In this video I talk to you about my relationship with work and how my relationship with 'hustle culture' (productivity obsession) has made it hard for me to relax.
We take a few days off work, all work, and just have fun. Dancing on the frozen sea in the North of Sweden, exploring and enjoying nature.
0:00 Intro
0:54 Reflection on my obsession with productivity
5:15 Vlog part 1 - sunset walk with deer
6:23 How I make the decision to relax anyway
7:00 Vlog part 2 - walking the frozen sea
9:09 Reflection on toxic productivity and the problem with delayed gratification.
10:09 Vlog part 3 - riding frozen waves
12:15 Final thoughts
14:13 The real end
I have also started working on a website where I will share my story with you in more detail.

Hey everyone, my name is Naomi 👋
In summer 2020, amidst a global pandemic, My husband and I uprooted our lives in Central London and decided to move to Northern Sweden.
We were fed up of living on top of millions of other people in London, living out of one room in a flat shared with Naomi's parents, all whilst studying, working, creating KZbin content and launching our business.
So we bought a car, packed it full of our belongings, and drove nearly 3000km to Sweden with no idea where we were going to live.
So join us as we share and document our journey through film.
We are so pleased to share our journey with you and hope to build a community of people who can support one another and grow together.
Lots of love
Naomi

I'm from a bit further north than where you are and am currently living in London. Your videos made me question why I left, but then the few last ones about the cold and the darkness made me remember why (although it's actually only a few months a year, and the rest of the year more than makes up for it). As for feeling pressure producing materials, I know all about it. I had a commercial photo studio but eventually sold it as the pressure to take on any job to bring in the money made me fall out of love with photography. Now I believe I take more pictures than ever.

I enjoy my work but sometimes feel like I'm getting nothing done if I'm not busy doing it. When It seems as though something is missing, I'll put the work aside because some of my best ideas come during those breaks. Breaks from work give the mind a chance to be creative and come up with new ideas and solutions. This is what I have to remember when I'm itching to go back to work. Love your scarf headrap.

Hi Naomi AND Jack 😀... What a stunning video, such breathtaking shots and pure réflexions about life, and decision to choose joy... I would have added that joy increases faith in that way that what happens in our life is for good purposes on the second hand fear increases doubt that for sure only slows you down in your energy as well as projects and eventually freeze your life most of the time. So happy that you are happy. Happiness is one of the most powerful medications against fear and doubt because it gives you faith in yourself and our creator. Love you guys.

Beautiful video and message 🤗. The first year I moved to Germany from the UK.. We had minus 15c for weeks and the Baltic Sea froze.. So we went ice-skating on the sea.. You had to skate parallel to the shoreline to stay between the frozen waves and ice-Bergs. It was so fun, but also serial.

I struggle to leave my desk but I've never considered it is because I enjoy my work 🤔 for me it is because I like everything neat and tidy and do not like leaving tasks unfinished. And as a perfectionist many tasks take longer that they should!! My challenge is to be less perfect and more productive in less hours 🙏❤️

Thank you for your reflections! I have been thinking about it so much my self during the years and it's really really hard to live in the present and don't think about tomorrow. Honestly I don't think I have had a single day without any kind of work for a whole day since I went in to our own business, which is a very long time ago... I think it's something we battle who run our own business around our passions and interests. Sometimes when I for example standing on the dogsled training our huskies I need to ask myself is this work or is pleasure? But I think I could really need a day or two just totally off work and no thoughts about work but it's really hard. /Stina

I think it's not a matter of hustle vs. no-hustle. a certain level of self-honesty and reflection is necessary to recognize when our relationships with work and business become unhealthy - but we need to have the space between us and the work to be able to recognize that. and to recognize that, no matter how much we want to, our level of work is NOT the key to 100% control over our circumstances. *side note - you're editing game in on FIRE with this one darling

Naomi. There is nothing wrong with "hustle culture". Know that even self care requires a type of "hustle" because today a lot of indications tells us all that rest, self-love and self care is not something we should deeply invest in because we should work harder. However there are more and more people saying they feel stressed. NOW. That being said. I am not quite sure where your meanderings will take your channel and your multiple businesses, but I for one would have loved for you to explain a bit more about that lake (body of water) you were on? When does it freeze? How thick does the ice get? All those other tire and animal tracks go from and lead to where? I am interested in both of your stories and your hustles but I also want to feel part of your wanderlust with little factoids that may make me want to visit that far North. Keep doing what you do. You 3 are a gift to the world.

It's finding and maintaining the balance... Coming back to center... There are seasons to focus and work and seasons to just BE. Now I find that I try to find balance in finding both in a course of a day there are times in my day to just BE, and then there are times in my day to work in focus. It's one of those personal inward lessons isn't it? Productivity does not = self-worth. 😘 🙏💜🕊️

I definitely think the 'hustle' culture has its place and CAN be helpful, i just dont think it always IS helpful. Like you say, if hustling is taking away from your life instead of just adding to it, it's probably not beneficial to personal relationships and well-being. Loved you riding the waves too!

Don't feel guilty for relaxing........U bought one of the cheapest houses around and U live within your means by recycling everything so what's to worry about? But I know what U mean because my parents also told me to work hard and they did and spent everything they earnt that my single mother eventually told me she was in a lot of trouble financially so my husband and I bailed her out. Wise use of time is important and not just being busy for the sake of it.......My favorite saying is ' Life is not a dress rehearsal. U get no second chance. So live it as best U can'.
