I am just gonna put it bluntly. Some people just full out power trip when they are put in a position of power. That is a serious problem especially with a company such as pokemon. That judge should not have been put in that position. In vancouver regionals last year their were 2 judges I saw being quite aggressive over a spectator standing in the wrong area during a round was beginning. The spectator genuinely had no idea and the judges treated him very poorly.

Same exact thing happened to me at Worlds last year as a spectator, I contacted customer support right after and they apologised for the situation, as spectators are there to spectate and support the event, hobby and people, not just be a source of money and be mistreated.

I got permission to film from the head of staff, but one of the judges found it personally awful that I was doing vlogs and wanted to have a dad conversation with me. Was kinda weird.

This is honestly very disheartening as a new competitive player. Situations like this and the one mentioned in your video are the reasons people don't want to attend tournaments. You shouldn't have to walk on eggshells and be in fear of something very absurd like this happening at a tournament.

As someone that was at San Antonio and goes to events frequently, it's frustrating to hear this happened, but it does sound like there was some sensitive information about the emergency situation, and where in Pokemon there is specifically having a history where people lack empathy about upsetting situations, it's really hard to provide the benefit of the doubt. An organizer's job is to prioritize the needs of the many, and when you could end it by removing the issue and continuing with the event, it doesn't make this any less upsetting, but it's difficult for everyone to ensure empathy the whole time

What a rollercoaster, but a really nice video the way you talked about it. Usually people really try to play the symphaty card and just blame everything on everyone, but you really tried to take away what you could have done (except with Bob, cause you just couldnt do anything there except not go behind the curtains). Thank you for sharing your lessons with us, will for sure help me in the future. (Also wtf why is it normal the way the air companies do things, like overbooking their flights. I have no commercial airplane experience because I live in Europe and we usually travel by car/train/bus. But that's seriously insane! That's definitely not a great experience. Honestly, you should file an official complaint to TPCI. Judges, staff, and an official rep should act with much more professionalism. There should be a review on how they handle situations, and clearly, there has to be accountability for judges.

That's a wild story! It really sucks to get accused of something you didn't do, especially when they wont listen to you in the heat of the moment. Bro this sucks, I hate you had to experience this. I actually had something very similar happen, I was shuffling my opponents deck and their sleeves started to stick together and wouldn’t fold properly, I didn’t want to mess up their sleeves so I looked down quickly to make sure I wasn’t messing up his stuff, then he proceeded to cuss me out and accuse me of cheating. I told him to call a judge and he didn’t. I hate when you are trying to have fun and then your opponent gets upset and starts making accusations. You are an awesome dude and an awesome player! I’m so sorry this happened to you. It’s hard to believe with how well mannered and nice you always are. I think Pokémon needs to do a better job hiring staff for these events. There were issues earlier this year where someone was accused of cheating and it basically came down to staff picking favorites and just doing a bad job. Also, when you give some people any amount of power they tend to abuse it and it sucks. They should be fired for treating you like that. Completely unacceptable behavior from staff. Do better(whoever hires these people) you need to remember his name and post it here so we can get him fired. This is traumatic shit to go through. Especially so far from home. This person should NEVER hold power.

I was waiting for this video because I really wanted to know the whole situation in detail. When you’re accused of something, it’s always also hard to prove people wrong even tho you didn’t do the thing that you were accused of because when someone is pretty much sure of something, the person will believe in himself and so then he thinks that what you’re saying isn’t true. The event was about bringing people together and have a great time, not confronted by a head staff about something you didn’t do wrong. I appreciate hearing your side of the story. I really feel that the judge was on a power trip. Vlogging is commonly done and, frankly, is free advertising for the event. If they don’t want you to film these situations then there should be clear postings saying so. And it’s highly likely that every single shot that you have will have a similar judge situation in the far background. It was clearly a power trip that he escalated and didn’t know how to get out of (hence the talk behind the curtain). It’s a bad reflection on the event staff really.

I had a similar issue with United but the difference is the app wouldn't let me check in early which was my whole plan. The issue I had too was the reason I booked that flight was what I was doing was time sensitive. So the scramble to get a flight that would get me to where I needed to go was stressful. The worker at the desk was literally no help either. My fiance had to literally look up airports in the general area of where I needed to go and have to ask the guy if they had flights going there and when.

United airlines is the worst traveling company ever. I'm French, I had to use it to travel from Paris to Guatemala. A 16hrs travel turned into a 56hrs nightmare. We were stucked at NYC, we had no support, we had to find out by ourselves that we needed to go from an airport to an other at NYC. Finally they booked a new plane for us in an other company... But when we registered the other company just said "who are you guys?"... haha, Nightmare.

I think just simple cut is good. At the end of the day is not your card and mash shuffle will damage the card in a way. I personally gets tilted when people just shuffle my deck without telling me they gonna shufle not cut

Heya Just leaving a quick comment to clear things up for you in your second situation. While I don’t have knowledge of the entire situation I want to clear up some misconceptions for you for the future. 1. Emergency issues are typically not going to be broadcasted unless absolutely necessary for players to know so to reasonable that you didn’t have any idea it was going on. 2. DQs Cannot be done from the word of a single judge even the event organizer. It requires the Organizer, the Head Judge for TCG, and Safety/Security Head to issue a DQ, this is the system of checks and balances to prevent situations where a single judge has this say. 3. Bans so have the same ish process, but much more complex and never immediate. Bans need a ticket to be submitted to Pokémon support and then a team looks into the case and then issues penalties based on situation.

It’s a really solid choice! Definitely a good tech against Charizard ex, Girtarina VSTAR and more! I’m personally not using it myself but 1 Raikou at a minimum is essential, the average miraidon deck plays 2 Raikou since it’s just a good card

This is one of the main reasons I don't want to go to one of these events ever. I get that the staff are underpaid, but the amount of cases of judges and staff power-tripping is disturbing. That along with the amount of travel costs makes it really not worth it to go to an event just to play a card game and meet randoms who also play it. Much better to save the money for a better vacation trip.

I find sometimes my opponents don’t shuffle sufficiently so I’m just doing my part to randomize better + deter cheating as well, usually when I do a shuffle it’s just as quick as a cut. But before a game I’ll give the properly 7-8 mash shuffles especially if it’s a player I have no history with. Pokemon also doesn’t ban known cheaters too 😵

I'd honestly just stay away from mass shuffling opponents decks because people will feel a certain type of way with you doing that in the first place instead of a cut/tap. Damaging cards is the biggest issue no matter how careful you are people will have that on their mind.

I mean mash shuffling is the safest way to shuffle cards and not damage them, I personally play max rarity and never have an issue with people shuffling my deck until they drop it all over the place which has happened at a win-and-in match for day 2 in Pittsburgh 😵 if people are scared of their cards getting damaged and are playing at a high competitive level they should simply not play them

So on issue #2 i think what could have made it smoothier once they accused you, just right away tell hey i did not record anything let me show u. Since that would clear thing up right away without the need to go further.

That would but I already had showed one of the judge the selfie photo and they dismissed the evidence and the head judge was scolding me and going off on me for like 3-4 minutes before telling me what I was being accused of. So showing them footage wasn’t a thing that came to mind 😮‍💨 And with them dismissing evidence already I felt like any more evidence would also be dismissed so that’s why I said I had 5 witnesses as my next step of defence. I just wish they didn’t assume I was guilty instantly and ignore everything I was saying

@SneakerTalkTCG Thx for the reply. Just to make it clear, I'm not blaming you but to show how the 1st judge / head event staff might have seen it. Someone having medical issues and the judge look over and see a camera on the table be point toward the scene. Then, when first come over to talk to you, u try to cover with showing a pic on ur phone / want him to talk to the people there. Kind of like how the way u shuffle u try to be too care you look suspicious. Your proof to him could have made him double down and think you're hiding something. The 1st judge then tells the hj their event from their point of view. So the hj just trusted it and went off. Both judge 1 and hj mishandled it, but it mostly comes from a place of wanted to protect the person having the medical issue in the first place.

Seems like bob and all the staff involved should remember who they are working for and what are the values the pokemon company tries to promote. These guys are more fit to work at an airport security or something . If I where you I would Escalate the situation to the national council and get those guys being scolded for an hour and getting them jobs that do not require human interaction. Because even if you were recording an emergency situation that is not the way for them to solve it. Bob if you re reading this : you and the people involved in this incident are all assholes. Bruh, you really should file a complaint with Pokemon on this guy. Him and the lady that initially called you out. If you need the name of the head judge for that event, I'm sure there is a way to request it from TPCI. Or other players. Sorry this happened to ya. I definitely would have been loud with the dude. The person who I was talking too wasn't a judge they were the head event staff/organizer so they have all the power in the situation and I have no way to appeal it in the moment when they are the "judge, jury and executioner" :/ I kept talking to them calmly as I repeated myself 5x+ but it just felt like I was a broken record since they never believed me.
