Some feel that the dialogue is course, rough and irritating, but the meme gets everywhere.

I love the water. I don't like sand.

Very well thought out and articulated. I always felt people overract or don't understand the line... or can only see it on surface level. But I didn't have a way to make arguments against them. This video gave me some ammunition for that. :D

I guess it's the acting that throws people off. I respect both of the actors as actors but I acknowledge the imperfections in the delivery. No matter how well thought out the writing may be. Worth saying I still love the prequels as Lucas's legacy no matter all their flaws.

Glad you addressed that Anakin's distaste for sand is kind of irrelevant. It's a means to pivot the conversation to an awkward but sincere expression of his affection towards Padme, yet people who defend the line overly fixate on how it's consistent with his character. Also, I would personally argue that the real issue might not be the line itself, but Padme's response. Anakin is not being entirely considerate, and it's not acknowledged despite being what made her push him away in the first place. A point could be made about how it reflects his overly possessive nature, but none of it factors into Padme's decision to hold back her feelings, as it has all to do with her responsibilities as a political figure. It's strange because she had earlier put Anakin in his place for imposing himself.

Thanks! Fair points. Yeah, it wasn't exactly appropriate on Anakin's part. And I believe I address in the video how Anakin took what she said earlier to heart, and changed his behavior and approach. I think he wanted to give it one more chance, with a gentler approach, and if she turned him down, he would be willing to stop. Which he did after the fireplace talk.

Of course the line is cringe. It is supposed to be. Anakin is not the smooth flirting type. He is just young and very in love and being unexperienced talk cringy things. It makes the viewer feel a bit uncomfortable?! Well, that's the point because is like he is feeling at the moment. It is even cute, obviously even for Padme, because she responds to this. Great video, as always.

Right, This is a good illustration of how Anakin always goes for what he wants, even if he's not sure what he's doing, or sure of what the consequences will be. his first attempt failed, but for Padme he was willing to change and be better...

The line is just delivered terribly. There is basically no emotion in Hayden Christenson's performance in this scene and it just comes off as awkward small-talk to fill space whilst Anakin thinks of something important to say. He doesn't even say it non-chalantly, he just says it like a robot
