Originally they were Australian, but went into liquidation about 8 or so years ago, now owned by a British company. I’ve got 2 TRA001’s one sitting in my router table, another dedicated to my linear router sled. They’re rock solid (just like my old Hitachi TR12 which was my Dad’s) and you can’t go wrong with one.

The first half of the kzbin.infoUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.

This is the best router that I have owned and used, and I have owned a few routers over the years. It has all the features needed for most jobs and to get the best out of the machine. I got this router because I wanted one to be a table router in a Kreg top and it fitted very easily and works well. It was so good that I bought another one to use as a plunge router. It is very smooth when starting a cut and the variable speed is easily matched to the stock. Both have had a reasonable amount of work and show no aging.

I just bought this router a month ago and was fumbling my way through how to set the depth with the plunge winder / micro adjuster. You definitely cleared things up for me, thank you!

I bought one a while ago and 90% of the time it's mounted in my router table. The two really nice things about it are the hand crank height adjustment from the top of the table (requires drilling a 1/2" hole through the table top... no big deal) and the way the collet locks when cranked to the full up position so you just need one wrench. In other words no more crouching down and fumbling around underneath the table trying to change bits with two wrenches!! One more nice feature he didn't mention... When you go to change bits the collets are designed so when you loosen them with the wrench and go an extra turn or so it pops the little tapered sleeve loose from the tapered shaft freeing up the bit. My old router I used to have to tap on the bit pretty hard to get the bit loose. My only little gripe about this router is how you have to slide a little spring loaded plastic window over to access the on/off switch. A little cumbersome...

In Order to hit that adjustment fitting when mounted under the table, I glued a 1 inch piece of 3/4 inch PVC water pipe around that so the adjustment handle would easily go in.

I got the TRA001... its an ANIMAL !! 😅😅 I love it 🤗 It went straight into the table as its VERY HEAVY and anyway I have 3 other routers. One little problem I had was with the pin in the cross-drilled height adjuster shaft into which the winder handle fits... mine came loose & dropped out !! I fixed it but at 2mm by 12mm its rather fragile... Thanks for the vid !! From the Emerald Isle 👍😎☘

I think you could use the jigg more when drilling in the work bench? Drill the first row, use the al to locate the second row, then go back and do the same for the third. Now you can use the 2 holes on the top and the bottom, this way you eliminate the risk of measuring wrong between the rowes.

Triton routers are fabulous. I have both the MOF and the TRA with the bigger one set in the router table. I don’t know why they are not more popular. Fully adjustable in the table with no need for a separate router lift. Genius. And the spindle lock. Fabulous. Gutsy too. Nifty fence, soft start and dust collection shroud. Brilliant. Remember to take the spring out to mount in the table as per the instructions.

I have the TRA001the bigger one to yours and i am currently working on a project to mount it in a homemade router table - i was going to make a rectangular mounting plate but after seeing how you made a round one i think this is what i am also going to do. I am a bit unsure how large to make the hold in order to made inserting and removal easy - how did you work out what size hole/router plate you needed to make

Why didn't you buy the more powerful Triton? Was the price difference simply too much or? I am told that for a router table a 1400W is the absolute minimum plus it must be able to accept half inch router bits. So I'm bleeped with my Stanley 1200W bargain with quarter inch bits for a table setup...
@WoodshopJunkies
@WoodshopJunkies 5 жыл бұрын
The price difference between the two is actually not that bad but it was enough to put the larger TRA001 just out of my budget. Also, the TRA is a bigger router and because space is starting to get very limited on my bench I decided to go with the smaller MOF. I'm hoping I don't regret it.

Hi, I like the Triton 1600W version, but it only supports 1/2 inch or 12mm bits. Is this going to be a problem later on? My trim router supports 6mm bits, but a lot of bits are available in 8mm or 12mm. the smaller younger brother of this router supports all bit types but is not as powerful and I don't know if it has all the features like this one.

After 11 months, how reliable has it been? I've read of Triton motors burning out very quickly. BTW, the flex dragging on the table is a bore, especially for cutting circles. I use a bit of bungee cord to a hook in the ceiling to hold it up out of the way

Hi nice video i am looking to buy one for a router table which i need to make. I am quite a newbie at this can i ask you a question please? i use a small router and make several passes of around 3mm ,so if i was going to a total depth of 9mm i would make 3 passes. I noticed you made one pass - can you tell me is it because the router you just used is powerful (mine is only 700w) and hence if you used a small router you would do the same?
@WoodshopJunkies
@WoodshopJunkies 4 жыл бұрын
Making multiple passes is a good habit in my opinion. I didn't do it because I was slimy testing the router and not focusing a high quality finish. On soft material I have found that a high quality bit with a standard router will perform better then a high quality router with a standard bit.

Hi there, I got the TRA001 not even a month ago. I'm having issues like screws coming loose, brake lever falling off every 20cm, fine depth dial coming off. Everything is literally falling apart. Then when doing small increments, it works fine, but when doing a T-slot, the router collet gives away and the bit jumps out no matter how hard I tighten it. I used to have a KINZO (C-brand) router and it did everything FINE but slow, even T-tracks and it's only 1200W. The Triton being 2400W, isn't much faster and struggles WAY TOO MUCH for having double the power. Anyone else here having similar issues? Thank you
