What draws me to Sonic the most is his integrity and his will to stick to his guns, no matter what anyone says or does. He encompasses freedom, the freedom to do anything, go anywhere and make every day feel like an adventure. Sonic is a symbol of hope.

As a kid, Sonic stood out to me because he was cool. His speed, design, and personality are all factors that make him so appealing to me. For the longest time, I never knew who my favorite character in the series was until I realized Sonic was the character that I was consistently drawn to the most. That made me sit and think why that was and I now know that his personality is a major reason for that. What I admire about Sonic so much is his confidence, compassion, and thrill-seeking nature. No matter what the situation is 9 times outta 10 this dude has a smile on his face. The amount of fun he has just by being free to do whatever he wants is so satisfying. The opening to Unleashed is a huge example of this. He doesn't doubt himself in the face of danger and will always do what he feels is right regardless of what others think. I adore the fact that by being himself he inspires his friends to grow. On top of that I love that he is loyal to his friends and will always be there to help them out. His adventurous spirit might be my favorite part of his character. He's always having fun in some way and living in the moment. Every adventure he goes on is exciting and I feel that he always makes the most of it. I'm currently in a phase where I'm rediscovering my passion and love for so many things and this includes the Sonic series. Sonic's character is really inspiring me now more than ever to just be myself and do what makes me happy. Not to be afraid of what others think and let yourself be free. While I wish I could've realized a lot of this sooner, I found a stronger appreciation for Sonic as a character and a series on a deeper level and I'm thankful for that.

Honestly, I think the reason I love Sonic is for the characters and the mentality of being who you are no matter what others think. Evan, could you do a video on the designs of the characters and what you think of the current designs, along with some more discussion livestreams about the series as a whole? What draws me to Sonic ( outside of the cool character designs and varied adventures) is his love of freedom. Sonic is unapologetically himself. He doesn't care for others' opinions about him. He goes about life on his terms, but he is always there to lend a helping hand no matter what. He is the wind, not binded by any shackles, that's inspiring . Sonic encourages us to be true to ourselves and that it's okay to have rough edges, as long as you aren't endangering yourself or others,and to inspire change for the better.

This may be my favourite episode of this series. You perfectly described what I as well love so much about Sonic. I grew up with this franchise, no other character is as near and dear to my heart as that blue hedgehog. Can't wait to hear your next discussions!

I think part of the appeal of Sonic is that it's an accessible way for people outside of Japan to experience shonen and anime storytelling. The stories of Sonic games often have many tropes and a style that belongs in an anime,when people think of Sonic nowadays,some see it as a shonen series due to it's origin in Japan being tied to its identity. Despite Sonic not being that popular in Japan,the shonen and anime side of Sonic is part of the reason why he resonates with so many people,and is something that most games similar to Sonic just don't have.

I like Sonic because of how relatable most of the characters are. There's a little piece for everyone to say *they're just like me* Sonic gets you hooked on exploring & adventuring. Even through the bad times, he still comes out on top. That is something to be admired.

When I was younger, the reason I liked Sonic was because: 1. My favorite color is blue 2. His personality set himself apart from other mascots Now that I am 31, the biggest reason I keep finding myself drawn back to Sonic is how he embodies Freedom: living life bound by nothing but his own beliefs is something I respect😎💯

A lot of people I know online question why I love Sonic so much and talk down on me because from their perspective just looking at the character, it looks like your average kids franchise that's all sunshine and rainbows and everything that you would associate with your average kids franchise but that's so far from the truth. Yes there are games and other multi media pieces of work that are like that in the series but when you get deep into the characters and lore and their motives, it's pretty God damn deep and that's what I adore. I love that Sonic is the personification of freedom, I love the darker story elements like Maria, Gerald Robotnik, GUN, The Echidna Clan, Perfect Chaos, The Biolizard, Dark Gaia, all of these complex characters and entities that are either sad or evil. Never stop doing these man, I love your content and I watched your stuff all the way back when I was just a little kid during the release of Colors and Generations.

One thing that always struck me about Sonic, as simple as it is, is his color. Usually in a series like this, the main character would be a brighter, warmer color. Look at Transformers, Power Rangers, Dragon Ball, et cetera. But Sonic is blue, which is NOT a color you see for the headliner. You can get deep into this with color theory and stuff, but on a basic level, it always made him stand out. So much so, SEGA’s been historically gun shy about making other blue characters in the series. Also, “content with the chaos” is a good channel slogan :p

To me the guy is just cool, you take a look at him and he just has this vibe of "I'm the coolest guy in the room without even trying", plus the speed aspect is really unique to this day, outside of car racers (and even that is pretty different) there isn't any other franchise out there that is focused on speed the way Sonic is, he is still so unique as a character and franchise to this day.

Oh how funny, I was just talking about sonic's characterization like 8 minutes ago. There are many official versions of sonic the hedgehog that people grew up with. But, some of them are fake. Some of these are not the real sonic. The real sonic has been missing since Black Knight (literally 15 years ago). If I was in the sonic team and I would've been the guy that gives restrictions and explanations for Sonic, I would simply give the writers one A4 paper that has smt written like this: Sonic protects the nature, Sonic is an epitome of freedom and he gives freedom to everyone, Sonic doesn't think of himself as a hero, he just lives by his own feelings, Sonic is an adventurous spirit, he is always taking action and he travels where the wind blows him, Sonic rarely makes any jokes, these jokes should fit his character and the situation he got himself into, Sonic is an epitome for good itself, he is hope, hapiness and every other positive feeling that makes others feel better, Sonic in his heart loves and cares for everyone, he even forgives evil (the reason why he never kills Eggman), Sonic never cries or gives up, and he should never fail, Sonic understands other's feelings, he emphatizes with everyone and he always helps the ones in physical/emotional pain. everything else like him being snarky is optional.

This is BS. Sonic has been interpreted in many different ways, and all of them are real in their own way. Calling them "fake" is stuck up. Crap like this is why the Sonic fandom is considered the worst.
