@@berkan8518 My brother has one and had no problem with the M2 MBP 14-inch. My wife has the M1 MBP 14-inch provided by her job. No issues with either, except for the SSD. The SSD issue isn't even noticeable on the Pro version. Only with the base specs on the M2 Air.

Who watches LOTR on a 14" or 16" screen? Who expects any laptop speaker to provide the dynamic sound inline with the big screen visuals of LOTR? Please get serious. LOTR on a 75" inch TV with the sound on a home theatre setup is in a different league. It's not like you're a university student in a dorm room. Otherwise, it was an informative video. I'm curious as to HDMI 2.1. Do the M1 Pro/Max MacBooks have HDMI 2.1? Also need Apple to output video files with bitstreaming so that I can get Dolby Atmos on a proper Home Theatre system, whether that be with a soundbar system or a full fledged 7.1.4 setup. Also, since Apple laptops are so good now I want to consider one so long as I can run any Windows program in Parallels. There are some old Windows programs that I can't get Apple silicon versions or there are no Apple equivalents available. For example, my last Adobe products are all based on perpetual licenses instead of the subscription based ones. I hate subscription based versions if I have other options I choose the other options, such as GIMP and DXO PhotoLabs. Why buy or rent when there is a competent free alternative or a cheaper perpetual license version. The only reason I use MS Office is that we get a free license (legitimate, not a pirated version). Otherwise, I would be using LibreOffice.

If your demands are this high then just go for specialized gear. The M1 Pro/Max has HDMI 2.0 and Apple doesn't support TrueHD Dolby Atmos playback. I'd recommend an Nvidia Shield TV and a 75" TV + Home Theater setup for you but to be honest, the 14" MBP has a fantastic display that's better than my 4K HDR TV and the speakers in built are fantastic. I have a full Klipsch 5.1 surround sound setup as well but I am still fascinated by the MBP speakers.

I almost got the MacBook Pro14" M12021 but I thought I would wait till March for MacBook Pro 14" M2 since it makes no sense to get a 2 years older model. But now seeing how little the upgrade is between the 2, I might consider getting the M1 but if the price difference is only 400 Euros then I would prolly get the M2, because at least I will get 2 more years of updates than the previous one. And tbh Even with my MacBook Pro 13" Early 2013, I'm still able to work on it for skins on weapon models for games and as well do graphic designs and editing photos as if it's a new laptop. I don’t understand the sound problem. Why so many variations. My Intel MacBook Air 2019 provides louder volume than my M1 MacBook Pro. The quality of the Pro seems a bit better but the max volume is not. At least on my models. Probably we’ll better feel the improvements between each 3 to 5 years, not right on the next generation.

of course m2 pro. The point they are mentioning is if you have the m1 version, buying m2 is useless. But if you don't have any just go for the new release m2 version. Overall faster chip and better performance. If the budget is not a problem for you, you can go for the m2 max which is a total beast it can hold you easily like 6-7 years.

I’m a musician and i like mor that the audio is more balanced (better for mixing) and not very bright with hard bass like in the previous gen. People have got too used to Bose and their shitty EQ that it has become a problem for audio.

Depends on your use case. If you don't do super intensive tasks then the M1 Pro is very very capable and you will not feel any problems. Also, the M2 Pro will have HDMI 2.1 so if that's something you don't care about then yes, the M1 Pro is the right way to go especially if you prefer a 16" display over the 14".

Then in one of the KZbin videos I saw that the MacBook solves the noise issues which the RTX Windows laptops makes. So I increased my budget to buy a MacBook . I was browsing through nearly 20+ videos, and finally decided to go with MacBook Pro 14 M2 Pro and here I’m watching this video. I’m really confused now guys. I’m gonna invest my 2 years of savings in this as I’m really passionate about VFX and 3d Rendering. Now what should I do ? I was highly considering a Mac Book, always wanted one. However, it is an incredibly hard sell when the Dell XPS w/ 12700H CPU, 64GB and 2TB storage is $1000 less, compared to a Mac Book with HALF the memory AND storage. Seems like a rip off when the Intel 12700H is a similar performer, if not better in some cases.

I was in your same position and ended up getting a Surface Laptop Studio with the 3050ti. It's a great laptop, but it's biggest fault has also shown me what makes the MacBook a worthwhile purchase: battery life. My Surface frequently dies during class, especially my Graphic Design classes and it sucks! I'm currently debating whether I should get an M2 Pro MacBook Pro when they inevitably go on a back to school sale in August or waiting on a refresh of the SLS.

​@@reverend_wintondupree TL;DR: Get a used M1 Pro Macbook Pro or new M2 Pro Macbook Pro unless you REALLY need this form-factor or you absolutely REQUIRE Windows. If you are able to wait, maybe waiting for the next revision of the SLS that is rumored to come out this year could be worth it. Hmm that is a good question. I'd say around 4 to 4.5 hours of note-taking in Obsidian and Google Sheets at max brightness, wifi on, basically everything on but battery profile on "Reccomended", which is the battery-saving profile. Make sure you don't use Google Chrome on battery, as it will slaughter the laptop. I use Microsoft Edge and it's actually a pretty good browser. In my Graphic Design classes we used Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator and in those classes, I would get less than 2 hours of battery life when using the dGPU, and maybe 2.5 hours on the iGPU. I was so disappointed by the battery life that I haven't even tried Premiere on it. With that said, I do LOVE this laptop though. The Surface Slim Pen 2 feels decades ahead of the Apple Pencil I use on my iPad Pro, and drawing in supported software (OneNote) feels very natural. It is useful for my classes that require me to draw logic circuits and is the best experience I've ever had for digital drawing. The screen is INCREDIBLE - easily the best screen I've ver seen on a Windows laptop. I don't have a way of measuring it, but the max brightness feels like around 550 nits so it's plenty bright, AND the 120hz 1440p panel has incredible colors. You seriously never want to look away from that display. The hinge mechanism is a cool concept, but the laptop is so heavy (4.4 lbs), that it makes it impractical to hold as a tablet for more than maybe 15 minutes. The positive side of that weight is that you NEVER hear the fan noise unless you are really pushing the device. It's by far the most quiet Windows Computer I have ever seen (and more importantly, NOT heard). The gaming performance is terrible. Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, decided to starve the 3050ti and only run it at 35W in laptop mode. It actually does run at the full 50W in any other display mode, but the SECOND you flip that screen back into place, it instantly goes back to 35W and stays that way. People on Reddit have been using tape to keep the screen from magnetically latching and that seems to help, and thermals are still incredible. On battery, I sometimes get BETTER gaming performance from the iGPU... it's insane! Productivity performance isn't great, either. The Adobe Suite suffers from frequent hitching. That 4-core CPU is well-cooled garbage and the 3050ti just isn't that fast. Productivity performance on battery life is far better when you're using the dGPU, though. The iGPU isn't TERRIBLE, but certainly not the performance you would expect out of such an expensive laptop. Your use case is commuting - I would say that, while you would be happy with the SLS most of the time, the battery life will only get worse with time and Windows 11 updates. Unless your job or school requires you to scribble your notes or do a lot of drawing/sketches, or you REALLY love the form factor, I believe getting a used M1 Macbook Pro 14'' would fit all of your needs, while being cheaper, far more powerful and lighter. I plan on buying one in the next month when my budget allows for it and will promptly be switching my school and work projects back to macOS until Microsoft comes up with a more compelling alternative. To be honest, if Microsoft used an AMD CPU and made the laptop itself less heavy, it would be a must buy. If you need a laptop right NOW, I would say get the m1 pro Macbook Pro 14'', but if you are able to wait, Microsoft is supposed to release a new revision of the SLS this year. With more modern hardware, it could be worth the wait.

I seriously doubt a high percentage of total sales are people upgrading from last gen. I “keep up with the joneses” but never upgraded from a spec’ed out Mac within 2-3 years. And since no one should really be upgrading from an M1, you’re coming from Intel. It’s already P Regardless I’ll hold my opinion until the M2 has been out a few months and we start to see optimizations.

The base model of M2 has 512 GB of a single NAND chip and m1 has 2 256gb NAND chip working in parallel so m1 will be faster Also m2 speakers are WAY more balanced than m1s and m1 was way too much bass and coming from a musician I like m2

Most tests show the M1 Pro SSD is significantly faster than the M2 Pro for precisely this reason. The M2 Pro does not seem like a major upgrade but is still great as a new purchase. I managed to get a great deal on a M1 Pro 10-16-16 16GB ram and 1 TB SSD. I use Logic pro and is great.

ZONE OF TECH export tests between the14" m1 pro and m2 pro base models show that the m2 pro is 1.23 to 1.50 faster than the previous model, with 0% battery loss! Interesting video! Good thing to bear in mind if you are only interested in getting a base model. However, just remember that this doesn't apply for the max specced out M2 Max models. If you bought a maxed out M1 model, you would only have gotten 64 GB of memory compared to the 96GB of memory you get on a maxed out M2 model (plus the added CPU and GPU cores over the previous generation). This obviously would decrease the times for video or image rendering over the previous generation. This won't apply to most people though, so I would still recommend you pick up an M1 model on the refurbished and save some money/get a slightly better spec for the same price as a new one.

apple is so far ahead of the competition that they're not putting any effort whatsoever in improving their own goddamn chips and they've been doing this for a while like in  watch by just renaming the chip and pushing it to the market. Well can't complain them. There are always some people out there who's gonna anyway buy the products. But from innovation point of view it's just too damn boring.
