Romania has companies that pay regularly 10-15% a year. Infact they pay the highest dividends in the world. And it's EU.

But EU is burdened with lame policies and beaurocracy. Not sure being in the EU is a selling point.

Very good point Tibor. The Romanian market has one of the lowest valuations in the world. Lower growth though, but safer.

@@jomo2483 what you just mentioned there has nothing to do with your stocks and gains.

Well even though you have a point. however if the stock bleeds 10% per annum. you made 0% dividends based on the value you put in. which isn't always the case but it has happened many times. so a constant 10％ is not always what it seems. but borrowing costs are low .... so you can take the adjusted risk.. Dividend plays are defensive, so are taxed. And the access to the Romanian market isn't easy for the average investor. Later it will be.

@The_Wandering _Investor don’t you think that especially in parts of the world that is considered volatile socially & politically (Africa - Latin America). Even if all the signs favor peace & stability, they still flow on a huge magnet of lava that is going to erupt sooner or later. Interesting to hear more on that.

Yes, you can find local brokers in all these markets, if you don’t want to choose the fund. Each country has its own rules for dividend taxes. The best way to find a broker is to go onto the official website of each stockmarket, and look for the list of official brokers.

A simple application form to fill out, getting your passport and utility bill certified, and then sending the scans per email. Easy.

Do you honestly believe the financials are correct in the African stock market. The valuation are crazy because no professional investor wants to give more than 1% - 5% exposure as a hedge. Capital control is huge issue my issue. It still needs 15 years to get to regulated fields after a number of bankruptcy and a lot of regulation. Floating currencies are useless, they lose too much value. but i guess a 1% exposure in a large cap African stock is worth it.

Nobody said to go all-in 🙂. I’m happy to have decent exposure. Capital controls are in place in some countries, so the fund rather focuses on those other markets.
