As an Asian, I relate 100% I'm the only person in my family who didn't appreciate being Asian, my grandparents told me I was beautiful, but it felt unreal, now I'm glad I'm Korean side note : One kid, (of course he was white ) said to me when I was in the 5th grade, "Remember what we did to you in the Korean War!"
@Nas97.8 ай бұрын
Same here. I got the korean war comments growing up all the time. People often would say they "saved" korea and i should be grateful. I remember even up until uni having to argue with people that koreans were out there fighting too it wasnt just us sitting back while uncle sam did our fighting for us. It often fell on deaf ears. It sucks to always have people assume your weak when we come from a culture thats known for kicking ass. We have a long history of martial arts in korea, the hwarang beat china by themselves in a war, korean revolutionaries fought the japanese army, korean soldiers were known for being elite operators in the vietnam war, the list goes on. Sadly ignorant people dont wanna listen to facts.

That happened to me aswell, I was invited to this group chat and the kids from my class were being racist as well as saying Chinese slurs. What I can say is that racism shouldn't be normalized and don't be scared to stand up

i think us white people and the white supremacy perpetrated in our society is really responsible for all of those issues. thank you so much for sharing that part of your story that i imagine wasn't easy to talk about. i think it's our duty as white people to listen to stories of people of color and their struggles so that we can reflect on our own biases and educate the people around us. again thank you so much for filming this vulnerable video and i support you 100% on your journey of self love and embracing your own identity. i appreciate that you trust your audience enough to film those insightful videos that i think all of us can benefit from. love you!!

I know this video is 4 years old but I just wanted to say something to the entire Asian girl community. I’m very white (mostly Scottish and Swedish), but I distinctly remember going into the bathroom one day when I was in kindergarten and looking at myself in the mirror and pulling my eyes to get the ‘almond’ eye shape because I wanted to be beautiful like the Asian girls I had seen. It’s really amazing to me how I just genuinely thought that people with almond eyes were so beautiful i wanted to look like them at such a young age. Kind of a weird way to say this but I think that was really sweet of myself 😅

I am Asian too but I’m from Asia. I went to the UK for college. In college there was a girl in my class, she was born and grew up in the uk but she looks Asian no matter how much make up she put on. She deliberately speak so much louder to her white friends when a FOB (fresh off the boat lol) person was around, to let me hear her native English. She only hang out with white and avoid Asian people on purpose. She also does a lot of make up to look like a white person. At that time I just felt it was weird that she never Spoke a word with person who is also Asian. Only after a few years I gradually knew that the Asians who were born and grew up in uk or USA, they all pretty much have the self-hate issues and try every possible way to avoid anything Asian. That’s sad really. It only shows that this person is insecure. But living in a white dominated society and growing up being whitewashed, I can understand. I think only when a person become mature enough in their 30s or 40s, probably they will realize how immature and ridiculous they were
@callofthecthulhu4148 Жыл бұрын

@Gnomelander1400 Жыл бұрын
The whole idea that monolid/double eyelid is what makes us look asian is a myth. We look asian cause our eyes aren’t deepset or sunken like whites, Hispanics, Indians, etc . Deepset eyes are the lines around both the top and bottom of eyelid to appear bigger and protruding . We double eyelids only have lines in the top so it’s still bigger than monolid but not as big as the other non-Asian eyes so we still look small to them

As you get older and more experienced - you will realize how LUCKY you are to be an Asian female - pretty as well! Asian guys have it tougher as do all short men. And don't swallow the toxic "woke" "cultural appropriation" whingeing BS - there is nothing wrong with White or Black people "dressing up" in Asian or Native American costume. Nothing more divisive, intolerant nor inherently racist than CRT / DEI nonsense.
