"I hope I'll like them." NOT "I hope they like me." Difference between success and misery.

Even if people dislike you, it’s not a big deal! It doesn’t affect you or your career! Specially not if you are a kind and smart person! It’s who you are that influences your life not what people say about you!

Susie, I think a lot of what you're saying is true, for example I think some people that criticize you put you down so they can be bigger. But I also think that the reason some people might criticize is because they're trying to gain power, for example, if somebody can make you change your outfit or not wear that particular outfit again, then they have power in that! Power enough to make you change your clothes! Or else to make you feel ashamed about wearing them. For example if you like to wear stripes with plaids because you like being different, like a patchwork blanket oh, I like that style , whatever style I like, is what I like to wear, if somebody else has the nerve enough to comment on my clothes and insults them or try to insult me or embarrass me or make me feel self-conscious, then I just think they have a nerve, and it's not going to make me change my clothes! Why should I? ? I like them! I might just dance them when they say they don't like them, or they don't think they match, I might just dance them and say while you're not wearing them! or I might say nothing at all because, I don't really care what they think about the outfit that I wear, because if I didn't like it I wouldn't wear it if I didn't feel like it. Because sometimes I do with things that I don't like. But my point is, is that I think it is often because they are trying to shrink you, and make you feel smaller than they are. on the idea of what you said they're not really happy with them self, and they don't really like the idea that you're happy with yourself oh, well I'm sad for them, they should just try what I do, where would you like! That's what I do, and if I don't like it, I'm the only one that has to worry about it because I'm the only one wearing it. Well it's not all about clothes, but I'm not trying to please everybody, I'm not a people pleaser, I'm also not trying to displease people. But my life is given to me by God, It's My Life, they can be concerned in their life, and unless they're trying to save me, they can keep their negative comments. you don't have to nitpick at people for why they wear that color lipstick, or why they have their hair in that style, or why they wearing those clothes, they can use their brain and stop and think about it! In realize! I guess she likes that lipstick! In that hairstyle! In those clothes. It's that simple

Yes! A critic's words are more about them than about you!

I remember you telling me once that having critics or haters is a wonderful thing. Before that mindset shift, I was nervous to get my first online hater, but when I did, I actually got really excited because it meant that my work was striking a chord with people, sometimes an angry chord and, more often, an inspired chord. But who has time to be lukewarm and not strike any chords at all? Love this, thank you for the reminder

I began making the shift a couple years ago after reading a quote from a Rene Brown: don't try to reel in the haters, you are not a jackass whisperer. It's now taped to my bathroom mirror.

Sometimes you can use the feedback to improve your life, its up to you how you take it, you can ignore it if you want to. Your life, your choices. Thanks for the video.

How do I overcome critics? Not very well usually! I soak it in then stew on it! Really useful thoughts - think it’s true that while criticism can be well intentioned, it can often just be a reflection on the person making it. Often, you later overhear them criticising someone else in a similar way, then think ahh! Not just me then. Positive thinking and a bit of resilience is so important - I know what not having them sometimes can do. Thanks for the video - a timely boost :-) For me, this is the type of mindset I need to develop - I shall continue to watch your videos (from across the pond). Nick.

I think critics are usually frustrated by your success, but agree they too can have some Caluavle perspective you should consider.

What about leadership ? What if those critics resemble those behaviors, yet seems to want to lead. Then they start calling you sweetheart, honey, baby. Or offering to be a mentor without you asking or without them doing anything. Then it takes all your time and energy, just trying to fight them off.

To be absolute honest, it's just someone's opinion of me. It doesn't define me for who I really am. It's only their reality and their reflection. I take it on board if I feel it's necessary for my growth, if not, I discard. I am quite selective with information, and always reflecting as it's part of my growth. I think about thing on a deep level, rather than just discarding as there maybe some truth in the matter, itself. If we didn't have criticism we would be very complacent, and that's not a good thing, in any aspect!

PS, well if they ever tell you that they don't like you? you can answer them, well don't worry about it because there's somebody else inside of me that you might like! that would be Christ :-)
