Why I’m an RN BUT, I Still Work as an LPN| Make it Make Sense NurseB

As an agency nurse I still pick up shifts as a LPN even though I’ve had an RN license for almost a year.

I started at the hospital in psych as an LPN in 2013. When I became an RN in 2020, my job did not change but my pay sure did. In my hospital there was not a financial advantage to having a BSN. I might have needed one to go into management, but I didn't want to go into that area. I've been traveling for 2 years and I haven't needed a BSN for that. These titles in nursing do not always make sense.

BSN was pushed to make hospitals look better. It’s sad because it costs SO much more to get your BSN compared to ADN and you get paid pennies more…

@@yourfavnurseb9699 doesn’t this vary in each state ? I’ve been hearing Cali and NYC are getting paid more well with BSN’s .. I think 1k more but then again cost of living is higher. Correct me if I’m wrong though..

I have sat for NCLEX Exam for the 9th time now and still failed , i guess licence isn't meant for people like me🤦‍♂️💔😥

After using uworld twice and failing, I never knew i could ever pass the NCLEX but today I am very happy, I just passed my NCLEX on my third attempt with a great help from Miss ELISABETH HELEN.

My thing is when my brain 🧠 was listening to you explain everything - I said “Oh! Of course RN makes more cause they working with peoples veins.” Bloodwork, anything like that your gonna make bank. But LPN based on the money stats you gave (maybe depending where you live?) you would be comfortable. I make 30$ a hour as a home health aide now. lol ❤ soooo I might consider LPN - and be that. I’ll be practicing all my life anyways cause working someone’s blood I couldn’t do it chile I’d be too busy hollering screaming 😂 😅 (I get very anxious with needles all that.) I saw a RN push medicine on my client today through IV and my heart SUNK! 😅 LPN for me!

There’s so much to nursing that you don’t have to work with blood if you don’t want, heck there are nurses who don’t even work with patients. Also LPNs can draw blood, start IVs etc as well. Just looking into what job setting and skill set you want to have. You can definitely find what fits you

Hey lady..new Lpn here. Like I just passed nclexpn last week. Im so afraid to sign a contract cuz I be needing off. Any advice? Im in Tx and have a compact license

Yay! Are the places you are applying to only hiring if you sign a contract? I haven’t had experience signing one as a LPN. But if they do require it see if you can opt out of signing one, some will do this if you turn down a sign on bonus (you won’t have to sign a contract)

Probably not but contact and see or just apply and see. They might hire you as a RN but pay you as a LPN if that’s what you want

They also get away with it because they consider the patient stable once they leave the hospital and discharged to a long term care facility. So they say that once in the nursing home and the LVN is doing the assessment, they don’t consider that the initial assessment. IKR crazy huh. I always said why the hell im doing the initial assessment as a Lvn 🧐.

You can pay the IRS quarterly. There’s apps that can help you figure out how much you may owe

So question my mom works as a lpn but she told me she wants to be a rn but she said it’s a lot of money and I wanted to know is there any programs does she have to pay off tuition as a lpn first to start or she can start and if so how much of money and schooling would it be ?

Hi, she should look at what schools are in her area. See if they have an LPN to RN bridge program. A program won’t stop her from attending because she had a loan but if she can’t get a loan or doesn’t have enough financial aid to go to school she may need to pay out of pocket.
