Maybe it's the Hispanic in me that's outrage at this small bit in your story (which is not even part of the story xD). But hey, at least you had a wonderful time at Disneyland while your petty friends time at their prom. This is why I believe in karma: what goes around, comes around. I never went to my high school prom because I got suspended and had too many detentions, I wasn't the best teenager =c.

The only prom I ever went to was my senior prom.... and it was horrible. I cried. I not only cried, I had to be escorted away from the other students because I was just so overwhelmed with this crushing, suffocating despair knowing that I wasn't ever going to be good enough. The prom itself was...meh... (music was about the same as the type described in the video) but what had upset me so much was how my low self esteem finally got the better of me. I remember how before arriving at the prom I thought I looked beautiful! I wore a beautiful yet simple teal dress, and my mom put my hair in curls and gave me the tiara part of her wedding veil. The tiara had flowers all over it; it was essentially a metallic flower crown. I probably looked like a fairy, or a princess. The issue was that as soon as I set foot out of my dad's car and saw the other girls at the prom, all that pride I had in my appearance (for once) was immediately gone. It felt like I was a troll trying to fit in with queens. I didn't hate the other girls, because it wasn't like there was a competition, but .. I dunno... i suddenly felt so hideous, despite my friends trying to reassure me. Of course then I felt like I was a burden, like I was ruining my friends' prom experience because they were all worried and upset for me. I never had a whole lot of self confidence, and I still dont. But I will never forget that night where every thought in my mind became consumed with this screaming, dizzying reminder that I was the pathetic, that I was ugly, that all my effort to look beautiful was for nothing, because it paled in comparison to the way every other girl's dress sparkled, or how every other girl's face was perfectly highlighted, or how I had chosen to arrive alone to prom as opposed to arriving with friends or with a date. The only highlight of that evening was the time spent with my dad and my sister as we went out for donuts to celebrate the fun I was going to have at the prom later... As a joke, I like to refer to the dress that I wore to the prom as "the cursed dress." It feels deserved. Maybe I should burn the thing so I don't have to be reminded of my prom experience every time I open my closet. Don't go to prom if you don't want to, kids. I could talk and talk about how soul-crushing mine was, and not just because I felt like I was ugly. Either way, don't think you have to gojust because pop culture romanticizes it. Do something that you know you'll enjoy, instead.

I know a girl who went with her school to a bowling and laser tag place instead of going to prom. They all went in their dresses, heels, suits, and they played laser tag and had pizza. That sounds like so much more fun than going to a dance.

Two reasons I didn't go to my senior prom. 1. I am a big introvert. 2. I wasn't brainwashed with teen dramas growing up. Like seriously, the idea of prom made me dread it, so even though the one girl friend I had wanted me to go, I was like, "Nope. Not even for the food." It just didn't appeal to me.

Disneyland instead of prom sounds awesome. If I didn't live in Idaho I would have asked my mom to do that. I never went to any high school dances, mostly because I'd rather that money have been spent on stuff my family actually needed or something that seemed more fun. I guess that says something about me if I had rather spent the night hanging out with my mom than a bunch of annoying teenagers.

Wow that sounds like the worst prom ever. I'm homeschooled so I've only ever been to church prom, and even if I went to a public school I probably wouldn't have gone to a school prom because they sound aweful. I highly inticipated prom the first year, the guy I was majorly crushing on asked me to go with him, my mom spent hours on my hair and makeup, and I had fun. My second prom I almost didn't want to go to but I actually had more fun than the first year, I didn't have a date and the guy I went with the first time was then my ex-boyfriend and recently ex-friend too so I spent the night half avoiding him (just seeing his face made me angry at the time) and half just having a ton of fun with one of my BFFs.

Ah, school dances. I went to one in Middle-School. Never again. There was a chain of 20 (no, seriously) people dry humping each other like they were in a friggin conga line. 12 and 13 year olds... yeah. I left right after that. And I skipped my High-School dances too. Too many drinks, drugs, and drama, especially at Prom. At least my Grad-Nite (that's how they advertised it, I know it's spelled wrong) was fun. Disneyland for 10 whole hours, and the last 3 were just for the Seniors. No drama whatsoever. Though, I think that's because all the sane people mutually decided to skip Prom and go for Grad-Nite. Long story short, TL;DR If you have a shred of doubt for any of your school dances... don't be afraid to skip them. Go for events you know you'll be comfortable with.

I didn't go to my high school prom either. I went to school with those people. I sure as heck didn't want to be associated with them _in_ school so why would I want to be associated with them _outside_ of school? At the high school that I went to, the Freshmen had to raise money for the Senior's prom. Unfortunately, the incoming Freshmen class stole all the money they raised. In response, the school said they would allow the prom to be held in the gym, but that our class would have to raise our own money for refreshments and decorations. My Senior class called BS on that and used the money they raised themselves to host a prom at a fancy hotel...without any supervision whatsoever. Long story short, from what I heard later, the police ejected party-goers and many of the people who rented rooms there for fighting, drinking, and doing drugs. That Monday I was one of the few people who didn't have to do a "I don't remember that, but I'm sorry" apology tour or have to play the "How Many of You Did I Bang?" game. Oh, and a bunch of them did a dine and dash thing that ended up on the news too so...there was that.

I went to my senior prom but didn’t enjoy it fully. The place was warm because the air conditioning when out the morning of it, not enough space to sit or really to walk, the place was changed since the original place flooded. We also didn’t get to chose our theme since some junior girl wanted masquerade to be the theme for their senior prom and that no one helped decorate for the prom the year before. I never heard that they were looking for juniors to help decorate for the prom the year I was a junior or I would have helped. Also all of us seniors made and signed a petition to let us vote for our theme, but we still got stuck with the 1920s. We also got a new principal my senior year. Not many people we dressed for the prom theme. I had more fun goin to eat, take photo and kill time at a park before prom. Our limo driver actually drove us to the state park that’s in our county where we made up a horror story where he was the killer. My date and me were the only ones to survive. There were four couples in total even though my prom date and me weren’t actually a couple. I’m just glad I didn’t spend a ton of money on prom. One of the other girl’s, in our group, father paid for the limo, so we on,y had to tip him. My date bought our tickets, I tipped the limo driver for me and her, my dress was a David’s bridal evening gown I got for $10 then fitted for $20 because it was a size to big. My mom paid for the flowers we were on our wrists, forgot how to spell what they are, and I paid for my own food even though my date’s mom offered to pay for me. My date’s mom and another one of the girl’s mom took our photos. I also got all my prom jewelry for $11 thanks to a gift card and coupon I had and i got my shoes on sale. I also did my own hair, makeup and nails. I don’t regret goin, but I wish it was better. I still have my prom dress and shoes, I hate the shoes because they gave me a lot of blisters, and now questioning if my dress still fits after 4yrs come April. Also hears a tip for finding a nice dress for cheap, check goodwill, my $10 David’s bridal evening gown came from goodwill. It was in great condition, and it was worth the $20 to get it fitted since it was slightly to big, the dresses that were a size smaller were to small.

The only dance I've went to is my partners school prom. It was at a very small venue (there wasn't really that many people so eh). In comparison to other dances I've head about, the one I attended was pretty tame. Ofc you had the humping pile (There was a line of girls grinding on each other)but really, besides that it was okay. The music was alright, but the one time they played a song my group asked for, pretty much everyone stepped off the dance floor. Besides that, I really enjoyed the video! The art looks very lovely as well!

At my sixth grade end of year dance they had the music videos on and it was like mostly pop music so basically they were playing all This uncensored music while a screen shows girls twerking for our sixth grade dance. It was weird as heck. Another thing is that you could do whatever you wanted because they couldn’t even call our parents so people just did what they pleased.

Im in 7th grade and I've went to two school dances. Both of them were in my crowded cafeteria meant for about 130 kids, and there was a bunch of kids there. There were like no places to sit unless you wanted to go to the gym and get hit by sport kids' basketballs. It was really hot and all the music was aimed towards black/somewhat hood kids. Kids were stuck together doing stuff like "grinding." I shit you not the DJ looked as if he was done with the kids. There was at least food but like it was very overpriced.

I went to senior prom with a good friend and we had fun just sitting at the table eating and listening to the music. I'm scared of being crowded around because of an event that happened when I was in middle school and my friend understood that so he didn't mind sitting at the table and basically hanging out at the table talking with our friends. The only annoying thing was sitting at the table with the person that bullied me. Other than that I had a good time, got some photos with a really good friend of mine that I keep in contact with as well as with my date. Really a night to remember for me.

My prom was alright. I actually wore a red and white suit to it because I don't really feel comfortable in dresses (a lot of my "friends" and even my mother told me "you can't do that you HAVE to wear a dress" despite how many times I told them I didn't like prom dresses and how they made me feel uncomfortable). I was originally going to get a jumpsuit, but none of the ones I liked fit me properly so I got separates. I actually got wedge heeled shoes to wear so I was able to dance longer than most of the other girls and when I pointed out why they said "that's smart." I ended up dancing with some of the teachers because I was THAT student, lol. The prom actually took place in Disney so afterwards a bunch of my "friends" decided to hang out in Downtown Disney before it close (they didn't invite me). The one thing that stressed me out about prom was that you had to get there before a certain time because all of the students were piled onto buses to be taken into Disney and if you arrived late you wouldn't be able to enter. Also some kids got mad because this meant no limo arrivals but eh *shrug.* They tried to play the song "Low" but they cut it off half way through because I think people were getting "too" into it. Also I saw a girl with an extremely skimpy dress despite the tight rules and regulations the teachers tried to put forth. Overall it was nice, just a little vanilla.

My prom was eh, it was at a university banquet hall that was crazy far(8 miles away from our hs). The food was very plain and salty. The music was all generic white trash, the cha cha slide was played 5 times and Calvin Harris songs ONLY. There was no slow music at mine either. I didn't even want to go to my prom, but since I was part of my senior activities committee which planned the prom, I wouldn't have to pay for my ticket, so I went for the heck of it. I just stood around the snack table eating cookies all night. My dress was a royal blue dress with sequins covering my bust and scattered throughout the flare. By the end of the night, my under arms were getting raw from the rubbing on the lace and sequins, I was SO happy to take it off. The highlight was the usual senior "most likely to..." award ceremony after dinner. I didn't expect anything since I was the least social girl there, BUT WAIT I DID, the "most likely to survive the zombie apocalypse" award with this one other guy. I felt more offended since they took my outcast status as something positive, might I add I was getting over a depression from feel outcasted and that award made it worse.

my senior "prom" sucked too but I was glad I went just so I didn't feel like I missed out. Things are a little different in Canada, there is no "junior prom" or "senior prom" just school dances and the grads (aka seniors) get a few extra events throughout the year like grad BBQ in the fall, grad cruise at christmas (maybe other schools did something else if they weren't on the coast, our grad cruise sucked too, once we all got there we were told the boat didn't have enough fuel to both drive the boat and have music so we had to choose to either just cruise the boat around with no music or keep the boat at the dock and have music) and the grad party (aka prom) at the end of the school year. Good for you though for thinking for yourself and not just doing what everyone else was doing or caving to your friends when they decided to be all shitty about it. I'm glad you had a good time!

Kinda reminds me of our Halloween dance we have every year at my school. The dance area of the dance is in the basement/gym area and imagine around 100 freshmen and a few other kids from other grades crowded in a circle dry humping, dancing, and twerking all together in one big ass crowd of people. In a small basement because my school is small af. I remember feeling so fucking uncomfortable and hot when I went down there. My best friend and I ended up staying up stairs in the lobby with a few other friends. I had fun up there. The best part was the haunted house though.

This reminds me how crummy my Safe Grad is; games there are flipping confusing, no guy want to dance with me, and the music, DON'T FORGET THE FRICKING MUSIC; it start with jazz which is the kind of music that I dislike and when they get to the music that isn't jazz, it was to flipping LOUD FOR ME TO DANCE TO. Also the saddest thing is like I said before, no one want to dance with me and I've been laying down on the couch in tears due to that and my ex (whom I was together at the time) is far away in that case its a long distance relationship, with that I wish he was there with me in Safe Grad so he be with me at the time. I makes me feel disappointed when I think about it. :(

lol i made my prom dress and won a competition (like a crochet competition, not prom monarch) but my fiance and i didnt go to the prom at all. we went to cheesecake factory and talked about how fake everyone was and how we'd probably be one of only 2-3 together couples at the reunion. We did go to the afterprom bc tickets were $10 and they were showing marvel's civil war and serving a ton of food and giving out money and prizes.

I used hate homecoming until I was on homecoming committee. Food is expensive, decorations are expensive, printing tickets is expensive, and deciding on a theme is difficult. Finding a good DJ is actually super hard where we live and chaperones have to be fed. Also, the teachers would stand in the dance floor and break people up when people got too insane, but I still ended up getting groped by a senior.

Ahh, Prom. This may be a year and almost two months late and my prom was last year, but I will say, prom for me was meh. I went to my senior prom with my friends and little brother (It was his junior prom). We were just sitting around the dance floor, listening to rap as my two friends (Who still are dating), went and tried to slow dance to the rap. My bestie, Bunbun, and I were trying to find something fun to do, since we didn't have a date, and we were trying to avoid the school's black hole. I'll name him Snorlax, like the pokemon. Context, Snorlax was known as the black hole by folks in the school because of how much he ate. This guy would eat a tub full of spaghetti or three slices of pizzas, or a container of meatloaf, or a large thing of whatever was his leftovers at home, a bag of chips and a thing of jello with a carton of milk, then actively go out and ask folks if they're going to finish their meals. He actually took a pizza from me because it was on the floor and I was in shock, and he actually tried to fucking eat it from the teacher's hand when he was being lectured. Snorlax did a lot of shit, but I ain't going to explain it here. But he did expect to have a girlfriend and get a kiss from the girlfriend. Here's where the prom comes in. At prom, he was followed by a teacher that is known as Mister Jay, and apparently he had two girls with him. Snorlax was enjoying himself with the two girls who were extremely uncomfortable with him, but the teacher always reminded Snorlax and the girls that they were only going to the prom as friends. FRIENDS. I noticed Snorlax because how does one forget his face and voice. Bunbun doesn't like him either because of how entitled he is in video games and actually threw a fit when Bunbun whooped his butt in Soul Caliber. I told Bunbun that he was there and we didn't look at him at all, we just avoided him as much as we can. After prom, I went to the classroom and I overheard Snorlax complaining about how the two girls who went to the prom with him didn't want to kiss him at all, and the teacher had to remind him over and over and over that they were only going as friends, not dating. And soon after Snorlax's breakdown, he asked if I was even at prom because he didn't see me. I can't remember how I responsed, but I feel like me going monotone and done with this guy saying "I was at Prom. You just didn't see me." Prom was just a so-so experience. There was a limit on how much you can snack and drink juices, there was very little things you can do, and I had to actively avoid Snorlax for my sanity, but I got to be with my friends, which was fun. Sorry if this was extremely long.

Going to Disney instead of prom sounds like an amazing idea! I'm lucky enough to live in Orlando so it's actually a possibility. I'll definitely bring that up with my friends for my senior year (which is going to be next year thank goodness I'm almost done with school)

I honestly hated both my prom and my homecoming. Homecoming was a little bit better but prom was a mess. I hated my dress, I hated my hair, my boyfriend and I couldn’t sit with our friends, and we couldn’t even dance cause the dance floor was the size of a post it note. We ended up leaving early cause we just hated it. At least homecoming I had an actually cute dress and I had fun with my boyfriend at the restaurant we went to before it but yeah school dances are incredibly over hyped and I wish we wouldn’t have gone and just hung out at home with my boyfriend.

I never went to prom because, I've been invited to a dance cause someone said I was cute and turns out they didn't invite me, made fun of me because I thought someone actually liked me. They didn't and I never went to any dance or prom period. Sometimes I wish I did but whatever, I was told it wasn't great to begin with.

I’m in seventh grade and my school has four dances every year. They’re not SUPER bad, but they’re kinda sucky. What do expect? It’s middle school. Anyway, I went to the first dance in sixth grade and I didn’t have a good time. But for the rest of the year, some of my friends and my mom tried to get me to go to the other dances. I didn’t, and I regret nothing.

I just had my senior prom and it was meh at best. They served tacos and it was a pain trying to not get grease on my dress. Then my dress back buttons kept popping (we had to get it tailored because of my weird sizing and the seamstress added buttons to the back instead of redoing the lace up because she had to take it in 8 inches) My twin brother got a GF there so that was nice.

I was actually planning on making a similar video lol. The difference is that I’ve never been to a single school dance. I based my judgement on what my friends said of homecoming and decided it wasn’t worth the money. For prom instead since I live about 3 hrs outside of NYC, two of my friends and I drove up to see the Anastasia Broadway musical (it was last year so it was still the original cast) and stay the night in a hotel a little ways outside of the city. Funny thing is that we had way more fun than we would’ve at prom (none of us are really party people) and it still cost about the same

This story reminds me of when I went to my sophomore prom with my ex boyfriend (He was a senior so I was allowed to go with him)... It honestly sucked for me too but that's mainly because my ex didn't even want to dance with me. At all. He was so disinterested in the entire thing and just wanted to sit and eat the food that was there. I ended up dancing with my friends instead and ditching him completely. There's a lot more to why my prom sucked but long story short I didn't go to my senior prom either. I regret going to my sophomore prom because I wasted my time even being there.

My grad-dance it was different, I had fun and I never had a date and no one ask me to dance as well, dancing with my friends and enjoying the final night of my highschool. We had our dance downtown and my school rented a hotel, we have our dinner in dance ball and I did dance on stage like brief second XD Most music was mostly 90s songs.

Yea, I went to prom once. It's basically a bunch of teenagers trying to act like adults. I actually made my own dress and little hat and accessories because I was in clothing crafting type classes so that was fun. Honestly though everything outside of being in the prom building was fun. Making my stuff to wear, getting all dressed up and going to my hair stylist, everything besides the actual prom, lol. It just felt very boring and like I could have been doing a thousand better things dressed up the way I was. I've been to adult parties and fancy places, anything they try to peddle to teens as a taste of adult hood pales in comparison to the real thing. I say this because I also went to a masquerade at a club having a teens night, it was just as big a disaster. Just do something you know you'll like instead save adulting for when you're an adult.. ^-^;

I didn't go to my senior prom either. I went to my boyfriend's (at the time) senior prom when I was a sophomore... and then they played the Harlem Shake... We promptly left at that point. Though getting to dress up and stuff was fun it just felt really lame and a waste of class funding. From what I heard from other students, our prom blowed anyway so I didn't waste another $30 on a ticket to a sucky party.

I remember that the girls from my school threaten me to not go to prom, long story short they are trying their hardest to bully me to this day I dunno why, I don't even remember talking to them or knowing their names. Lucky me is that I didn't want to go to their prom, because I was going to my friends prom. But oh well in my country the students are the ones that make the prom like choose the location, buffet, raise the money, but the money stays in the school, two months before the prom one of the teachers stole the prom money. I remember we didn't even had a proper class for weeks, because we knew who had stole it, the director didn't want to hear about it because he was good friends with the teacher and he was one of the school owners, but the teacher was one of this disgusting people so he bragged about stealing in the face of one of the girls that was preparing the prom, later that week we found out that the guy stole from lots of other schools prom money. Sadly he didn't suffer any repercussions, because he was just "joking" and one week before the prom he gave the money back. And in the end the school closed thanks to my city being small.

I went to two different schools during my high school career one public, one private and I never went to a school dance in the public high school 'cause school dances are generally shit. But the Private one had a forced prom that every one went to. The only reason why they did this is because they knew most of the student's wouldn't go (there were about 100 students) and it'd only be the group that was the party planning comity which were the same basic friend group out side of it as well which would mean that there was only like 10 or so people in that group lol. But both times it sucked 'cause it was like the equivalent of going to a middle school dance.

I know this is old, but I just wanted to say that SUCKS and I'm sorry you had to go through that. Also, I left my views on the proms I went below if anyone cares. Meh, my 2 previous homecomings and my junior prom(I planning to go to my senior one), they didn't suck. Well, to me, this year homecoming it seem like not a lot of people were there, but then there was a haunted house, and I didn't go through that, but I HOPE it was better than my first homecoming's haunted house, it wasn't even that scary, it was just dark and only a little ominous. And my junior prom, the place of the prom was aquarium and we were allowed to go through the aquarium and see the types of animals, so A on that. At least, all the songs from all of the dances, they can bring students into a dance mood. Specially, if one of them is 'Cha Cha Real Smooth' Though, I don't stay for long since 1. My phone's battery life SUCKS and I have to call/text my grandma(since I live with her and my step-granddad) to pick me up since I don't have car. 2. I don't like stay at one that isn't my home near 10pm since I would rather go to BED. 3. I rather NOT walk in the dark where it could be either raining or snowing that night or You could possible get harmed by strangers. And 4. I don't have any friends, so I can't even get a ride from a friend. I'll probably edit this when I get to my other dances.

thankfully, none of the school dances i went to were bad. mostly cus the main ones i went to were back in middle school, so everyone was being silly and having fun, and best of all, the music was chosen by like one of the middle schoolers that helped, and they chose the good shit like Everybody Wants To Rule The World, Take On Me, Africa and other such good stuffs (as well as more recent stuff at the time like a few things by panic at the disco) and the only highschool dance i went to was kinda just bland, but they did have free candy edit: most of ur complaints about le prom u went to are valid but,, like the bit about u not liking that there were homeless ppl around the place where u parked like, where else are they gonna go? they cant heccin get homes or jobs or nofin. homeless ppl aint just gonna mug everyone they see, most of them are just doing their best to survive, and just cus someone seems shady doesnt mean theyre homeless.
