Keep in mind that the two Power 4 teams in Utah put 115,000 in the seats on a fall Saturday. That’s higher than UCLA and USC combined. People in Utah are sports crazy. With a highly concentrated population.

I think something that makes us able to support so many teams is how easy it is for 2.5 million people to get around. It’s literally a 45 minute drive to downtown for all these people. Other places like the bay have plenty of people but it can be a major pain to get around. Salt lake has really, really fast freeways and a couple different alternatives for driving too. So it’s really easy to catch a game.

Jealous of your light traffic. I live in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and it's stop and go in and around the whole area from about 8am to 7pm on weekdays, and lighter but no 60 mph all the way on weekends either.

Utah resident. I started watching the channel when news was breaking of the A’s moving to Vegas. Then all the rumblings started happening with the coyotes and Utah getting an nhl and mlb team. So all that ended up being an added bonus for me. I think what people don’t understand about “can we support mlb, nhl, and nba?” There is no doubt in my mind that there would be a lot of fans of all the teams. The problem comes when October/november rolls around. Will Utah and byu football as well as the Jazz and Utah hockey club and real salt lake be able to fill their stadiums when they’re playing on the same weekend? Then you add in mlb to the mix and as much as I’d love to have all the sports teams I don’t see it happening

The MLB team would make it 4. I would love all 4 teams here, but the question about it being sustainable is a very valid one especially with rising inflation and tighter budgets, but we will see. It is an exciting time though.

If you haven't road tripped along Eastern Utah, you're missing out on the National Park tour. Utah has more than just Zion's National Park. You can actually start at Arches National Park east of SLC, through Canyonlands National Park, then through Bryce Canyon National Park and complete at Zions National Park down by St. George. I've been to 45 of the 50 States and there is nothing like it in the world if you are a fan of beautiful scenery.

The question to me is what the corresponding population growth plan is. Is Utah doing what Alberta does and running ads on various media platforms to try and attract people to move to the state? If they're doing that, or they're trying to attract industry, or doing something else to encourage growth, then the odds become a lot better that they can support 3 teams.

Predictions: If the A's get a new ballpark built in Vegas, Utah gets the expansion team in the west. If A's don't get the Vegas ballpark built, they''ll stay in Sac (Vivek wants an MLB team there and I think he'll help Fisher out again re. a new MLB ballpark), another Vegas group will enter and get the job done so Vegas gets the expansion team in the west, and Utah will have to look for a future relocation situation.

Yes, I would like you to keep making videos on Utah sports. I don't know anything about Utah, but because the Coyotes situation [mainly caused by their owner(s), let's be honest] was so...untenable...I was willing to root for anyone who would save those poor NHL players from their fate as Coyotes. Now, your videos are the main ways I learn about the state, the new (?) franchise, and what is going on; your coverage of this has been amazing, and I hope you keep it up, because up here in BC Canada the only other way to hear anything about the Utah Hockey Club is when their NHL team takes the ice, but you provide much more info than that. You're doing good work, and I really feel like the Utah (BliZZard) Hockey Team should put out some feelers into hiring you in some way, shape, or form!

the most popular sports team for the last 50 or so years in Salt Lake City is not a professional team (thou college sports players are now becoming pros) , but professional teams are gaining more popularity all the time...the University of Utah football team is and has been king for decades

Living in Colorado, I'm excited for the sports future of SLC, especially MLB. As a former Sacramento resident, I hope SLC gets an expansion team and Sac keeps the A's. Baseball is an outdoor game and Vegas is just too hot in the summer for MLB. They'll have an NBA team soon and the Golden Knights are very successful and supported, so they're not going to be missing out from a pro sports perspective. If you’re going to place blame on a relocation, it’s virtually always on the old city or ownership, never the new. Utah didn’t “poach” anything. There was NO WAY Arizona could last three more years (at least) in a 4,000 seat venue, and nowhere else for them to go in greater Phoenix. They were doomed and SEG rescued them.

Brodie- You crack me up. What do I need to do to get you in Salt Lake County? My son has a couple of lower bowl ½ season tickets. Have you checked the price of season tickets for the Utah Hockey Club? SLC already supports 3 Professional Teams- NBA- Jazz / NHL - Hockey Club / MLS- Real. MLB would be a 4th team (Along with the Angels MiLB Bees). We prefer our own over taking another city's team. A lot of us really felt for the NHL fans. But if they are moving anyway either to SLC or elsewhere, then we will accept it. Now that you have Wasatch Front down, do you want to try pronouncing the nearby city of Tooele?

I’m loving your coverage on Utah, but I’m biased since I live in the Wasatch Front🤷🏼‍♀️I laugh every time you say FRONT😂 My 15 year old grandson had to leave Utah a few years ago with his family (huge sacrifice) in order to pursue his hockey dreams; so glad they could do this for him. He has had amazing success playing hockey in Chicago and was picked for the Junior Olympics 2024 in Korea where Team USA won GOLD! He has just been drafted by the WHL to play for the MHTigers, so he’s off to Canada in August at the tender age of 15. I’d love to send you his very first press interview that took place last week in MH. Send me your email and I’ll send you his info if your interested in interviewing the first kid from Utah to win Gold in the Olympics. Also we are immigrants to the US so for our family he is first generation American and we are enormously proud of him representing the USA and wearing the jersey. Love your channel!

He won't own the MLB team if Utah gets one. Owning the Delta Center, Jazz, and NHL team puts him in a sweet spot. The key will be signing big name players and/or keeping them from moving to bigger cities.

Utahn here, I will say Utah shows up for sports teams. Lets be honest, the Jazz stink and they sell out every single game. The Utes and Cougers in 50,000 seat stadiums, sell out every single game and the fact you can pretty much visit Salt Lake in less than an hour driving from the the surrounding cities, I promise Attendence will not be an issue :)

We warned you this would happen, Brodie. Consider yourself officially pimped out... 😃...You are now a citizen of the world. "5 star hotel"? You do remember you work for NBC, right?... 🤣...To your point about the A's, yeah it's possible that the A's end up in Salt Lake, but it would have to be with the A's decapitating the present owner out of the equation. The Miller Group won't put up with Fisher and his BS, so any overture, other than the offer to "caretake" the A's for a "few years until Vegas" would likely be straight to MLB, not Fisher before he shipwrecks the A's. And with Renedive in the mix, I don't see that happening either. We still don't know what's happening with the RSN and the A's NorCal contract... 🤔...and a lot of what happens with the A's going forward will hinge upon that...I've always thought hockey would do well in Utah, but the Water Bottles should strive to pull off a "Nordiques" moment, wherein they win a Cup straight off the plane...One thing about this Utah business that bothers me though is the fuzzy math numbers we seem to be getting out of SLC. For instance, how can you sell what, 34,000 season tickets for an arena that only holds like 14,500? What is that, a raffle?... 🤔...And the financing seems to be a little more nuanced than just the state giving everybody $900m to play with. SLC getting saddled with a billion plus worth of revenue bonds for a city of 200,000 population (not all of them taxpayers) seems a bit of a stretch. Yes, you have Bonneville Capital and the Church itself (which let's face it, is one of the largest untaxed corporations in the world) to kinda, sorta backstop the whole thing, but I doubt either of those entities are going to be listed on any financing documents involving either hockey or baseball...I can say very succinctly why you are covering Salt Lake, and Phoenix, and Las Vegas - and Tampa, and Chicago, and Kansas City, and Milwuakee, and St. Louis, etc., etc., etc. It's because the Earth is shaking underneath professional sports. Not just Oakland, but EVERYWHERE. This frothy atmosphere of unlimited money is fast coming to an end, and these crises in teams are just the tip of the iceberg. They're all going to find that the big proverbial beer mugs they've been drinking from, with foam oozing out the top, is really only a quarter to a third full. The betting scandals are just getting started, the advertising and income mechanics are getting really weird for all the leagues now (a lot of us aren't just cutting the cord, we're cutting all ties with certain sports, as I have with Baseball, and probably will with football too with the stupid rule changes they just put in). Fan loyalty is being tested, if not outright destroyed (as is the case with MLB) and trying to extort still more money from fans to give more money to players and owners in a static or retracting economy just isn't going to fly...So keep up what you're doing with the wide net. There are a lot of myopic people in the sports world. The Mike Greenbergs of the sports world aren't going to tell these stories. They'll keep up the blah, blah, blah about Aaron Judge and their precious Yankees. Homers abound, and very few understand the RNA shifts happening in sports these days. You separate the wheat from the chaff. And that ability is sorely needed EVERYWHERE. TBH, I'd like to see you and some of your contemporaries take up the mantle and fill the void left by the shutdown of Real Sports, Outside the Lines, and their spearheads Bryant Gumbel and Bob Ley...
