I just discovered your channel...we cook curried papayas(green ones) also you can grate it and add a bit of honey or sugar...as a snack OR add some chilli and salt. Taste great sweet or savoury. Tumeric is really gold

sounds great! Yes, papaya is such a verstile fruit to make so many different kind of dishes

This is something I want to implement but stuck for now. I am visiting Theosophical society in February 25, if possible I will come to see your food forest.

I absolutely love your channel! While I would love to visit India one day, I live on an acreage in Canada, so very different growing environment. Your videos inspire me to do more, intentional, gardening. I’d love to hear how you keep any pests away naturally. We have a lot of wildlife that loves to dig up/eat veggies and herbs. Would enjoy hearing about your experience with that. Take care! 🙏🏻

New subscriber here. Beautiful. I’ve been trying to grow papaya for three years. I don’t live in an ideal climate, but I will have my papaya trees one day soon.

Hi Sarah, so glad that you have returned producing videos. I already asked you for tips of growing papaya and you told me to put a lot of mulch. Do you have more advices? It’s quite difficult here, although I live in the tropics in Brazil. I have to put more compost and manure probably. I really want to do the juice as well. Thanks for all the inspiration.

How do you water your food forest or do you depend on monsoon
@MyFoodForest6 ай бұрын
we only have a really short monsoon season here so most of the year I need to irrigate , which I do with sprinklers that I have installed in my garden.

I join to the other comments : We were missing you, Are you alright? About the video, well, it was great as always. I love this channel because I love food forests. True civilisation should be more savage or semi-savage. I respect nature and the gifts they offer to us without killling life. Maybe someday I will create my own food forest as yours (which serves me of inspiration), maybe in Latin America or in India. Greetings.

Do you have any pattern or sequence for tree planting or just scattered them randomly in your garden?
@MyFoodForest9 ай бұрын
For now around my house is more vegetable garden and the other part is scattered fruit trees, wherever there is a free space . I plan to plant much more fruit trees now. But papayas are just everywhere in between.

Hi Sarah! Could you please tell me what kind of cucumber you grow? Do you have issues with pests on your cucumbers?
@MyFoodForest9 ай бұрын
Hi Sarah - I do grow some local varity which I do not know the name. Its the one that grows the best and I can still eat them when there are huge.Unless other cucumbers they have small seeds and more pulp. Yes, I got these orange cucumber bugs that like to eat up all the leaves when the plant is young. Thats why planting the seed directly into the soil I always make sure grow saplings under a net and plant them out when they are a little bigger and stronger. That helps , and also just planting enough of them and in different places of the garden .

I would love to try this. Is there a reason why you don’t use ripe papaja? Don’t they produce more juice?
@MyFoodForest9 ай бұрын
Well ripe papayas you can make smoothies which is delicious too. But to make juice they need to be hard .
@parulchakma49029 ай бұрын
What kind of juicer do you use???
@MyFoodForest9 ай бұрын
Its a centrifugal juicer that you can get anywhere. I used to have a slow juice , but the electricity here is low ....so it was too slow to juice with it:)

In what soil Papayas grow and how much water to give them?
@MyFoodForest9 ай бұрын
At my place there is red soil, which is quite fertile . I mulch as much as possible , then all needs less water. Got sprinkler irrigation in my garden and I adjust the water with the season. But yes they like lots of water and sun
