Dear Izzy, I am not that kind of viewers that usually comment and I haven't been a subscriber of yours- until now, that is! But I have come across your videos every now and then over the years, since you were still in training, and I'd always watched and finished most of the videos with great joy and enjoyment. This video really gives me an urge to write down this note as comments, in return for the many lunchtime/nighttime relaxations that your videos have provided to me (and hopefully many others) over the years. Firstly, massive congrats on your massive exciting life chapters ahead (despite I know they come with their own challenges and struggles!), and how reflective and brave you are along the way. The one thing I love about all of your content that I've watched (can't say that I've watched all of them, but I definitely have watched the more popular ones and the ones with less view counts!) is the calmness and depth you've shown no matter how niche or how stressful the topics may be, there's always a part of your personality that shines through and I love how much you try to deliver the content with the smile! Secondly, I always think that the life path that you have chosen is, while very worthwhile and would be super valuable for both you and you family, and the community, but it's definitely something that takes a very driven and persevere person not to give up long before now :P That's also what your channel resonates with me personally as sometimes I feel like I see a bit of myself in your content or the choices you've shared on your channel. But if this feeling is true to some extent, I also know that sometimes we can feel very anxious about not having a clear set of plans or when we aren't sure whether we have the strength to achieve the goals we initially sets, or, when we see no other choices but our path just suddenly decides to take a turn! These experience would be intensified by significant life events (like the ones you are going through atm!), even if the events themselves are supposed to be some joyful ones. But over the years what I've learnt after learning to live with myself and love myself is that, not only is it okay to be anxious/pondering/stressed at these times, but these experience (albeit unpleasant), could have great values. To ourselves, these emotions and feelings provide the self-regenerating drives and motivations to keep going. They also foster a sense of reflectivity within ourself to truly listen to our mind and body and understand when we should plough along and when it's okay to pause. I think this would be crucial if we want to be more impactful in the society, or to help anyone either clinically, professionally or just on a friendly level! (just like you said, we'd need to fill our cup first!). Moreover, I also unexpectedly found that being upfront with these personal feelings and emotions can actually bring a lot of ease to the ones around us. As I guess people only see part of other's lives and so most people (inc. myself) usually miss the parts that others didn't share (which usually is when they are struggling), and thus they look so capable and "on it" when actually it might not be the whole story. Being able to be honest about these feelings and letting people know that we are on the same boat can actually bridge very unexpected connections and in some moments, I've found that to be the source of comfort that my friends have benefited (and that I have benefited from the sharing of so many others, including yourself)!. This is too long now so I promise I will stop here. But please know that no matter what you are doing now or what you are going to do next, or what was your take on all the previous choices you've made, they have been a genuine and joyful source of comfort that I have had the pleasure to enjoy for so long. Love you and best wishes!

Some people do also want to have a career and have kids at the same time as well as capable to go back to work asap. You just couldn't hack the hospital world as a doctor, that's okay for you to be a mother instead of giving that career a go.
@chenangel2539Ай бұрын
@ @ absolutely, there are individual differences on a range of internal and external factors including capacity to do something, and these can all change from time to time for an individual depending on circumstances. I think it takes a lot mentally and cognitively to reflect and find out what’s the best route for ourselves going forward. So I think everyone who’s been able to be honest and brave about their choices and the reasonings behind them should be commended
@rajithapillai7990Ай бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective on having kids. I have 2 kids aged 2 and 4 and working as a software engineer. I have been feeling so depressed this last year as my peers have excelled in their careers but i am stuck where i was 5 years ago and trying to reskill/change jobs is proving impossible right now as I am always busy. For every career failure I kept thinking it's because I started my family, I should have delayed it etc etc. But what a beautiful perspective that I am building the next generation, I am filling other people's cups and that is an important job that I am blessed to have too. Hearing you talk about that, my heart filled with joy. This whole year of regretting my career choices had been heavy on my chest for a while and it lifted a lot. Thank you ❤️
@BugsyB1979Ай бұрын
I know it's hard - I lost my whole career. But you know, this work is eternal work. It's what we're here for. Let go of the negative feelings and embrace who and where you are. I am a Catholic, and one verse always helps me in difficult moments. "Give thanks in all circumstances for this is the God's will for you through Christ Jesus" 1 Thessalonians 5:18. ❤

I feel you so much. I am a developer too and a mum to be and I question my career choices everyday. My colleagues (90% of them are male) are advancing in their careers and meanwhile I feel like I should be studying/doing small projects whilst being on mat leave. The feeling of guilt is real 😢
@rajithapillai7990Ай бұрын
@@paulina7497 Congrats 🎉 I definitely understand how you are feeling but at the same time, enjoy whatever mat leave you have with baby and take time to heal. If you feel up to it, study when baby sleeps but if not, don't feel guilty. Kids grow so fast, i guarantee you will not regret spending more time with your child, especially the first one. If you have more kids, after delivery time is very busy. So definitely don't spend mat leave over thinking about work. You can do that once you join back

I think speaking from my perspective, as a viewer, just getting to see ‘behind the curtain’, as it were, is what I like to see. When Ali hard launched that he was married, it immediately raised curiousity, who did he marry? How /when did they meet? How did they know it was ‘forever’? Why the move to Hong Kong? Then I also saw he hard launched the baby, then saw you had posted a video. Sharing as much as you feel comfortable with, about daily life etc, and your thoughts/feelings-I think this appeals to viewers like me. Good luck with all the major life events!

This makes me so happy. Congratulations from Atlanta, Ga. I’ve enjoyed Ali’s channel and because of his channel I found yours. When you went missing, I had a feeling I knew why. ☺️ Thrilled for you both. I’m now an empty nester and a grandmother. I’ve always felt that motherhood was one of the most important roles that there is. I have no regrets having devoted my life to raising my 3 kids. But you are right, it’s been a sad thing to see this role reduced, or treated like it’s a side hustle rather than the fulfilling 24/7 job that it is. Your testimony and perspective give me hope that your generation is returning to a rock solid understanding of the importance of family, and of being in service to one another. And how that strong dynamic ultimately serves humanity well. I wish you both the very best happiness. ❤

You are right about reboot. This is the first time I watch your video because my teenage kids follow you and Ali…..congrats on the new arrival (and thank you on the acknowledgement on motherhood). We are in Hong Kong too so my kids were thrilled. Your reflection is very insightful! I think I can pick up some tips. In terms of struggle, maybe minor for me. I am at a different stage in life, as I am approaching empty nest. So pondering my next stage in life, after becoming a stay at home mum for my kids the last 15 years. Quitting being corporate banker and a full time mum was the most fulfilling job, but now I need to move on. Still don’t have an answer and procrastinating and laziness comes in the way. So we will see. Take care of yourself, Hong Kong can be great but also brutal to new comers. But you sound like you have a strong soul, and do not hesitate to shout out when you need anything. Motherhood and HK are my forte

I may be a small population of viewers, but I am a recently married first year medical resident who is 8 months pregnant. I would love to hear about the way you are navigating marriage, medicine, and motherhood since it is so difficult to find this overlap in identities! It has been a unique challenge to start off as a resident while pregnant, managing the hours working, learning curve of moving to a new city, and all the pregnancy symptoms. But I feel these are all my callings, so I keep showing up (even if not at 100% in all categories every day). Regardless, looking forward to your future videos whatever they may be about! I think the videos I love most on youtube are about how people are navigating their unique life challenges, balancing their commitments, how they are working through off days and feelings, what tools they are using to build the life they are dreaming about, what those dreams are. I suppose even if someone might not have the exact same story as you (whether in career type, relationship status, dreams, etc.), the themes of human life seem to be applicable to everyone and are on repeat in the world. So it is always valuable to hear about how someone is navigating the unique parts of their life story. Congratulations to all your exciting updates. Will be praying for you and your family.

I relate to your pregnancy update, and I've been reflecting on my values/aspirations! Working in corporate in San Francisco, it's a similar mindset you're describing of career-oriented and socially appropriate after at least 5-10 years in the career before having children. My husband and I figured it would take probably at least 6-12 months of trying, but we also found out we were pregnant right after our honeymoon this summer! I'm in second trimester right now, and I've had such bad pregnancy symptoms that I had to take sick days off work - and I feel guilty for how my productivity has dropped due to exhaustion/pain/sickness. Income generation and financial security are values that I've clung to for most of my life, and I'm reshaping my values during this pregnancy to prioritize more about my health and time. Because not many people die regretting that they didn't spend enough time in their career - I think people tend to realize that the time cherished with friends and family was what they really longed for.

Not to sound alarming, but the first year is really hard, it takes a toll on health and the relationship, especially with two ambitious parents. Brace yourself for it, and as you said, lots of self compassion for yourself and for each other. what has helped us is to have a community of new parents to relate to. and we started nursery at 6 months old, this has helped a lot as well! good luck to both of you and enjoy!

Hi Izzy. I'm fairly new to your channel and have only seen a few videos (namely the first 6 months experience in medicine) but I really appreciated the views you presented on motherhood as that has been a complex concept in today's society of girl bosses and career women. All the best in your journey of motherhood and welcome back!

And I have felt soooo heartbroken at how lost I am with all my work and I just clicked on this video to see what you've been up to and it, surprisingly, was a MASSIVE help to me. You mentioned how there is a valid and rational reason as to why we are not giving our 100% and that it's okay and we should talk to ourselves as we would to a friend in need. I also liked when you mentioned enjoyment is efficiency. Glad you’re back. Just fyi or someone hasn’t mentioned it yet, there’s constant static playing throughout the entire video or at least it’s present in the first 10 min while I’m typing this out

Congratulations :o) Great to see you back. I'm sure whatever direction you choose with KZbin, that you'll make it successful. I don't think it's so much about what you choose to do, it's you that people are tuning in for. I totally identify though about all the concerns and pressure social media can bring into our lives. It can become a bit love, hate. Maybe just get back to it being more on the love side of things and then that should come across in the videos. God bless you and your new husband :o) I'm sure your future looks bright, even mores now that you are a team. I totally agree too about how belittled the role of motherhood is in today's society, and the role of fatherhood for that matter. It's refreshing to hear your views on that.

Don´t compare yourself with others. Just work on yourself and try to improve to be the person you would love to be friend with. 19 years is very young. You have your whole life to work.

So happy you're back. Congratulations! I'm looking forward to listening to you mumbling again, it makes me feel like I'm talking to a friend. The first time I watch your video, I felt a connection with you and I saw a genuine person. I was actually wondering what have you been up to when you were on hiatus, I checked out you're IG and I was so happy to see you got married. Congratulations!

I'm favoured only God knows how much I praise Him, $230k every 4weeks! I now have a big mansion and can now afford anything and also support God’s work and the church.

I remember giving her my first saved up $20000 and she opened a brokerage account with it for me, it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me.

You are just a breath of fresh air here on KZbin - love your soft nature, intelligence and fierceness that all show in your character. Ali got the full package and quite frankly, so did you. You're right - being a parent is hands down the most important and fulfilling thing you will ever do. I don't know you but I am proud of you and Ali and I wish you a happy and fruitful future with your little bean. 🥰

Congratulations on everything, Izzy! I’m so glad you’re back. I watched this video all the way through and was completely hooked…❤❤❤, it was so soothing to watch and felt so genuine. I’d love to see more content like this. Ali is truly blessed to have you in his life!. Whenever I face challenges in my own life, I often think about how “Izzy” or “Lana Blakely” might handle the situation, and it inspires me to approach it with the same calmness and thoughtfulness. Being a doctor myself, I can relate to many of your thoughts. I really admire the positivity and depth you bring to your videos…🙌🏻. Looking forward to your future videos….❤

Congratulations on these new chapters in your life! I'm so happy to see u back on KZbin. Topics that I'd love to see in your channel: how do you conciliate everything in your life (love, studies, now motherhood, etc), how do you find your priorities in life/how was your journey and discovering things now, what advice you'd like to receive earlier. Kisses from Brazil 💛

amazing insight, I say feminism has a massive role in this viewpoint you once had, not saying you yourself was a feminist but in the academic scene you will for sure get exposure to it.
