Makayla i'm so sorry. One tip I like to use is just knowing that things will get better, and that nothing lasts forever. If you ever feel stressed, breath slowly and focus on your breathing. I hope this helps❤

I have no tips but the only thing I can truly say is. That you guys are stronger than you think. Being here proves it. Don’t ever let someone or something ever bring you down because it’s not worth your time and you can do something so much better. ❤ keep being amazing and have a great day!! ^^

So I’ve struggled with mental health for years, so hopefully I can give good tips. 1. You don’t have to do everything at once, if there’s one particular thing that’s stressing you out, break it into smaller steps and work it out slowly. 2. If you don’t already and you have the opportunity to, find a therapist! 2a. If you have a therapist that is not what you wanted, or they’re not helping you, SAY SO. And then find a new therapist. Don’t be afraid to not see a therapist anymore, they should want the best for you and won’t be mad. 3. Take 👏 breaks 👏 I do marching band, which is about 5-6 months a year and can be very stressful. I don’t have a chance to make many breaks, and if you’re like this, then finding even one day a week to take a break is helpful. You always need at least a day, or even a few hours to just care for yourself That’s all for now, but I’ll prolly edit when I think through some more! You’ve got this, if no one you know seems to love you, just know random strangers on the internet do! 💜

@@MakaylaLysiakhey!! How's it going?? I actually went through something similar earlier this year with my fashion career, so I totally get it how awful it feels to leave a career path you've dedicated for over a decade. But is not bad to step away, at least momentarily. It's going to be ok, you'll find your way and perhaps you'll go back to acting stronger than ever! 🤗🤗🤗

Not enough people talk about how emotionally straining college is. I still wake up in panic that I’ve forgotten an assignment or test. Acting itself is also emotionally and physically straining. It’s ok to admit that your passion can be draining and still be a passion. ❤

Bro I feel like college nearly killed me lol. And what ate at me most was that I was struggling yet almost everyone else seemed to be having a breeze (I was studying computer science). I just got done recently, not yet graduated, but I totally would not recommend. Unless you're studying your passion I guess.

Even though I’m not acting, I can still relate. I was so scared of failing and everyone being better than me that I became the person that I didn’t want to become. Someone in my class was super good at acting, so I wanted to be good at acting too even though I didn’t like acting. I was worried of being a failure and I didn’t want to become a doctor but I chose the path to be a doctor just so I wasn’t a “failure.” Love your videos, they inspire me to follow my passions and dreams, thank you Makayla. Thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve recently had to drop my acting, I knew that it was mentally draining despite my love for it, I felt my love decline for it. I Can relate to so many things you’ve said, all the way from auditions being a burden to trying to fit it in your tight schedule trying to remember lines at last minute. I was 18, had a 9-5 job and was soon to be on my way to college in becoming a full time student. I knew that it would become just too stressful. Especially knowing that no matter the auditions I did during this moment in my life, no matter how well I tried upon my era of stress, I knew I wouldn’t be chosen. So it was like fitting a burden in schedule knowing that you’ll get nothing out of it but more burden. I’ve always wanted to be an actress since I was young, and had just gotten into an agency when I was 17. Unfortunately I had to end it. I knew my mental health would deteriorate. I also gave the email to my agency about my situation, and they decided to drop me. Never in a million years would I have ever thought I’d end my acting career so soon, but I knew for now it would be the best option. I can’t explain how stress free I am, I feel so much at peace and in life. It wasn’t acting itself, but rather the price I had to pay for it during this moment of time during my life. I’m keeping you in my prayers, thank you for sharing because it shows that I’m not alone, connecting with someone on this same topic truly helps me to. I’m glad God has brought me to your video today, God bless you Makayla ❤️

As a former actress I get it. I was like you but with theatre and independent film projects in nyc and Chicago. I started at 19 (not a child actor) and stopped at 28 when I became a wife and mother. I dropped out of college to purse this....I honestly couldn't imagine going while being a working actor. Now I have a 13 year old who is younger and more talented than I ever was and theater is her life! I'm going to show her some of your vids because she needs to hear and see this from an older peer who looks like her and not just her mom. You are beautiful, talented and brave to share this. It's appreciated so thank you. New subbie.

My brother is 20 years older and also a working actor. I always tell him he should do what you're doing, mentoring people... You're ABSOLUTELY qualified regardless if you ever book anything again. You have knowledge only a working actor would have. It's really tough if you don't hyphenate your job description. Actor- Writer - Producer- etc... What you're doing with your KZbin channel is making something for yourself without asking anyone to hire you. You are your own boss. Werk! ❤

The entire industry is less and less appealing to me than it was when I first started auditioning just because of how hard it is to keep yourself from wrapping your self worth into what others think of you and your work. You ABSOLUTELY have had a successful career thus far, and what you have done is such a huge accomplishment. People outside of this entire process don't have an understanding of how much work goes into each and every audition.... and the let downs that come along with it. The way I see it is... You are going to move forward and be the ONE who CREATES these incredible opportunities for actors like yourself. You've got an unlimited amount of potential and I really believe in you! @@aalove4 Hey I am a South African and I've been acting since I was 5 next year will mark 20 years since my first time stepping on a stage, I won a provincial/State Arts competition in 2019 and we were heading to the Nationals but unfortunate circumstances stopped us and in other tournaments before and since our achievement we lost and I have been accepted to her school's or MFA SA version AFDA as well as at Wits, TUT, UP, DUT, Oakfields College, City Varsity, Stellenbosch University, UFS and Rhodes but either money or my parents got in the way of me registering that year But I love Acting and I feel like I will make it that's why I'm entering my colleges drama competition one more time next year and apply for drama at colleges that year as now nothing stands in my way as I want to do movies by the end of this decade both locally and abroad

Baby, never apologize for crying. What you feel is valid, and what you are going through and pushed yourself through is nearly just an impossible experience. Breathe, and I know it’s hard and i see how much you are going through, but know that what you want to do, is what are you able to do. You are loved, physically and mentally and you are allowed to be vulnerable. We hold you up. Never feel fear baby, we’re here. Forever my love.

Thanks for sharing and being vulnerable about what you’re going through. We’re working on breaking into the industry and you’ve given us a lot to consider and keep in mind as we’re working to create our careers. We hope you get the balance you need and continue to grow and succeed in everything you’re doing. And if opportunities come together, we would love to be in one of your screenplays one day. Oh and Lavalamp.

I know you feared you might be “failing” your KZbin subscribers who follow you for acting advice by taking a break but watching you prioritize your mental health in the acting industry IS the acting mentorship leadership we need. 🙏🏽 Thank you for setting a beautiful example. I’ve also dealt with procrastination and depression with auditions. It’s nice knowing I’m not alone and empowers me to continue to show myself more grace.

LAVA LAMP! 🥳 Thank you so much for sharing your experience and being so transparent Makayla. I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and I am currently going through the VERY same thing that you are/went through. It’s so validating to hear that someone else that loves acting and has put in the work, is also feeling overwhelmed by it. It’s been so hard to feel these feelings and to take a seat from something that I once prayed for and then consistently strived to be apart of. And don’t even get me started on the anxiety and procrastination aspect! Everything you said was so accurate! Like a literal page from my own experience. And to see You [someone who has been very successful in your career] take a break, is so powerful for me. This video has TRULY blessed me in SO MANY WAYS! Thank you so so sooo much for sharing. Many many blessings and much success to you in your screenwriting and in ALL of your current and future endeavors! 🙏🏾💗

TAKING A BREAK?! 😳You are not alone 🫶🏽I am going through the very exact same thing right now, as we speak, and I can tell you it was the greatest decision I have ever made to give myself peace of mind, and I am slowly getting back into the love of directing and creating videos, but on my terms, and on my time and everything just feels very clear and stress-free. I just wanted to say how grateful I am that you made this video. I am a sophomore in high school and struggle with the same things you do. I make myself sick over assignments and projects because they have to be perfect and if there’s a single aspect of them that is less than perfect then I consider myself a failure. And that strikes a fear of failure in my life, which also leads to procrastination. Seeing you take a step back and consider your well-being first has taught me that your mental health is way more important than being “perfect”. I aspire to do so many things after high school (acting, singing, dancing, etc.), but I also know that this industry can be extremely overwhelming at times. I hope you know that you sharing your story is helping others, including myself, in so many ways. You are not alone in your struggles. We may not all be challenged in the same ways, but we all face roadblocks and hardships, and we can all find a way past them. God is not done using you, this is only the beginning of your journey. I’m so proud of you and look forward to watching you grow. God bless. ❤️
