Some constructive feedback about this video that I liked very much: I get that this is a recurring joke that you do and they have been funny in the past. But - and I truly mean this, and not in a "I'm watching this at midnight and so everything feels more deep and more personally touching than it actually is" kind of way - *This is genuinely good poetry* Up until the end it carried genuine meaning and you could have very easily turned this into a serious poem. And I truly believe that this is something that you could do and maybe even *should* explore next to your comedy - which is excellent ;-) But you obviously have a talent for poetry as well, albeit only explored in the context of comedy so far - which is fine of course. I guess all I'm saying is: Do more of this. Maybe without it having to be comedic for a change? Or maybe if it is comedic try going through with it till the end and actually incorporate the punchline into the poem, instead of making "the poem abruptly ending and juxtaposing the meaningful contents of it with an obviously mundane and common phobia" the joke. I know that you can do that. And I of course also know that you don't need anyone to tell you what to do - let alone a random stranger. You are doing great and will go far. It's just my way too long comment because I really liked this poem. Hoping to "Not having a Cent left to spend" at old age was the line that really hit me. Great job.

I was just thinking this. Matt could definitely have some sort of future in emotive writing. You are really talented Matthew. However, I think snakes are arguably scarier than big bugs. Although spiders do quite scare me. In summary: I am weak. Back to the point. I conclude that Matthew is good at comedy. Matthew is also good at feelings.

What scares me most is not death or dying, not heights, not flying, not loss, not growing up, nor regret from not trying. And even though they all can be terrifying, they aren't what scares me most. What scares me most is not failure, rejection, or never again feeling genuine connection. I'm fearful of love, but just as all the above, it isn't what scares me most. I never want to see friends closest to me stop smiling if their paths become a little unclear. Nor do I, in five years, want to bumble into mom and dad's basement bathroom and see a flop standing in the mirror. It's weird that all I formerly feared seems so slight. Loud noises and light confrontation, standing on stage for my first graduation, a pretty first-world fear, first gear, but for some, as far as it gets. And that's fine. Just, I hope that if I'm lucky enough to reach gray and old, and a little less bold, alright, when I have nothing but to recall the past, I hope that by then, I've not a cent left to spend, or else I'd be truly aghast. But then is then, and then is not now, so dwelling on then would be vain. Better to just do it all now so when then comes around, I can sit, live now all over again. But other things still scare me more. Losing my dog, discovering that I'm not good enough, just falling off the edge of the coast. But none of that comes close to what scares me most, because what scares me most is like big bugs. You know when bugs are just huge, like they're flapping, they're creepy. Yeah, I can't stand big bugs. Am I right? Am I right? God, they're so gross. What are we talking about?

Matt, you really deserve much more attention than the one you've got. I get really happy seeing your numbers getting bigger (pp size hasnt increased though) and more and more people getting driven to this channel. In videos like that, one can appreciate a lot of dedication and effort, a lot of time dedicated to the thought; one can see a work of art, a punchline that, besides being actually funny, does not take away the deepness of the main speech. A mind can experience sadness and be driven directly to happiness in one single video; although the laugh may care some yet-to-come reflection. This kind of content is sparse, and earlier in this earth would be treated as it should. Hope to see you as big and popular as you deserve friend matthew, thanks!

It's always now, Matt.... Garter snakes. They're innocuous enough, but I am forced to dance every time one crosses my path. Did it twice in a row when the first one appeared right around the bend from a first one I met on a lonely asphalt path, the second one obviously pregnant and moving slow without a single indication it wanted to harm me. I did the brain dance both times, choreographed with the same exact moves (moves I couldn't replicate consciously if I tried), something between an Olympic quadruple Salchow and you meeting a really big jumping insect, involving spinning and moving all my limbs erratically. But the same exact neurological dance each time. Observers told me that. From my vantage point I was just the center post in a merry-go-round that had stripped it's gears and whose horses weren't fond of snakes either. Don't be scared, Matt, subbed from the West Coast, USA. Enjoy your original take on the world. It's there for the picking, but it's you that's picking it. We enjoy your friends' contributions, too. We've decided they all must be very intelligent...or something, but they get points for helping you out like good friends do.
