It is also more common for people in the UK to drink hot water. Honestly, I don't like hot water. I can barely drink hot coffee.... And I know I hate lukewarm water. Plus it is a lot easier to get room temperature water or cold water than hot water. It would take like 5-10 minutes to heat up the water. When I'm working 13 hrs, I don't have the energy to go out of my way to do that.

Hot water is how I survive these brutal Canadian winters... hydration and comfort in a mug what more do you need really
@Sabrina-rl1xx5 жыл бұрын
Hmm, that's a thought. I'm Canadian as well and I find that I don't drink nearly enough water in the winter because it's so damn cold, whereas in the summer I'm constantly drinking water in the summer because I'm so hot. All I drink in the winter is tea is mostly but then I end up being dehydrated for months with all the caffeine. Will have to try drinking hot water.
@gabmay16825 жыл бұрын
Sabrina 1441 I live in Australia- it doesn't even snow in my town and I still have to drink hot water in the winter to make sure I stay hydrated in 'the cold' 😂😉 I highly recommend 👍❤️
@Sabrina-rl1xx5 жыл бұрын
@@gabmay1682 You're so lucky not to have to deal with snow at least. The thing that makes winters such a pain for me is all the snow and ice more than the actual cold. At least when there's no snow or ice making the sidewalks and roads treacherous you can still get where you're going at a regular speed. There are days when it takes me twice as long to walk to places because of the condition of the sidewalks and by the time I get where I'm going I'm basically a popsicle and feel I've like spent an hour at the gym working out my legs. lol
@gabmay16825 жыл бұрын
Sabrina 1441 woah! That sounds intense... I struggle walking to my car when there’s a wind chill 😂 in Newcastle, Australia we are definitely tragic at trying to deal with the cold - in Northern Australia we’re even worse if it gets below 20 degrees Celsius up there - they feel like the work is going to end hahhahah!
@Sabrina-rl1xx5 жыл бұрын
@@gabmay1682 LOL You have no idea. -20 celcius is only moderately cold here, heck in January and February that would be a warm day. On bad days it's gotten to below -40 celcius with the windchill and in January and February it's basically -30 Celsius and below every day, not including the windchill. There are days when my eyelashes literally get frozen together after being outside for just 5 minutes. It's crazy! lol I keep having to take my hands out of my mitts to defrost my eyes so I can see. I'll tell you a secret, EVERYONE doesn't like wine, beer, coffee and tea the first taste but after a time of ritualistically drinking the damn thing, you start to really love and crave it.
@courtney84376 жыл бұрын
Pan's Nymph yeah, I know that. Some things are an "acquired taste". I've tried a ton of different wines, that taste hasn't been acquired and frankly I don't want to like it either. If alcohol is an acquired taste what's the point of drinking it over and over again, basically forcing yourself to like it if it's not good for you? Coffee and tea aren't really bad for you, but drinking alcohol over and over so you learn to like it leads to a problem...
@breakfastattiffanys7416 жыл бұрын
@@courtney8437 That's sensible thinking. Although I can't speak for all people but a fair amount drink these things for the effects not taste (caffeine, uninhibited feelings, confidence etc) and yes then problems start.

You’ve converted me! I tried hot water for the first time just now just to see. Honestly, I expected it to be gross because Florida Tap water is very hard with minerals that don’t taste very good. But I really liked it! It was weirdly satisfying. Personally, I like coffee but not tea. But even with coffee, it’s more of a treat for me when I’m out and not an everyday thing. And I had to train myself to like it since I didn’t like the taste at first. So I can see how just hot water may be a nice alternative for me when I’m home and don’t want a cold drink.

A lot of cultures drink hot water. It's said to "wake up" your digestive system and clear congestion and relieve dry nasal passages from sleeping. My grandmother had it every morning before her mid-morning coffee. She said coffee straight away was "too jarring" for her system first thing in the morning. So she'd "wake up" with hot water first. I'm one who hates the taste of hot water, if water isn't cold I can't drink it. I get you on the alcohol, I only drink it if I like the taste so usually it's cider as it's effectively fizzy apple juice with sometimes other fruits. My brother never liked alcohol until the last couple of years (he's 32), but his tastes in alcohol are still like a newly minted basic white person. I like a couple of spirits but I drink rarely, and I never drink a lot when I do. I don't see any issue with drinking hot water, I've met a few old ladies who do (often English actually) its just not for me. I wish we had that vegan mac abs cheese here to try though, it did look good!
