Radiation protection is poor, and... but with all these, I love it! I love images, videos, decision making, looking for piece of puzzles and helping patients and my colleagues by doing this. 3 things you have in common with Dr. Celline 1. The main thing we have in common is that we love medicine but we wanted to get away from the stress of medicine on the wards and dealing with all that busyness and stress. So I decided on this calmer area because then we can sit down, read the study and figure things out in a calm and controlled environment. 2. We want to specialize in the whole body and not just focus on one section of the body. 3. And because I am very friendly and would love to talk to other doctors from other fields of medicine and be very good colleagues for different situations. Merelyne Mendoza

Very interesting! I never considered radiology until I realize that I like looking at imaging while studying for step 1 and it dawned on me that I never explored this field yet! NO PAPER WORK?...that's a huge plus. My friend's aunt is a radiologist and she gets to work from home, which is also a plus. I always loved ANATOMY TOO!, One of the big reason I went into medical school! hmmm...now you have me considering...Thanks for the video!

You’re one of the only doctors on KZbin that is a radiologist, so it’s nice to get your perspective. Those pros are great, but the one con that I can think of that out weighs the pros is the lack of patient interaction. Even though I’m introverted, I would prefer to interact with patients and other physicians. Can you speak a bit about that aspect of the job?
@CuriousEM5 жыл бұрын
You could always pursue interventional radiology for the patient contact.
@fredwinslow7445 жыл бұрын
You can have plenty of patient interaction and collegial tech and other staff contact is always there. You can up or down the volume on that It’s not a job in a “dark room “. Fortunately not enough Med students figure this out and that’s good

I don't see AI overtaking anytime sooner. You know what happened to radiologists with the technology boom? It makes your work way easier that other doctors want you to see more images lol. Radiology call can be very bad, and you are basically working nonstop because you have so much work to do. AI will definitely help take the burden down. And radiologists have some sort of patient contact, not much as other docs but fair amount. Also, there is the liability issue. In the end you need doctors to oversee the cases for double check. Sure, pay will go down, but radiology will still make tons of money. I can definitely see nurses getting replaced though. Biggest threat for rads are outsourcing where people will read images for much cheaper price. Already happening

AI can’t even read an ekg and we got people in here saying it’s gonnna take over radiology lmao

I've been a radiologist since 97 and still work full time. For the most part, it is a great job. He gave all good reasons to like radiology but it is not necessarily a chill job. In my last job, working in a hospital, I had a lot of cases to read and was continuously interrupted by phone calls, techs, nurses etc. I don't mind that but it kept getting busier and busier over the years and became really stressful. There are about 27,000 radiologists in the US right now and there are 14,000 job openings!! Yikes, that means that the rads working now are doing all of that extra work. Burn out rates are very high in radiology for that reason.
