like the line out from a zoom F3 would sound any better in camera.
@WillvonTagen2 жыл бұрын
For a lens, look at the Canon 17-55 2.8 IS. Much cheaper and lighter than the 16-35 with longer reach but with very good results. Re: audio-from what I understand when you run through a preamplification device/recorder and back in to camera the results are quite good. I didn’t test it here because my goal was to keep it minimal but I think you would have good luck with that.
@JosephElsherbini2 жыл бұрын
@@WillvonTagen Update that I did buy the Cannon 17-55 2.8 IS, thanks for the recommendation! You have to pull out a plastic bit at the end of the lens to get it on the speedbooster, but it wasn't too hard to do.

Shout out to the Laowa 6mm f/2 lens. Cine version is good for BMPCC only, but the stills only version is very usable and has electronic aperture control.
