Since I have learned how to save, invest, and put my money to work to increase my income, I am not worried of losing my job as an RN (registered nurse) or leaving my employment. I want freedom to live my life as I see fit, not just financial gain.

I am a doctor and I hate it! If the timings were more normal, then it would be bearable. But we have 32 hours call every 3rd day! Its like one day im post call and then the very next day I am pre call again!! I feel so tired all the time. It was like I was dying to be a doctor and now that I am, I hate it I hate it I hate it.

what specialty? Because if you are going into something that will require this time in perpetuity, then change fields. I hate my job as a physician and I know a lot about medicine. My cousin and uncle and sister-in-law are derm, my brother-in-law is ortho, one brother is plastics, another brother urology, my sister occ med, another brother in law anesthesiology, and my cousin is anesthesiology. Things will get better after you graduate so hang in there. But, long-term pick the right practice and rent before you buy a home. See if you like your practice, call, pay, partners etc before you lock in living in one place. Little things like this count for long-term happiness. Personally, I have gotten to the point of hating human nature ( which is unhealthy for me and my patients but too long to explain) and the endless red tape required. I wish you good luck!

Hi, I'm a doctor from Turkey and doing specialty in family medicine. You are absolutely right about the things you have told. I'm feeling and thinking the same for some time. In addition to classical difficulties that we have naturally, we are facing insult, threatening and violence from the patients. Some doctors even died. Doctors, healers had always been precious for centuries. But nowadays, we are facing the most hard times for doing this job. Governments use us as a cheap workers which we have to stand up for! We have founded doctor unions and protesting this countrywide. We are valuable and human, we have one life. Things we live doesn't worth for doing this job. Dreamers who wanna be a doctor must think twice. Best wishes.

Luckily he doesn’t live in Spain, where R1 (idk how is in the uk, maybe F1. I mean first year residents) have a salary of 1,2k monthly euros and work more than 40h a week… there are a lot of strikes… UNEMPLOYEMENT. Me, as a future doctor, would like to go to the UK to be a doctor

If i moved from part-time to fulltime as an executive assistant at my company i work for while in med school, with no qualifications, i'd earn more than you do as a FY1 in england. Luckily the australian contract is a bit higher, but its still difficult to justify

I work overnight shift at a psychiatric hospital. It is a struggle in terms of proper sleep. I get off at 7:30am and go straight to bed when I get home. However, I still wake up early around 11am despite my efforts to try to sleep in at least until early afternoon. Which I usually have to be back to work at 7 pm for my next 12 hr shift...
