I love all of these artists and i do not mean to degrade or downplay their worth with this term. Let me know what yall think in the comments
FD signifier dropped a long form video explaining a similar topic much more eloquently than I. Definitely check his out.

I'll have to respectfully disagree, I see the point you're making, that the term "white rapper" refers to bad/basic/corny rappers that are white, and I get that Mac doesn't fit that description so he's not under this label "white rapper" even though he is literally a white dude who raps. I understand your point totally and I even agree with it to an extent, but where I don't agree is your use and view of the term, people straight up don't use the term "white rapper" that negatively or view it that negatively, I can see old heads and people who don't know a lot about hip hop prolly doing that but that's it, the reason is just because there's been plenty of white rappers who are genuinely good at the craft, Mac Miller of course, Eminem, Action Bronson, El-P, and Aesop Rock for example, love them or hate them, they have done a good job, I know there's the other side of the coin that fucking sucks, but they don't do enough to discredit the whole, this reminds me of that opinion people have that old 90's-00's rap is the best and everything after is mumble

He was pretty good when he did K.I.D.S. and Blue Slide Park but everything after that is amazing and I feel he was becoming a better musician all the time with him producing a lot of his best songs and playing instruments on his last few albums. Great video! Your argument reminds me of how a lot of people complain about cultural appropriation which ironically destroys liberalism and cultural assimilation. We all understand systemic racism and white privilege exists but all we can do is be self aware about these problems and do our best to overcome them with a more fair and loving world. Mac Miller is the epitome of a man who is so much deeper than race and clearly did everything he could to override any racist boundaries created in our culture. Above all else, he was a human concerned with caring for other humans. People want to complain about cultural appropriation but Miller showcased bluntly how love and respect overpowers the waves on the surface.

I really wish that people would stop caring about race of not only artists, but everyone around them. I was brought up seeing plenty of racism, and discovered on my own that it was wrong to see someone different based on how they look. Same thing with someone's hairstyle, whether they wear glasses, the clothes they wear, their gender, we're all human. I used to see it as accepting that Hip-Hop welcomed people like Eminem and Mac Miller, but seeing how people treat Macklemore, Logic and Drake, the more accurate conclusion is that Hip-Hop is still racist. Race in 100% of situations these days is a cop out, an excuse. It's all bullshit that people are trying to use to separate one another even further.

That’s tone deaf take cause hip-hop and race is like this 🤞 also other genres like jazz,Funk,Soul, Gospel, Pop, Rock, House, blues etc(also subgernes of these main genres). The creation of hip-hop was revolutionary the same with other Black Americans music you need to understand that white people didn’t even like the music from black people until a white person copied it. These creations of name has a big impact of African Americans express that pain cause by their skin color in instruments and songs.

He’s always had elements of other genres in his music. Secondly I’m talking about his impact on music and how he fits in with the culture as a whole and how he transcended that as detailed in the video you didn’t watch. Post Malone is very much so a white rapper. Nate dog is a rapper too. Just because he harmonizes doesn’t mean it’s not rap. And lastly the “last two albums” were the last 4 years(more if counting production) of that man’s life. Just because you listened to them quickly, doesn’t mean it was not a significant amount of time.

I actually liked Mac Miller, as a white rapper myself who is both goofy and serious at the same time, I was really saddened when Miller died. He was so dedicated to his music and had quite complex word plays and a proper old school hip hop sound, he was almost like J Cole or Drake at times, but even more underground and was bringing hip hop back. At one point i saw a suggestion that MMG should sign him on xxl mag, and I think that could actually have worked out, him and Wale on the same songs would've been straight up murder.

i was sobbing when you put together those beautiful clips of everyone praising mac and everything…then i cackled bc bruh i love darius rucker 😂😂 grew up listening to country with my grandpa who would be like “you hear this? changing country. this black dude can sing fr.” so it’s interesting you brought him up in a video about mac miller, a white rapper who definitely changed the game similarly to how rucker did for country and country listeners.

Nah the n word is definitely a bad word still. We must mature and set a standard. Mac definitely is a great artist but still a white rapper...

That word ain’t goin anywhere for a long time if ever so it is indeed better to take the power away from it. He’s white but he’s not in the conversation of “white rappers” for me like Macklemore and Asher Roth are. Hes still a white rapper to you

Mac just fits in with the culture effortlessly. There's a difference in being cool and trying hard to be cool. I could easily see it in high school too. The white people that naturally fit in to the culture and the try hards who just came off as off brand black people. I also heard some Japanese music that sounds culturally "black" for lack of a better term. It's definitely a soul thing

So just to be clear, “white rapper” just means “I dont accept this artist for many reasons, but the easiest one to point out is that he’s white”. Got it bruh lol
@_FLWRS

Aye if everyone else got a different conclusion than you. You probably did your math wrong 🤷🏾‍♂️ get your comprehension up. Cause I never said I don’t accept anyone. “White rapper” is in quotations for a reason. It’s more a genre than it is a describing factor
