Congradulations on the new 911, Will. It looks stunning! I'm also a 993 and 3.2 Carrera (and 911 SC) owner, they are fantastic cars, built to last many lifetimes! Guards red is always a winner in my book, but, for me, they just look and ride better with the original 16 inch fuchs wheels. Either way, what a beautiful machine! Keep up the good work, I really enjoy your videos.

Will -- Love the car & the mods. I have an '87 with very similar (if not exact) suspension upgrades, lower stance & rims. What mine does NOT have are the A/C upgrades. You happen to know what mfg upgrades it has and are you happy with them? When in SoCal you're welcome to test drive the 87 to pinpoint the G50 differences. Mine is in excellent condition, similar to yours.

I own an 89 that looks like this car’s identical twin. Mine only had 41k miles when I bought it a year ago, but that’s changing as it’s my daily driver. I just can’t not drive it. Such an engaging experience!

Greetings from the frozen tundra of MN! I've got an '86 Carrera too. It's black/black mostly stock with about 95k miles. I've had it for about 12 years now, and I still love every minute of it. It makes me smile every time I drive it. Looking forward to seeing what you do with/to yours.

You nailed it! I’ve done the dragon twice on my motorcycle and to me it’s nothing to come back to. I guess we can say we did it. Last time I was on my way to Bryson City. My favorite stay over on my yearly motorcycle trip. Maybe, next year I’ll take my 911. I’ve been all over where you are here. Yes, there’s so many other roads much better than the dragon. Your video is on while I write

Scott Koehn if you dig these roads you should check out the Back of the Dragon in SW Virginia. Runs between Tazewell, VA and Marian, VA. I did it with 3 other 993 buddies a month or so ago. 32 miles, less traffic, stupendous views and equally if not more challenging than anything you’ll find in western NC. Hands down way better than the tail. Thanks for the support. 👍🏼

Love it! I almost bought an 88 Cabriolet years ago from a friend of mine, she offered it to me first for dirt cheap, the only reason I didn't get It was because I wanted a coupe, not a Cabriolet, I've been regretting not getting it ever since. I also love your 2002. I used to have a 72 2002, it was my first car. I wish I'd never sold her! Love your collection!

I have a 87 Cab that was a total lemon and had to put way more then the cars worth to get it back to where the car deserves to be, now fighting Swiss DMV bureaucracy to get its Dansk exhaust approved, very long process. Dig your content, keep it up.

Thanks for taking a moment to share your experience and frankly, that sucks. I’ve been putting out air cooled content for awhile now and you’re honestly the first person to tell me you’ve have a bad experience with these cars. That info doesn’t help with your current situation but maybe it does mean you could dump your current 3.2 and jump into another one? The good news is that statistically speaking it seems your chances of getting another lemon are low based on all of the people who rave about their legendary reliability. Had 3 back in the early 2000's. 1 red 911 SC 3.0 with a whale tail. 1 red 911 Carrera 3.2. 1 black 911 Carrera 3.2 A white 928 S1 V8 4.7 litre, and a burgundy 944, 2.4 litre. The 911's were excellent but not without many age related problems. Water leakage and mechanical woes. Gearbox failure. All my cars came with a full folder or history. £1000's spent on them, but don't be fooled, you'll soon be adding to that portfolio!

My 86 has been trouble free aside from some initial work and tires. The 993 has needed a fair amount of sorting but has been great for over a year. I did a lot of elective modding to it which is no fault of the car’s. The 964….well, that remains to be seen. The good news? The joy makes it all worth it.

Ken Lakin it’s a group called Air Cooled 911 Fanatics. Transparently I haven’t spent much time learning about managing a group on FB so if you can’t find it it’s probably my fault in some way. What vintage M3 are you thinking? Hopefully not e30! They’re likely at the top of the appreciation range currently, I believe. I have an e36 M3 for track purposes. Fun car but I greatly prefer my air cooled Porsche’s.

Just curious, and I’m not asking what you paid but, what do you believe an ‘86 like yours with mileage similar to yours in great condition, not excellent, would sell for? If you don’t mind me asking? In this video- I Love the red. I wish that’s what mine was. And, love the 2002, tho I know you’re a Porsche guy all the way these days. It’s sweet! Thx, man

No problem at all. These days, I think a clean, well documented sub-100,000 mile 915 3.2 should be between $44,000 - $50,000. Broad range but I think it would be about number of prior owners and how much preventative maintenance had been done. G50 cars of the same condition I’ve seen listed at $55,000 - $65,000. I got lucky with mine as I got some really choice extras included in the sale: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pH-ppZ6Di7OKoas
